2014 Big Brother Africa Hotshots Postponed until further notice after House got Burnt -





The 2014 edition of Big Brother Africa reality show has been postponed after a devastating fire incident at the Big Brother House. Big Brother Africa Hotshots was to launch this Sunday 7th September. Here's the press release from M-Net:
"M-Net and Endemol SA advise that due to a devastating fire at the Big Brother house on 2 September 2014, Big Brother Hotshots will not launch this Sunday (7 September) as scheduled. The cause of the fire at this stage is unknown and investigations will commence as soon as it is safe to do so. 
At this stage M-Net and Endemol are urgently looking for an alternative Big Brother
house in which to film the production, however as this production has highly technical infrastructure, camera and edit requirements an alternative is not immediately available.  Every effort will be made to find a solution as quickly as possible to ensure that Africa’s biggest reality show will continue.

It is based at the Sesani Studios in Johannesburg 
  • Was anyone injured in the fire?
No one was injured during the fire. As more information unfolds, we will communicate.

Impeached Enugu Deputy Gov Redeployed to Civil Service



Enugu state Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime congratulates his newly sworn-in deputy,Rev.Ifeanyi Nwoye -

 Enugu State government has re-deployed impeached deputy governor, Sunday Onyebuchi, to the state civil service. This came as Governor Sullivan Chime yesterday swore in his new deputy, Reverend Raphael Ifeanyichukwu Nwoye. The governor announced the redeployment of the former deputy governor to the State Civil Service as a deputy director on Grade Level 15. Onyebuchi was in the civil service before being appointed to political office by the Nnamani administration. -

Kaduna Govt confirms there’s suspected case of Ebola at ABU





The Kaduna State Government has confirmed that there is indeed a suspected case of Ebola Virus Disease in the state. This is contrary to the claim by the claim by Dan Nwomeh, the spokesperson to the Minister of Health than an earlier report by this newspaper on the matter was false. PREMIUM TIMES had reported that a 19- year old student of Law at the Ahmadu Bello University was suspected to be down with the deadly Ebola virus in Kaduna and was on admission at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, ABUTH. As indicated in the report, Bilyaminu Umar, spokesperson for ABUTH, confirmed the development. But no sooner than our report was published than the spokesperson to the Minister, Mr. Nwomeh, took to the social media to say the story was false.

Photos: Ebola Patient Flees Clinic In Search For Food





A shocking video has emerged which shows the moment an Ebola patient who escaped quarantine in search of food was recaptured and forced into the back of a truck. The footage, broadcast by Sky News, was captured in Monrovia, Liberia, in West Africa, which is currently in the grip of an Ebola epidemic.

The man had escaped from Monrovia's Elwa hospital, (which last month was so crowded with cases of the deadly disease that it had to turn people away), to visit a market. He was wearing a red shirt and a wristband that told people he has tested positive for Ebola. There were chaotic scenes as crowds followed the infected man, and some stallholders argued with him as he approached them.

A top ranking British envoy slums and Dies At MMIA



A top ranking British envoy who arrived Lagos tonite September 2nd reportedly slumped and died right after landing at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport. Immediately the person, who arrived on a United Airlines flight slumped, eyewitnesses said many passengers and airport officials took for their heels for concern with the Ebola virus disease.  The person was later attended to by airport health officials who after carrying out proper examinations on him discovered he'd suffered a heart attack. His body happens to be in the custody of airport officials

Nigerian Troops defeated Boko Haram in Bama ?



According to Nigerian military, the Nigerian Armed Forces chased out Boko Haram from Bama town yesterday and even killed 59 insurgents but according to Punch today, I80 people were killed yesterday during the battle with the insurgents. 

They said the spokesman of the youth vigilante in the town, Barr. Jubrin Gonda, made this revelation. And according Channels TV, residents said the insurgents have gained control of the town. Witnesses say after the initial military intervention in repelling the attack. The sect members re-grouped and launched a successful attack on the town which they say is presently under the control of the sect.

25 year old Best Momodu, (pictured in blue) one of many 63 criminals paraded yesterday September 1st by men of the Edo state Police command at the state Force Headquaters, confessed to stabbing his own father to death over a one stick of cigarette he stole from him, Vanguard reports.

“I stole his cigarette and he found out. So he started shouting at me and quarreling. So, mistakenly I took a knife and stabbed him. I have not seen the dead body but I heard he died. Elderly woman tests positive for Ebola in Rivers




One of the three persons taken to the Ebola virus quarantine centre in Oduoha, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, has tested positive for the disease.

The latest case, an elderly woman, contracted the virus in Good Heart Hospital, the health facility where Iyke Enemuo, the doctor who treated a Nigerian ECOWAS diplomat, Koye Olu-Ibukun, died last week.

The two others – a doctor and a pharmacist – tested negative. Even though they had been released from the centre,   another round of tests will however   be carried out to reconfirm their status.
