The World's Oldest Man Died in Algeria at the Age of 140 years.

An Algerian man, Mubarak Rahmani Messe, believed to be the world's oldest, passed away on Saturday evening at the age of 140 years. He was treated in hospital two years ago for the first time in his life to cure a stomach illness. Messe, it is believed, was born in 1884 in El Oued district, south-east Algeria, near the Libyan border. Messe witnessed the last century's two great world wars; Algeria's liberation revolution; the global economic crisis of 1929, the Palestinian Nakba in 1948 and his country's independence. The great grandfather who worked as a camel shepherd married three times; he is survived by nearly a hundred grandchildren - Algerian News Agency.

What was your experience during the period of GCE exams?
I studied a lot during the period of the exam. I even had to study books that were for SS3 students. I also studied the oldest past questions of the GCE examination that I could lay my hands on because the older the questions, the harder they are.

If you look closely at the suspect, he is in fact obeying the orders when the police men  simultaneously shot him dead as he was placing his rifle on the ground.

U.S Warns its citizens against travelling to 16 states in Nigeria..



 The United States has revised its travel alert on Nigeria, warning its citizens against going to 16 states in the country.  The most recent alert, includes the three north eastern states which were under emergency rule after having a presidential declaration on May 14, 2013.  Released on January 8 by the State Department, the US appealed to its citizens in order to avoid all, but essential travels to Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Gombe and Jigawa states.

Another states on the list, that the alert said are susceptible to kidnappings, robberies and other armed attacks are Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara. Abia, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Imo and Rivers states, that have been in a youthful list issued in June, 2013 aren't on the newest travel list.

Person, 21, burns himself to death in Taraba after disagreement with dad



A 21-year-old man, Mansur Tanko, on Friday, burnt himself to death in Jalingo, after a disagreement with his father, Tanko Mijinyawa, over marriage.

The Taraba Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incident and said the Jalingo Division of the police had commenced investigation into the matter.

Tanko, according to a witness, Jibrin Bala, set himself ablaze because his family refused to approve his wedding with a girl, Blessing. The witness told sympathisers that Tanko introduced Blessing to his father as his proposed wife, but the father kicked against the union, describing it as a bad choice.

2 adolescent girls beat their 16-year-old buddy before keeping her down to be rap*ed




Two teen girls lured their friend to a house, beat her up and held her down to be raped while someone filmed the whole thing on a cell phone. UK Daily Mail reports 

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly beaten by other girls before being held down to be raped in a horrifying attack that was filmed on a cellphone, it was revealed today.

Senator Magnus Abe, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream) and the Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Tony Okocha were reportedly both hit with rubber bullets shot by Rivers police today Sunday January 12th within a political rally in Port Harcourt. (The senator pictured above in hospital following the shooting incident)

The Senator had led members of the Save Rivers Movement to a location the place where a pro-APC rally was to take place , and law enforcement fired rounds and released teargas in a bid to prevent the event. Several persons were wounded and have now been reportedly transported to the hospital.

One particular wounded Tony Okocha said Rivers police was attempting to militarize their state and blamed the attack on Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, who he claimed told police to prevent the rally. Another pic of the wounded Senator following the break.

Open letters: Don’t leave PDP, Tukur begs Obasanjo



ABUJA – NATIONAL chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Saturday, pleaded with former President Olusegun Obasanjo not to leave the party.
Obasanjo had in a one-page letter, dated 7 January, 2014 to Tukur, said he would temporarily cease to be a member of the party by withdrawing from its activities at the local, state and federal levels over the allegation that  Chief Buruji Kashamu, the Chairman of the Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of the party in the  South West,  is a wanted man in the United States.
