DISGRACE: Cardinal Finally Apologizes For His "Improper Sexual Conduct"..And He Wanted To Be The Pope



A cardinal at the center of an international scandal over alleged sexual abuse reversed course Sunday, acknowledging wrongdoing.
"I wish to take this opportunity to admit that there have been times that my sexual conduct has fallen below the standards expected of me as a priest, archbishop and cardinal," Cardinal Keith O'Brien said in a statement.
Until days ago, O'Brien was the archbishop of Scotland.
O'Brien has been dogged by allegations he abused four men studying to be priests in the 1980s.
"In recent days certain allegations which have been made against me have become public. Initially, their anonymous and non-specific nature led me to contest them," O'Brien said.

66-Year-Old Nigerian Woman Caught Smuggling Cocaine In Her Wig (PICTURED)



Another ‘banged up abroad’ story has taken place in Istanbul (Turkey) when a 66-year-old Nigerian woman was caught with over 1 kg cocaine in her wig. The police operation was recorded on cameras, and the moments were released in a footage… The 66-year-old Jose O. of Nigeria was detected to be a drug courier by the police, and she was monitored before being caught in a hotel in Istanbul’s Laleli neighbourhood of Fatih district. An amount of 1 kg and 40 gram cocaine was found in her ‘wig’, and the police operation was recorded by a camera.

The old woman appeared in Istanbul Courthouse before she was arrested and sent to Bakirkoy Prison for Woman and Juveniles.

Three More LASU Students killed As Damoche Is Buried



Following the gruesome murder of Damilola Ibrahim Olaniyan, a.k.a Damoche, by cultists at LASU (Lagos State University) on Thursday, reprisal allegedly took place that evening and reportedly continued till the following day. By the time the late musician was buried in the early hours of Saturday in Badagry, three more students, believed to be cultists, were allegedly killed in gruesome manner. 

The three corpses could not be identified as of the time of going to the press, the social media were awash with gruesome photographs of corpses said to be those of rival gang members who killed the artiste. It is believed that one of the dead cultists shot Damoche on Thursday. 

Danjuma Says Nigeria Is Facing A Civil War





A former Minister of Defence, General Theophilous Danjuma (retired), who was on Saturday conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Science at a special convocation ceremony of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has warned that the activities of the Boko Haram sect, kidnappings and other social vices in the northern part of Nigeria were drifting the region into a civil war and anarchy.

Speaking shortly after he was conferred with the doctorate degree, General Danjuma said the current security and developmental challenges facing the country and the north in particular have become worrisome that if not properly addressed on time could lead to anarchy and lawlessness.

Slain Afro pop singer, Damino Damoche, buried



The murdered fast rising singer was buried in Badagry yesterday Saturday March 2nd, two days after he was gunned down in front of his school, Lagos State University. Damoche had already boarded a bus in front of the school when his attackers asked him to get down. He was shot twice in the head.   The 26 year old is survived by his mum and siblings. Rest in Peace!

Statement on fire outbreak at M-Net studios in Ojota yesterday



Below is a statement released by M-Net...
It has been confirmed that a fire broke out yesterday afternoon (Saturday March 2, 2013) at the Ojoto Studios facility, which is home to both M-Net and SuperSport productions in Nigeria.  At this time, the fire is under control and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze. Whilst the fire appears to have caused significant damage to the facility, which may result in some screening delays for programs recorded on site, M-Net and SuperSport are already hard at work with a view to resuming production as soon as possible in order to minimize any impact on viewing audiences at home.  Further M-Net, SuperSport and MultiChoice are deeply thankful and grateful that no-one was injured during this unfortunate incident.

Denrele Edun and family attacked by armed robbers at their home



Denrele Edun and his family were attacked by armed robbers around 3am early this morning at their family home in Ebute Metta, Yaba. Denrele, his sister, father, grandmother and cousins were all home when the 5 armed men broke into their home. They carted away property - grandma's jewellery, cash, phones, laptops, watches, gadgets and a brand new plasma screen - but thankfully no one was seriously injured. The insecurity in this country..

There are reports making the rounds that two weeks after Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime returned to Nigeria after spending four months in a UK hospital, that he has been flown abroad again for medical attention. No word yet on when he traveled or the country he traveled to...

CCTV captured the exact moment a student, Valentine Cannings, 22, brutally plunged a knife into hisclassmate's stomach and left him for dead, after claiming he gave him 'dodgy looks'. Valentine Cannings (pictured to the right of CCTV image) viciously stabbed his victim, 17 year old Kevin Linongi, with a largehunting knife outside Bournville College's campus in Longbridge Lane, Birmingham on October 12, 2012.
Valentine Cannings was jailed for seven years on Friday March 1st for the attack after pleading guilty to wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

The president hosted a presidential dinner to celebrate Nollywood at 20. First Lady Patience Jonathan, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra State governors and lots of important people were at the dinner. Nigeria vs Tunisia: Nigeria's Flying Eagles Failed to Fly Over Tunisia Again




Nigeria's U20 team, the Flying Eagles, on Saturday lost their second successive game as they were beaten 2-1 by Tunisian club, Esperance, in a friendly match on Saturday.
The Flying Eagles controlled the first half against the two-time African champions, who lined up a very strong starting XI that included new signings, Emmanuel Clottey from Becham Chelsea of Ghana; and Nigerian-born winger, Emeka Emerum; as well as Tunisia internationals, Houcine Ragued and Wajdi Bouazzi.
The Flying Eagles created the best chances in a goalless first half and will again have to blame their finishing for not going ahead in the friendly match.

Nigeria: Jonathan, Wife, Honoured in Cote d'Ivoire





Nigeria's President, Goodluck Jonathan, and his wife, Patience, were honoured in Cote d'Ivoire on Friday, presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, said in a statement.
Mr. Jonathan was conferred with the 'Grand Cross of the Order of the Nation,' the highest honour in Cote d'Ivoire, by the Ivorian President, Alassane Ouattara, late on Friday in Abidjan. The award was in appreciation of Nigeria's contributions to peace, stability and progress in the West African country.
President Ouattara also conferred the honour of Commander of the Order of the Nation on Nigeria's First Lady, Patience Jonathan, at a State Banquet in the Ivorian seat of government.

Nigeria: Local Prisons - Inmates Open Up On Travails, Triumphs




For long, so much has been said about the deplorable state of prisons in Nigeria, particularly the adverse health implications on inmates due to congestion. And successive governments have been al ccused of negligence instead of proffering lasting solution to this problem.
More worrisome is the fact that inmates get back into society hardened after serving their sentences, thereby frustrating security operatives'efforts to curb criminal acts in the society.
Irked by the development, the Nigerian Prison Service was renamed Nigerian Prisons and Correctional Service sequel to the Senate passage of a Bill for an Act to repeal the Prisons Act Cap, P29 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Nigeria: Aganga Charges ITF to Ensure Nigeria's Industrialisation Before End of Jonathan's Tenure





The Minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, has challenged the Industrial Training Fund, ITF, to ensure that the Nigerian economy is fully industrialized before the end of President Goodluck Jonathan's administration.

Mr. Aganga issued the challenge on Friday in Jos, during the Industrial Training Fund's annual review and official commissioning of the organisation's centre.

The minister, while emphasizing on the relevance of the ITF, to Nigeria's economic development, urged the Fund to develop more manpower to improve the country's economic fortune.
