PhotoNews: Ongoing protest at Benin-Ore Expressway by students



  Students of the College of Education, Ogwaruo, Benin, are still causing traffic gridlock on the Benin-Ore Expressway. Based on a OOB reader in Benin who submitted the photos, the students are not allowing cars ply the high way. He explained the students are protesting no results, no good roads, no power, that their school is similar to a poultry without any authority.

Law enforcement have moved to the location but haven't had the oppertunity to disperse the students. See more photos after the jump.

Photos: Doctors, students, head to the street to protest mass sack of resident doctors



Medical doctors, students, consultants converged at the Lagos University Teaching hospital, (LUTH), Idi Araba, today to protest the recent sack of 16,000 resident doctors by the Federal Government. The protest was led by the Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Tope Ojo. The doctors said their strike was never about a rise in their salary, that they certainly were fighting for was for better structures and equipment in hospitals across the country. UNIOSUN shut as students protest death of colleague




The management of the Osun State University has closed down the Ikire Campus of the university indefinitely.
Our correspondent gathered that the management in a memo issued by the Registrar of the university announced the indefinite closure of the institution following an all night violent protest allegedly embarked upon by students of the school following the death of their colleague in an accident.

Osun 2014: Students deny endorsing Aregbesola



The Coalition of Osun State Students’ Movement has denounced the endorsement of Governor Rauf Aregbesola for a second term by the National Association of Osun State Students and the Joint Campus Committee, saying they did not reflect the views of the students in the state.
Leaders of the group, who addressed a press conference in Osogbo, said it was unfortunate that the NAOSS and the JCC, that had earlier organised solidarity protest in support of the striking lecturers of Osun State-owned tertiary institutions, would endorse the governor while the workers were still on strike.

250 female students of FGGC fled Boko Haramed Borno



The Principal of FGGC Maiduguri told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri yesterday that the students were relocated last week

Over 250 female students of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno in Borno State have been relocated to another school in Maiduguri following recent attacks on public schools in the North by Boko Haram members.

The Principal of FGGC Maiduguri told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri yesterday that the students were relocated the other day

Students Burn-down Asa Block At IMT In Enugu To Avoid Malpractice Punishment



Based on report, at the Institute of Management & Technology, IMT, Enugu, the Asa block of the institute was set ablaze last two nights at about 7pm.  Allegedly by some final year students of the college who had been booked for exam malpractice. The ultimate students who feared they would be finding significant abuse for his or her behave and could not consider any possible solution, chose to burn down the making where  answer scripts were stuffed, in order to get rid of the evidence against them.

Why we attacked Nigerian embassy in Russia – Niger-Delta students In Russia




Niger-Delta students on scholarship in Peoples Friendship University of Russia have justified their attack on the Nigerian Embassy in Russia.

In a statement released by one of the students, Okoriko Maxwell, he gave an account of the events that led to their action citing the nonchalant attitude towards one of their mates who was in dire need of medical assistance.

Moscow police detained 16 Nigerian students over Embassy violence

Moscow police have detained 16 Nigerian students accused of smashing furniture inside their country’s embassy, reportedly in anger over unpaid grants.

The 16 suspects were removed from the embassy building at the request of Nigerian staff, Russia’s interior ministry told local media.

All of them are enrolled at colleges of higher education in Russia, it added.

Nigerian Students Cause Damage In Moscow Embassy , faces Charges



Moscow, Russia -- Sixteen Nigerian students were arrested in Russia's capital, Moscow, for wreaking havoc inside Nigeria's embassy. The students were reportedly angered over financial issues. 

The sources within the inner ministry say the 16 students now face administrative charges for hooliganism. The is going to be transferred to a Moscow court for futher processing.

#ASUUStrike President Of National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) Dropped



As a result of his poor handling of the ongoing ASUU strike, the Nigerian Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has impeached its current president Yinka Gbadebo and has replaced him with Jubril Ahmad, the vice-president.
In a statement obtained by Sahara Reporters, NANS Senate President Emaluyi Sunday Michael said Gbadebo was impeached at a meeting of stakeholders on September 7 under Section 49(1) of the constitution. That provision states: “The president can be impeached on the grounds of incompetence or as therefore by his attitude or action which can be classified/regarded as misconduct”.

Students don’t want ASUU to end strike – ASUU president, Dr Isa Fagge -( True Or False ??)



The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said it is continuing its nationwide strike on the advice of university students.
In a telephone interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, the President of the union, Dr. Isa Fagge, said students were tired of the incessant industrial actions by the university lecturers due to the Federal Government’s failure to implement the agreement it had with ASUU since 2009.

Fagge said the union had decided to heed the advice of the students to continue the strike until the Federal Government fully implemented the agreement.

Photos: Nigerian Students Paralyze Lagos Traffic Over ASUU /ASUP Strike




Students under the aegis of Nigerian Education Rights Coalition and Coalition Against Commercialization of Education in Nigeria today embarked on street protests in Lagos that has brought traffic to a standstill on on Lagos main road, Ikorodu road.

The protest which started with a handful of students protesting against Nigerian government insensitivity to ongoing strike by university and polytechnic teachers has steadily grown in the last hour.   Policemen are seen trying to break up the protest but the students have so far stood their ground and proceeded peacefully in defiance of the police.

2 Unilag Students Dead, 3 Others seriously Injured After Fatal Car Accident




Dont drink while driving and dont drive while drinking! 5 students of the University of Lagos were reportedly involved in a fatal accident on Sunday night which resulted in the loss of 2 lives.  The 2 students who lost their lives have been identified as Adelowotan Oluwafunmilayo, a 200L Student Of Quantity Surveying and Eniola, a 400 level student of Mass Communication.  May their souls rest in perfect peace.

Ekiti State University, EKSU sacks six lecturers for plagiarism and s-èxual harassment, Rusticates 300 Students



Authorities of the Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado-Ekiti, have relieved six academic staff of the appointments for plagiarism, fraudulent practices and s-èxual harassment. The institution's Deputy Registrar, Information, Mr. Ajibade Olubunmi, said in a statement that the list included three senior academic staff who were dismissed for manipulating examination scores, plagiarism and failure to serve the university after being sponsored abroad.

Olubunmi said the institution's Governing Council, after the recommendations of the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee, also approved the termination of the appointments of three other academic staff for gross academic misconduct, falsification of employment records and s-èxual harassment.
The Olokuta Medium Security Prison in Akure, Ondo State, which recorded a jailbreak, yesterday. He said the university also expelled 24 students “found guilty of committing offences including examination misconduct to being members of unregistered associations in the university.

University Of Uyo in Akwa Ibom Shut down After Students Riot



The University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom state, South south Nigeria has been closed down following students protest over insufficient lecture venues and increase in transport charges from the town campus to its permanent site.

Trouble started on Wednesday afternoon when the students went on peaceful protest asking the university authorities to reverse its decision of increasing the transportation fare from the town campus to its permanent site at Nsukara Offot in the outskirts of Uyo from N100 to N200 per student per day.
A resident of the school community said the students, mainly of Science and Engineering faculties, went on rampage in protest against the relocation of the Science Faculty from the school’s temporary site along Ikpa Road to the permanent site.

Students Film N-aked Man Having S-ex With Dog In America – Caught In The Act




The police thought they'd seen everything, until this morning. Students on the way to Denby High School, Detroit, saw a 30-year-old man having sex with a dog. They shot video on the cell phone and showed it to school security, who called police. Once they arrived, they found a naked man sitting on the floor behind two vacant houses nearby the corner of Kelly and Spring Garden. He rushed women officer, but he was subdued.He was also bleeding from his head. It turns out, he tried to get into a stolen car nearby that had New Jersey plates. Police contacted the man's brother who said the person had mental issues and used drugs. He was taken up to St. John Hospital for evaluation. 

The dog is believed to be a hole bull or mix. It's not yet determined if charges is likely to be issued from the man. To end everything, the female officer collapsed on the scene from exhaustion. She'd worked past her 12 hour shift. Watch the video below After The Break

5 varsity students arrested By EFCC for internet scam



Five undergraduates and four other Nigerians were on Monday, June 3, 2013 arrested by Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over internet-related fraud.
The undergraduates, who are undergoing different courses in different institutions of higher learning, were rounded up in Ibadan, Oyo State in a sting operation.

They are: Sunkanmi Odewale – 200 level Mechanical Engineering student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State; Olowofola Tolu – 300 level Economics student of Lead City University, Ibadan; Ekundayo Damilola – 300 level Computer Science/Economics student, Lead City University, Ibadan; Adelabu Kolawole – HND II Purchasing and Supply student of Ibadan Polytechnic, Ibadan; Bankole Oluwaseyi Fisayo – OND II Marketing student of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
Others are: Okewole Adesesan – Real Estate Manager with Sesan Okewole & Sons Limited; Emmanuel Ubaman – trader; Fisayo Ajibola – Travel Agent with Milleage Travel and Tours; and Oyebisi Femi – a fish farmer.
