After the Nigerian Civil War, Why is the State Allergic to the Name Biafra?

The month of May marks the anniversary of the declaration of independence by Eastern Nigerians from Nigeria, and called their new born nation, Biafra.
Easterners did so following the obvious state-sponsored murder of the people of the East, as they were all branded Igbo: Ijaw, Ibibio, Efik, Ogoja, others. By the count of that period, the population of Nigeria was 60 million and 50,000 Igbo were killed in cold blood.
For those who were alive at this time, it was blood-chilling, inhuman, barbaric, reprobate and harrowing, never to be forgotten period in the life of this fumbling and wobbling country still held together not by common good and mutual love but by a strange and uncommon phenomenon, nameless, but akin to uncivilization. Also unforgettable because it marks the beginning of a shadow Nigeria.

Video: Gov Rochas Okorocha Opens Up On Governors Forum Saga

The Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has expressed displeasure over the crisis that erupted after the Nigeria Governors Forum election that returned the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Ameachi as the Chairman of the Forum for the next two years.
Lambasting the PDP for their desperation to bring Amaechi down, Okorocha said:
“I can’t imagine it in my life that anybody will come up and say we did not conduct an election. There was a free and fair election and the winner of that election was Amaechi... If you [PDP] don't want Amaechi for some reasons please say so and stop telling lies.”

Warning that the lingering crisis could snowball into something that could consume Nigeria's democracy if not well managed, Governor Okorocha insisted that all Governors must come together and sue for peace and unity for the sake of the nations future.

The governor made the call while speaking at an event in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, which stated this yesterday in a statement signed by the Director, Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, also said that troops had intercepted “messages sent to fleeing insurgents urging them not to give up but fight to the end.”  said the attempt by some of them to heed the call was foiled at the weekend as they were trailed to some settlements and towns towards the border where they had planned to regroup.

Northern Governors Set To Dump Jonathan and PDP

The political atmosphere in Nigeria is highly combustible at the moment and OluFamous has gathered from top political players in Abuja that a powerful tsunami is coming. There is going to be so many casualties in the "explosion" but President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP will most likely be the losers.

My source, an insider, said they are now ready to ensure that PDP crumbles...
In their reaction to the suspension on Monday of Governor Rotimi Amaechi, northern governors on the PDP platform were said to have made "serious" contacts and those of them who are bold enough have decided that the best option is to see to the collapse of the PDP as soon as possible.

My source said the Norther Governors who are ready to move and join the opposition are well aware that it was President Goodluck Jonathan that gave the orders for Amaechi's suspension and information available to them was that some of them will soon be suspended and ridiculed too.

Amaechi VS Goodluck - It’s fight to the finish, says Amaechi

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday wielded the big stick on the embattled Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, Rotimi Amaechi, by suspending him from the party.
The National Working Committee, NWC, of the party hinged his suspension on anti-party activities. But Amaechi has vowed to fight his suspension to the finish. “I will not leave the PDP. I will go to court.
The aircraft issue is same politics, pure politics. For one year plus, a minister refuses to sign import permit. I’m sure you are aware of the House of Representatives’ Committee report on the plane issue. “I want to say the way these people at the federal level are acting, they may come for my life. So, when you pray, please pray for me,” he said. He said there was nothing wrong for a governor to ask for his right, “which the PDP is now describing as anti-party.”
