Confusion as Pastor disappears after deadly auto crash in Osun




VANGUARD NIGERIA stated that anxiety is mounting over the sudden disappearance of the General Overseer of Christ Worshippers Church with headquarters at Osubi, Effurun, Warri, Delta State Prophet Duromola Adedayo Samuel.

One source said Prophet Duromola might have met his death in a ghastly auto crash that occurred, yesterday, between 6.00 p.m and 8.00 p.m. along Akure-Ilesa expressway.

The Chairman and spiritual father of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide (Ayo Ni O), Most Reverend Samuel Abidoye has cautioned President Goodluck Jonathan and former president Olusegun Obasanjo against heating up the polity  through their actions and inactions.

The President recalled his encounter with United States President Barack Obama when the latter revealed that about 25, 000 medical consultants work in the U.S., the number which the US leader said, was crucial to the American economy.

OAU Graduate commits suicide over lady in Ikorodu



In accordance with a report by PM News, a graduate of Architecture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ogunsona Daniel Adekunle Adebambo (pictured above) committed suicide by hanging himself in  uncompleted storey building yesterday January 1st 2014.

Based on the report, the human body of the 30 year old man was found around 1 a.m. yesterday dangling from a string linked with the hook of a fan in an uncompleted storey building at 1, Alice Ogunsona Street, Hilltop Estate, Eruwen, Ikorodu. His body was found by his younger brother after reading the suicide note he wrote and left at their home. Continue...

Ex-football star O.J. Simpson is receives tests for brain cancer




Based on a fresh report by National Enquirer, jailed former football star O.J. Simpson is receiving tests for brain cancer and is begging President Obama for a pardon so may die in peace at home.  The magazine claims that Simpson, 66, who is serving a 33 year sentence in a prison in Nevada for kidnapping, assault and robbery, is undergoing secret medical tests for a cancerous tumor in his brain and is convinced he won't live long.

"O.J. says his memory is slipping and he gets painful headaches and other symptoms. He put off the doctors for weeks after he first started experiencing the symptoms because he was afraid of what they would find. Now the prison docs are telling him they believe he has a brain tumor. They plan to run a series of tests on him, MRIs and CT scans.' a source told The Enquirer.

Justice ministry to spend ₦181.3m on clothing this year - Report



The Federal Ministry of Justice Headquarters will spend the sum of N181.3m on uniforms and other garments in 2014, according to the budget estimates submitted to the National Assembly by Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

A copy of the proposed budget of the headquarters of the justice ministry, which was obtained by a Punch correspondent, revealed that the sum of N181, 391,000 was allocated for “uniforms and other clothing” in 2014.

Nigerian man nabbed in New Jersey for allegedly killing his pregnant wife



On Friday December 27th, 33 year old Babatope Owoseni was arrested in East Orange, New Jersey in connection with the death of his wife who had been nine months pregnant at the time of her death.
26 year old Fatoumata Owoseni was found unresponsive at the 39 South Munn Avenue apartment she shared with  Babatope. The authorities haven't released facts about how he allegedly killed her. Babatope has been faced with her murder and will be held without bail at the Essex County Corrections Facility.

Man Sets himself on fire In Abuja, Hours Before The New Year.



 Less than 24 hours to the New Year, a middle-aged person reportedly committed suicide by setting himself ablaze at his Gwarimpa house in Abuja on Tuesday. Though information on the episode was questionable at the time of processing this report, Punch reports that the smoking from the man's house attracted neighbours, who on getting to his house, discovered his charred remains. Another report says he made it happen to protest Nigeria's economic situation. Nevertheless, law enforcement have evacuated the corpse to the mortuary of the General Clinic, Kubwa, Abuja.

Awolowo Was Greater Than Mandela, Writer/Poet Odia Ofeimun Says ( Do you agree ?)




In an interview with Sahara TV, the writer, poet & social critique said late premier of the old Western region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, was a greater man than South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, Dr. Nelson Mandela.

I am too much of an Awolowo man not to see that the process of moving into independence in South Africa and in Nigeria followed exactly the same pattern. It was based on a negotiated settlement. The liberation struggle did not create the end of apartheid. It was a negotiation and Nigerians negotiated exactly the way Mandela negotiated.

Santa Claus Found Tied & Dead in Russia



A man dressed as Santa Claus has been found dead and hog tied after he threatened partygoers with a knife in Russia.
Investigators said the person attended the home party in the Russian city of Yakutsk and was  subdued when he began threating two other partygoers with a knife. His hands and feet were tied with rope, and his girlfriend tied her scarf around his mouth to prevent him for yelling and then left him outside in the cold. Since the girlfriend was escorting all of the guests out of the home she want check on her boyfriend and found him dead. Detectives are trying to find the cause  of the man's death.

3 kids burnt to death as fire gutted 10 houses in Delta




TRAGEDY struck, Monday, as three kids of same parents were burnt to death in a inferno which consumed 10 make-shift houses at Oroke Estate in Ovwian, Udu Council Section of Delta State. An eye witness said the source of the fire could not be ascertained but suggested it could be from candle light or generating sets as there clearly was power outage at time of the incident.

R.I.P: James Avery,'Uncle Phil' dies at 68



 James Avery, the actor who performed Uncle Phil in popular 90s sitcom Fresh King of Bel Air has died. He passed away yesterday December 31st in a LA hospital days following undergoing open hart surgery. He died from troubles from the operation. He was 68 years old. May his soul rest in peace, Ase.

Drunk driver kills six pedestrians, including one child, in Poland



A drunk driver killed six pedestrians, including one child, on Wednesday in Poland, local police said.The man lost control of his vehicle and careered into a group of pedestrians on the pavement, killing five people on the spot.

Three injured children were rushed to hospital, one of whom later died, according to Anna Gembala, a local police spokeswoman.  Tests on the driver revealed he had two grammes of alcohol per litre of blood, way over the legal driving limit, Gembala told local radio.
The driver faces 12 years behind bars.

Two bombs explode in quick succession in Somali capital Mogadishu - police



Two bombs exploded in quick succession outside the front of the Jazira hotelnear the Somali capital's international airport on Wednesday, police and local residents said.

"First we heard a big crash and the security forces immediately opened fire," said Abdullahi Hussein who lives 300 metres behind the hotel. "After a few minutes another explosion took place and there was more gunfire."

US judge reaffirms laptop border searches without ‘reasonable suspicion’



 
 US border guards can now search travelers’ laptops and other electronic gadgets without a show of reasonable suspicion. The ruling that human rights groups argue is just another example of aggressive government surveillance came Tuesday, after a US federal judge dismissed a lawsuit challenge on the border search policy.

The suit was filed by American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) on behalf of Pascal Abidor, a scholar with dual US-French citizenship, more than three years ago. Abidor said he was sitting in the train's cafe car when an officer forced him to take out his laptop and enter password.
