Stealing is not corruption - ICPC Chairman, Mr. Nta




The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta recently agreed to a statement made by President Jonathan during his May 4th media chat that, stealing is not corruption.

While addressing members of  the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, at the ICPC Headquarters' in Abuja, Mr Nta said there is a difference between stealing and corruption  and it is wrong to classify theft as corruption. He said that we should refer back to what we were taught about stealing and corruption in school
"Stealing is erroneously reported as corruption. We must go back to what we were taught at school to show that there are educated people in Nigeria. We must address issues as we were taught in school to do".

Woman Sentenced to 14 Years for Stealing N3.15 Million in Abuja




A 22-year-old cashier, Mariam Salifu was sentenced to 14 years in prison for stealing N3.15 million belonging to her employers. The decision has been announced by an Abuja Magistrate Court, on September 9, 2013, Monday.

26-year-old Abuja Actress Jailed for Stealing IPad, IPhone and jewellery




A 26-year-old actress Nancy Ndukwe of Jikwoyi, Abuja, was sentenced by Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court on September 6, 2013, Friday. She was convicted for two months of imprisonment for stealing an IPad, IPhone and jewellery.

Cpl. Paul Anigbo, on the side of the prosecution, told the court that the matter was reported at the Lugbe Police Station by one Faith Njoku of Kapuwa Village, Lugbe, Abuja on September 2.

The prosecutor told the court that Nancy Ndukwe visited her friend Njoku on the above-mentioned date and stole her IPad, IPhone and jewellery, all valued at N190,000.

Male & Female Assistant get 24 Years For Stealing Ordinary Mosquito Nets



An Asaba Chief Magistrate’s Court has sentenced head storekeeper attached to Millennium Development Goals, MDGs, office Asaba and his assistant to 24 years imprisonment for stealing treated mosquito nets.
But no matter the billions a big man steals in Nigeria, he wont spend more than six months or two years in prison and will even be asked to pay a "ridiculous" fine and go home.

Jungle Jungle : Lagos Angry Mob Sets Robbers Ablaze For Stealing Recharge Cards



An angry mob has set three suspected armed robbers ablaze in Ikotun, Lagos State.  PUNCH Metro learnt on Thursday that the robbers were set on fire on Wednesday evening, shortly after robbing a recharge card trader at Second Junction bus stop on Governor’s Road. Our correspondent, who visited the area, observed burnt tyres, carcass of a burnt motorcycle and some human flesh on the side of the road.
The recharge card trader, Ese Akporhono, who had a bandage on her head, told our correspondent that the robbers came to her shop posing as customers.  She said a few seconds later, the suspects pointed a gun at her and stolerecharge cards worth N400,000 before fleeing.

Why It Is profitable to stealing From Churches - Robbery suspect



Anti-robbery policemen attached to Oko-Oba division have arrested a 32-year-old man who allegedly specialised in bugling churches around Oko-Oba area of Lagos.  The suspect identified as Sannu Umaru was reportedly caught in the act inside one of the Pentecostal churches in Oko-Oba, weekend.

Umaru who claimed to be son of a retired army personnel, told policemen during interrogation that he preferred stealing from churches because of the security lapses.  Preliminary investigation, according to police sources, revealed that Umaru was allegedly involved in some robbery incidents in churches around the area. Before his arrest, he allegedly bugled a church where he made away with some musical instruments.

According to Police sources, “on that fateful night, he scaled the fence of the church and went to where the musical instruments were. As he was about carrying the piano valued close to half a million naira, one of the instruments fell down and attracted the night guards who went for him.

Heartless: Woman burns son’s face and stabs him in the head for stealing soup ( Photo)



A 25 year old petty trader has been arrested by police in Ibeju Lekki for allegedly burning her 6 year old son's face for going into their neighbour's home and licking their soup.

Not only did Sakirat Attah burn her son's face with hot iron after the neighbour reported her son to her, she also used a broken bottle to stab young Daniel in the head. You can see the photo above. How you can do this to your own child is beyond me.

Sakirat took her son into their one room apartment after finding out what he did, locked the door, lit a stove, put an iron spoon on it to get hot and used it to burn his face and hands as punishment. And when that wasn't enough, she broke a bottle and stabbed him in the head, leaving a deep cut. Daniel later told police he stole the soup because he was hungry.

Man Gets DEATH Sentence For Stealing JEEP In Benue - What's Your Point Of View On This??




A High Court sitting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, has sentenced a middle-aged man, one Tersoo Terna, to death by hanging  for stealing a Toyota Hilux Jeep belonging to a clergyman.

Justice Adam Onum, on Thursday, convicted the robber for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

The robber, according to the state prosecuting counsel, Mrs Jean Abba Ewurum, had told the court that the convict and three others now at large, conspired, attacked and robbed one Reverend  Peter Azuana of NKST at Mkar in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State in  May 2012.

EFCC Arraigns Kebbi State Director For Stealing N64m




The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a Director with the Kebbi state, Ministry of Finance , Yahaya Saidu Andarai and one  Farouk Abubarka Uduli, before the Lagos  High Court in Ikeja for allegedly stealing the sum of N64million belonging to Coscharis Motors Ltd.
The two men, who were arraigned before Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo, are facing a 27 count charge of conspiracy , fraud and stealing.
The defendants were accused by the EFCC of  converting the said sum  which is  the proceed of AX motorcycles,  property of Coscharis Motors entrusted to them on behalf of Jega National Union Local Government Employees of Kebbi state.

Man Gets 45 years for stealing Gov Aregbesola’s N50k phone



A 31 year old named Kevin Ighodalo (pictured above), has been sentenced to 45 years imprisonment by an Osogbo High Court for stealing a Sony Ericsson phone said to be worth about N50,000 belonging to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State. Below is how Punch is reporting it
Ighodalo stole the phone from the pocket of Aregbesola on November 27, 2010, when the governor was being inaugurated at Government Technical College, Osogbo.
Justice Oyejide Falola, who heard the case, found Ighodalo guilty on six counts, which included conspiracy, stealing and fraud.
He was sentenced to 10-year imprisonment for the first three counts and five years for each of the last three which included impersonation, obtaining property by falsehood and collusion.
Falola, who ruled that Ighodalo deserved the jail term, held that the convict used the phone to obtain N500, 000 from the Owa of Ilesa, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, while he obtained N200, 000 from Mr Shengen Rahman, an associate of the governor.

Jungle Jungle: 3 Female Students Beaten To Coma For Stealing Underwear In Delta






Angry market women yesterday beat three female undergraduates to coma at the popular Asaba Ogbegonogo market, in Delta State for allegedly stealing various pants at the boutique line.

Eyewitness said that the suspects were caught with the pants after they had pretended to be customers and paid for two different ones selected from the hangers.
It was gathered that the suspects’ who are undergraduates of the state owned university were said to be regular visitors to the market.

Female Undergraduate Gets 36 Strokes For Stealing Tomato



A female undergraduate identified as Maria from a popular university in the Niger Delta region was yesterday given 36 strokes of cane for allegedly stealing a bowl of tomato seed at the popular Ogbeogonogo Market in Asaba, Delta State.
Eyewitnesses said the lady, who was accompanied by one of her class mates to the market to buy seed tomato in preparation for her birthday celebration today, was allegedly caught while taking the bowl away without payment.
LEADERSHIP SUNDAY gathered that the suspect had excused her friend on the spot to buy other things for the birthday when she unsuspectingly picked the bowl of the tomato out and after a period of time of search by the seller, she was found with the missing bowl.

Final Year Student Arrested For Stealing 4-Year-Old Boy In Delta



A 20-year-old final year student of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku was Monday, paraded at the State police headquarters Asaba for allegedly stealing a toddler from a day-care school.
State police commissioner, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba said that “the suspect who once did her IT in the said day care and primary school in Asaba sneaked in and took away the child. Unfortunately, she forget her bag which assisted us (police) in tracing her to Onitsha where the child was rescued”.
The suspect (names withheld) who claimed to be presently pregnant and a mother of two denied stealing the baby.

Less than 24 hours after an Abuja High Court sentenced Pension Thief John Yakubu Yusuf to two years in prison for admitting to stealing around N2 billion, an Ikare Magistrate Court in Ondo State has sentenced another man to three years in prison for stealing a telephone handset worth N17, 000.
The Abuja court had on Monday sentenced the former director of the Police Pension Board, John Yakubu Yusuf, to two-year imprisonment.

Man Sentenced To 2 years Imprisonment For Stealing Vegetables





A Magistrate Court sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Wednesday sentenced a 49-year-old man, Mr. Mustapha Adesina, to two years imprisonment for stealing vegetables valued at N5, 000.
Adesina, who pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him when the matter was mentioned, was accused of harvesting vegetables on the complainant’s farm every Sunday. The Police Prosecution Officer, Mr. Augustine Ozimini, told Magistrate Idowu Olayinka, that Adesina committed the said offence on January 20 at Ita-Ika area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

NITEL Manager, 16 Others Arrested For Stealing NITEL Cables Worth N50 Million




The Police have arrested a Nigeria Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) Manager and 16 others for allegedly stealing NITEL cables worth N50 million from its warehouse in Victoria Island, Lagos. According to DailyPost, which reported the news, the suspects were apprehended at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday at NITEL Warehouse, Saka Tinubu, Victoria Island, Lagos. Mother of five jailed for stealing jewelry





An Oshodi Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday sentenced a 27-year-old woman to two years’ imprisonment for stealing jewellery worth N800,000,
The Magistrate, Mrs M.R, Osho-Adebiyi, convicted Mosurat Ismalia on two counts of conspiracy and stealing and did not give her an option of fine.
