Shocking: Liberian woman found hanging in Lagos
Earlier today a pic was shared here of a suspected suicide victim in the Magodo part of Lagos. The lady found hanging from the tree in the first hours of today September 12th on Bankole Street, Isheri-Oke, Lagos has been identified as a Liberian woman simply called Kate.
According to Punch, the woman was a worker in a sachet water factory before she killed herself. A resident of the area said people in the area started to distance themselves from her after the outbreak of Ebola in Lagos which was brought into the country by a Liberian. They also started avoiding her because of her ill health, a situation believed to have frustrated her enough to commit suicide.

Hit & Run driver Kills LAWMA official In Lagos
Punch learnt that although the driver managed to escape, the vehicle’s number plate fell in the process and had been handed over to security officials.It was gathered that the driver, who was on top speed, wanted to beat the traffic snarl when he rammed into the victims, identified as Lateefat Sulyman and Fatimoh Ajetunmobi.

Lagos, 20 other states get new Police Commissioners
Lagos State now has a new police commissioner. His name is Kayode C. Aderanti and he takes over from Umar Manko. 20 other states got new commissioners. Find the Police press statement below...
"In line with the determination and drive to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for improved service delivery, the Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGPSuleiman Abba, NPM, NPOM, mni has released the posting of Commissioners of Police (CPs) to head Police Commands in 21 States. Another Ebola case confirmed in Lagos + Sister of late PH doctor discharged
The Special Assistant to the Minister of Health on Media and Communication, Dan Nwomeh took to twitter to generally share a few of the statements the minister made during a media conference held earlier today Sept. 8th. We pray before every operation, say suspected robbers
One of the suspected robbers, Mutalubi Abdullahi, explained that the prayer was to ensure that only ‘sinners’ would be dealt with by the gang, while the ‘innocent’ would be spared.
Abdullahi, who was arrested along with Ismaila Moruf, Opeyemi Akinyemi and Sarah Emmanuel, were arrested by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command, for robbing early morning pedestrians and motorists in the Mile 2 area of the state.

Lagos warns Nigerians against fake Ebola test kit
The government, in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr Hakeem Bello, explained that the reality on ground was that there was nothing like that.
It added that the product, which was called Rapid Response Canada, was nothing but a hoax to rip-off unsuspecting Nigerians of their earned money.

Photo: 20yr-old Covenant University Student Kidnapped, Murdered in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the kidnap and murder of a 20-year-old undergraduate, identified as John Chinedu Okere, who until his death was a 300 level Electrical Engineering student at Covenant University, Otta in Ogun State.
According to reports, Chinedu left his parent’s house in the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2014, to a Hospital in Yaba, Lagos for medical reasons and never returned. He reportedly left home with about N6000 and that was the last time he was seen alive.

Obasanjo hails FG, Lagos on Ebola virus containment.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has hailed the efforts by the Federal and Lagos State governments to check the spread of the Ebola virus disease in the country.
Obasanjo said if the Federal Government had given the same prompt attention to rescuing the abducted Chibok girls, the story could have been different now.

Photo: Human parts syndicate busted in Lagos
Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, Lagos have smashed a syndicate that specialize in selling human parts, Vanguard reports. The 3 suspects whose names were given as Mustapha Muritala, Sunday Oluyeba and Adenike Olanrewaju, were arrested at the Ojumerin area of Sagamu, Ogun State following a tip off. Recovered from the suspects were two human skulls suspected to have been procured from a graveyard.

Another Liberian reportedly certified with the Ebola Virus In Lagos
According to CKN programme, a Senior Registrar with Igbobi Orthopaedic hospital, Lagos, Dr Akindele Akintayo revealed today on a TV programme that another Liberian have already been detected with the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria.
Dr. Akintayo said on the programme that the Liberian has been kept at the IDH in Lagos and couldn't confirm if the newest case had a connection with late Mr Sawyer or not. More with this later...

Cultists lay three-day siege on Lagos streets
Residents of Adedoyin, Awofeso, and four other streets in Somolu, Lagos have recounted how some suspected cultists attacked the area, injuring people and stealing their belongings last weekend.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the other areas touched by the armed cultists included Olorunshogo, Eyo, Ige and Opeloyeru streets. Our correspondent gathered that the cultists attacked the area from about 10pm on Friday evening, going from street to street. They were said to have struck on no fewer than seven streets by Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Cheque Forgery Syndicate nabbed In Lagos
Recovered from the suspects were two dud cheques, fake letter heads of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and that of the state’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Development which they allegedly intended to use to procure United Kingdom visa. The suspects’ modus operandi, as gathered, included visiting banks around Lagos pretending to be transacting one business or another. Meanwhile, they would be on the look out for any customer who is careless with his cheque book with the aim of stealing such.

Men in Uniform Kidnap Woman in Lagos
A four-man gang said to be kidnappers stormed Oshodi under bridge on Saturday, snatching a young woman at gunpoint. One of them was reported to have worn the uniform usually used by officials of the anti-robbery squad.
Punch reports that the victim was walking along with her mother when she was confronted by the men. It was said that the mother was threatened with a gun when she wanted to defend her daughter.
The gang, who were said to have arrived at the Oshodi area around 2.30pm, whisked the woman away in a Honda Pilot jeep.

Rampaging soldiers set Lagos BRT buses on fire
A soldier was allegedly killed by a BRT bus.
Soldiers are on a rampage along Ikorodu Road in Lagos destroying BRT buses, residents have said.
The soldiers’ actions was said to be caused by a BRT bus that allegedly run a soldier over at the Palmgrove bus stop killing him.

Passenger boat capsizes in Lagos, one missing.
A passenger boat conveying ten passengers capsized in the afternoon of Monday June 16th in Lagos. According to passengers on the boat, that was maneuvering to Coconot Island from Tincan Island, waves from bigger boats passing around them during the time caused the boat to get rid of balance and capsize.
Despite all the passengers were wearing life jackets, someone drowned and his life jacket was spotted floating around. Other passengers were rescued. The human body of the missing person is yet to be recovered.

Pictures: Cultists destroy around 20 cars in Bariga, Lagos
Some teenagers believed to be members of a cult group went on a rampage around 10pm yesterday in the Bariga part of Lagos, destroying many cars. The mayhem started from Ore-efero street and spread to other streets in Bariga. The folks who live in the community say the guys started quarreling and it escalated into a full blown street war with cars parked on the way taking the biggest brunt of their anger.
When residents called the authorities in Somolu, the Police there allegedly said the region is not their coverage. See more photos after the break.
