Pastor Accused of raping 12-year-old girl

A pastor, Alasco Sobowale, has been accused of raping a 12-year-old girl (name withheld) in Epe, Lagos State. The pastor was said to have allegedly had carnal knowledge of the girl at their home located at 10, Togodo Street, Temu Town.
The victim’s aunt, Mrs. Ngozi Anjorin, said the incident occurred on December 15, 2012.
Anjorin said the victim only spoke Igbo Language and had recently arrived Lagos from Imo State.
She said Sobowale, who also speaks Igbo, allegedly lured her niece to the toilet around 9pm and had sex with her.

The president yesterday visited Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, at the Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja, where he is receiving treatments for the injuries he sustained in a car crash last Friday. Governor Wada's ADC, Idris Mohammed died in the crash and has since been buried.


Ben Murray Bruce Now The Chairman Of FRCN



The Chairman of Silverbird Group and former Director-General of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Mr Ben Murray Bruce, has been named the chairman of the board of directors of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).  The Secretary to the Government, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim made the announcement yesterday. Other board members are: Funke Egbemode, Bola Doherty, Farouk Dalhatu, J. N. Chinedu, Hajia Hauwa Kida, Chief Elvis Agukwe, and Abubakar Sarkin Fawa Damboh.

Ailing Taraba Governor Danbaba Suntai Makes 1st Public Appearance



More than two months after crashing his plane near Yola airport, ailing Taraba State governor, Danbaba Suntai, has made his first public appearance...not physically but in a photo recently released by people in his administration which shows him carrying one of the twins his wife delivered December 6th.  The photo was taken in the restaurant of a German hospital where the governor has been receiving treatment for multiple fractures following the plane crash. 

Some people feel that the photos were released to show the governor was doing well and prevent his deputy, Garba Umara, who is now acting Governor, from being sworn in as governor after some media sites claimed Suntai had suffered severe brain damage following the crash. 

Pres GEJ Claims He Had Nothing To Do With Abuja Posters




President Goodluck Jonathan today denied having a hand in the campaign posters that flooded the streets of Abuja yesterday January 1st, announcing his readiness to contest in the 2015 elections. His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati said those behind the posters didn't do it with the president's permission.
'Those pasting the posters are trying to express their own view. The president had stated that he will talk about the presidency from 2014. Those doing these do not have the consent of the president. What is most important now is for the president to deliver on his electioneering promise to Nigerians and not to embark on the pasting of posters. It has not come from the president. Nigerians should take the president for his word and ignore any other information to the contrary”

Man Arraigned For Renting 2 Rooms To 50 People At The Same Time




An estate agent and a landlord’s son have been arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrate’s court for allegedly conspiring and renting a bedroom and sitting room apartment at 9 Olorunwa Street Shasha, Lagos to 50 prospective tenants at the same time.  36-year old Adedoyin Agboola was arrested and charged for deceiving the prospective tenants to give him N10 million on the pretence of renting out the apartment to them.

An Iranian judge yesterday sentenced a 24-year-old man to 1 million years imprisonment for possession of child pórnography. Mohammed Kenare was sentenced Wednesday morning by a local judge who in his ruling held that possession of child pornography (video) is an act that could only be committed by a despicable and satanic person and that he (Kenare) should be locked up "for as much years as the devil should be locked up".

Korean owners of the Hyndai Heavy Industries paid N30m to the kidnappers of four of their workers at the company in Okpoama, Brass Local Government, Bayelsa State, it has been confirmed. Eight gunmen on December 17, 2012 raided the firm and kidnapped Jong Ken, Hi Kim, Doo Lee, Joon Chae and a Nigerian, Austin Giwa.

Actor, Muyiwa Ademola Involved In Fatal Accident




A report written by popular blogger, Sheifunmi, says Muyiwa Ademola, a Nollywood actor, who features mostly in Yoruba movies, was involved in a serious road accident, as 2012 was ending. According to the MTV presenter, “In other news, another Yoruba actor Muyiwa Ademola was also involved in another accident on December 30,2012, fatally injured and receiving treatment.”Ademola lost his father last August.

Another tragedy has just hit Nollywood; one of the finest actresses, Bisi Komolafe is said to have died yesterday night at UCH, Ibadan.
The cause of her death according to report is that she had complications with her four months pregnancy which resulted in a miscarriage.

Lagos State Government Donates Sum Of N4.5m to ailing actress,Ngozi Nwosu

Lagos State government today gave actress Ngozi Nwosu N4.5million to help with the treatment she needs urgently. The actress has been battling with a kidney and heart-related ailment for a while now and needed N6million for treatment abroad. She raised N2million from well meaning Nigerians a few weeks back and needed N4million extra.

Ngozi can now have the treatment she needs thanks to Governor Babatunde Fashola. God bless everyone else who donated.

Hillary Clinton Hospitalised With Blood Clot




US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been sent to the hospital with a blood clot stemming from a concussion she suffered earlier this month and is being assessed by doctors, a State Department spokesman said. “In the course of a follow-up exam today, Secretary Clinton’s doctors discovered a blood clot had formed, stemming from the concussion she sustained several weeks ago,” spokesman Philippe Reines said in a statement on Monday.

Police Rescue Lady From Ritual Killers




The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Victor Babayemi, in a statement on Friday, said the suspect, Ayodele Jinadu, was arrested for alleged attempt to decapitate his victim who he had lured to a hotel. The PPRO said the victim who had machete cuts all over her body was rescued and taken to the hospital where she was treated. Jinadu said the suspect confessed to the police that he was sent by a man who needed the head for ritual purposes. The statement read in part, “Operatives of the Ekiti command arrested Jinadu, 30, who lives No. 8, Eleguru Street, Ado-Ekiti, for attempting to take Kacha’s life.

Policeman Among 5 Killed as JTF, Gunmen clash




Five people including a policeman and suspected Boko Haram members died at the weekend during a clash between the military Joint Task Force (JTF) and the Islamist sect near Potiskum in Yobe State. JTF spokesman in Yobe, Lt. Eli Lazarus said the task force conducted a ‘cordon and search’ in Yindiski area in Potiskum, at about 2pm on Saturday, leading to a bloody clash between the soldiers and Boko Haram, noting that five persons were killed while 59 suspects were arrested.
