Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been officially sworn in as Turkish president after winning the country’s first public vote for head of state.
Mr. Erdogan, who served three terms as PM, has vowed to give more power to the previously ceremonial post.
Critics of Mr. Erdogan say the move will make him more authoritarian. Opposition MPs walked out of the ceremony.
Outgoing Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is set to be PM after being elected head of the governing AK Party.
Mr. Erdogan promised in his presidential oath to protect Turkey’s independence and integrity, to honour the constitution and adhere to the principles of the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Control of Ebola epidemic will take 6 months - President of Doctors Without borders
"The main thing I come back to is that it is deteriorating faster, moving faster than we can respond to. To put it in context with my time with DWB, I really feel that it is like wartime, in terms of fear and nobody knowing what is going on. We need a response in terms of international organizations and states, and it needs to happen now if we want to contain this epidemic. Over the next six months we should get the upper hand on the epidemic, this is my gut feeling. We need people with a hands-on operational mindset to combat the outbreak." she said

Jonathan may be Nigeria's last president - Ex-Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu
Former Governor of Abia state, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, while speaking with airport correspondents yesterday as he returned from a trip to the UK, said if things are not properly checked politically, President Jonathan might be the last president Nigeria will have.
"When I was travelling precisely on the 26 of April, I left this airport and I spoke to the airport correspondents and I said there was a need to collaborate with international organisations. You see, this issue is not about President Goodluck Jonathan. If we don’t take time and work together as Nigerians, Jonathan might be the last Nigerian President. Jonathan might be the Gorbachev of Nigeria. And that is the truth, so we better wake up. Political class, business class, military, civilians must now stand up to work for our internal security. Internal security is more important than anything we have done and I believe that once we are able to come together Nigeria will be alright. As of now the country is in pains; the country is in problem and some people are taking it very lightly.Continue after the break.

Homos-exual Governors Declare War On President Jonathan Over Anti-gay Bill
Fresh and authentic news filtering in social circle indicates that a group of powerful politicians, who are prominent in the act of homosexuality, are the force behind the seemingly unpopular agitation against the anti-gay bill, which was recently signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan.
At the forefront of this group is a very powerful oligarchy, which has seen it all in the business circle having been on the board of many viable companies including a bank owned by a very powerful chief from the South West.

RE: BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE
I wish to formally acknowledge your letter dated December 2, 2013 and other previous correspondence similar to it.
You will recall that all the letters were brought to me by hand. Although both of us discussed some of the issues in those letters, I had not, before now, seen the need for any formal reply since, to me, they contained advice from a former President to a serving President. Obviously, you felt differently because in your last letter, you complained about my not acknowledging or replying your previous letters.
It is with the greatest possible reluctance that I now write this reply. I am most uneasy about embarking on this unprecedented and unconventional form of open communication between me and a former leader of our country because I know that there are more acceptable and dignified means of doing so.

President Goodluck Jonathan commends The Golden Eaglets + Atiku Salutes The Boys
President Jonathan
Today, I commend Nigeria's Golden Eaglets due to their well deserved victory at the FIFA Under-17 World Soccer tournament in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, UAE.
The players played with great skill and projected the Nigerian can do spirit and the result is that Nigeria has become a four time champion. This may not come at an improved time seeing that Nigeria is on the cusp of celebrating our centenary as a nation.
