Guard On Rescue Mission Mistakenly Kills Boss



The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old security guard, Segun Salami, for allegedly killing his boss, Alhaji Taiyewo Awolesi, in Ewuowa, Ikorodu area of the state.
The police said the suspect was on his way to rescue Awolesi, who was being harassed by touts in the area, when he shot him in error.

Police Kill Kidnapper, Rescue Two Chinese In Ogun



The Ogun State Police Command has rescued two Chinese nationals from kidnappers in Ogijo area of the state.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the victims, Sung Jiang She and Zhang Wen Xue, who are employees of Lee Group of Companies, were kidnapped at Odongunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos State and taken to a house at Sagamu-Ikorodu Road.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, told PUNCH Metro on Tuesday that the police were able to trace the kidnappers to their hideouts and a gun duel ensued during which one of the kidnappers was killed.
He said, “Around 3pm on Monday, the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone 2, Mammam Tsafe, called the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, informing him that two Chinese nationals had been kidnapped at Odongunya, Ikorodu, Lagos state.

Guy, 26, killed after jumping in front of train to rescue his iPhone




A man was tragically killed by an oncoming train after he jumped in front of it in order to retrieve his fallen iPhone, according to a statement released by the New York Police Department. The man, who was identified as a Bronx DJ, dropped his iPhone on the subway tracks, but was electrocuted after he was too impatient to wait for a worker to retrieve it for him, police said.

Francisco Diego, Jr. notified a tollbooth clerk that he had dropped the smart phone shortly before 1:10 am, police said. She told him to wait while she would help him retrieve it. However, the impatient man jumped into the tracks when a train arrived on the scene. Diego positioned himself in between two cars and tried to grab his phone, only to electrocute himself on the third track, police said.

Police Rescue 2 Men From Being Set Ablaze By Commercial Motorcyclists



Policemen from Karu Abattoir outpost in Abuja on Tuesday rescued two men, accused of stealing motorcycles, from being set ablaze by an angry mob at the Old Karu Road.
A source at the police outpost, who pleaded for anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the policemen got a distress call that motorcycle thieves had been caught.“On our arrival at the place, we saw people putting together disused tyres and petrol to burn the alleged thieves.
“We had to fire several shots into the air to disperse the mob, after which we brought them to the office.“Before our arrival, the mob had vented their anger on the two young men, with their blood splattered all over them.“They would have been killed but for our intervention,” he said.

JTF arrests gunmen, rescue 4 women in Kano






KANO — The Military Joint Task Force, JTF, in Kano, yesterday, said it had arrested seven gunmen and rescued four women.
Capt. Ikediechi Iweha, the JTF spokesman, told newsmen that the gunmen were arrested in Farawa.
He said the women were rescued in Sheka area, in the outskirts of Kano metropolis.
He said the operation was carried out early yesterday morning, followed a tip-off from members of the public.

Police rescue drowning sèx doll from river




Police in Shandong Province, China, received calls that were reporting that a woman's body is floating in the nearby river.  A team 18 of police officers, medical workers and firefighters rushed to the scene as the drama unfolded.

They worked frantically for almost an hour to rescue what they thought was a woman drowning, the news media reported.  Hundreds of people had gathered to watch the heroic rescue.
Police stopped traffic so that the ambulance can rush the woman to the hospital as soon as she is rescued. 

But when officers finally managed to bring the drowning woman to shore, they were shocked and disappointed to discover it was an inflatable sex doll.

Nigeria can take all of Botswana's cattle, the High Commissioner of Nigeria to Botswana, Charles Cocodia, said when he paid a courtesy call on Dikgang Publishing Company, the publishers of Mmegi and The Monitor newspapers, on Tuesday this week.
Ambassador Cocodia, who was accompanied by his Second Secretary, Ibrahim Yusuf, was received by the Editor of The Monitor, Kagiso Sekokonyane, and the News Editor of both newspapers, Douglas Tsiako, standing in for the Editor of Mmegi, Tshireletso Motlogelwa, who was attending to other matters.

Fitted with a high-definition camera and ultrasonic sensors, snake robots are flexible enough to enter into a narrow opening and locate survivors under the rubble.

Police Rescue Stolen Baby



A nine-month-old girl, Funke Alabi, who was allegedly stolen at Oke-Ola Oro, Kwara State by her mother’s friend, identified simply as Shade, has been rescued in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olufemi Fabode, on Wednesday said Funke was kidnapped by Shade last Friday, (January 18) at her mother’s residence.  He stated that Shade had visited Funke’s mother, Muyiwa, on the guise of a reunion as they met last about two years ago. He explained that Muyiwa, who was happy to be reunited with her friend, went to the kitchen to prepare food for her.

Police Rescue Lady From Ritual Killers




The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Victor Babayemi, in a statement on Friday, said the suspect, Ayodele Jinadu, was arrested for alleged attempt to decapitate his victim who he had lured to a hotel. The PPRO said the victim who had machete cuts all over her body was rescued and taken to the hospital where she was treated. Jinadu said the suspect confessed to the police that he was sent by a man who needed the head for ritual purposes. The statement read in part, “Operatives of the Ekiti command arrested Jinadu, 30, who lives No. 8, Eleguru Street, Ado-Ekiti, for attempting to take Kacha’s life.
