Police Rescue 2 Men From Being Set Ablaze By Commercial Motorcyclists
Policemen from Karu Abattoir outpost in Abuja on Tuesday rescued two men, accused of stealing motorcycles, from being set ablaze by an angry mob at the Old Karu Road.
A source at the police outpost, who pleaded for anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the policemen got a distress call that motorcycle thieves had been caught.“On our arrival at the place, we saw people putting together disused tyres and petrol to burn the alleged thieves.
“We had to fire several shots into the air to disperse the mob, after which we brought them to the office.“Before our arrival, the mob had vented their anger on the two young men, with their blood splattered all over them.“They would have been killed but for our intervention,” he said.

Ban on commercial buses: Abuja residents trek long distances
The Wuse Market junction, usually crowded with mini cabs painted in green colour, was virtually free of vehicular traffic. It was quite an unusual sight. The pavements of the surrounding roads were crammed with hundreds of pedestrians heading to various destinations within and around the Federal Capital Territory.
At a glance, it seemed as if the people had deliberately decided to trek long distances. But a closer examination showed that most of them were engaged in the exercise against their own will.

Four Commercial Bus Robbers Who Drug And Rob Victims Arrested In Lagos
Four months after the murder of a post-graduate student of Nassarawa State University, Cynthia Osokogu by four men, five suspects have been arrested in Lagos for drugging and robbing commercial bus passengers at various points in the metropolis.
The suspects, Chibuike Mbakwe, Tochukwu Eze, Ifeanyi Okeke, Chidi Eze and Okechukwu Mbakwe are said to be members of a syndicate that specialises in robbing unsuspecting passengers in commercial buses by offering them sachet water laced with sedatives.
Last Tuesday, Chibuike, Eze and Okeke boarded a commercial bus in company with four others in the Ikeja area and headed for Yaba. Unknown to them, it was in the same bus that they robbed a sedated passenger the previous week.
