Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday tasked political leaders to adopt practical measures to accelerate effective utilisation of human and natural resources for sustainable development in the country.

Obasanjo gave the challenge while speaking at the maiden Jigawa Economic and Investment Summit in Dutse.

The summit was organised by the state as part of the activities to mark the 2013 Democracy Day celebration.

The major highlight of the summit was to encourage investment on agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), solid minerals and small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs).

The Saudi Arabian government has come under attack from its citizens for taking eight whole years to behead a convicted woman, local media reports. The Wuse Market junction, usually crowded with mini cabs painted in green colour, was virtually free of vehicular traffic. It was quite an unusual sight. The pavements of the surrounding roads were crammed with hundreds of pedestrians heading to various destinations within and around the Federal Capital Territory.

5-year-old boy sent away from school for having long hair (PICTURED)

The school, Roberts Road Elementary, in Hockley had turned away a 5-year-old boy for sporting a long hair during enrollment, as reported by local news, Thursday, January 10. The boy’s mother, Ursula Martin, said that her son’s hair was not a problem in the previous school that he came from. The family had just moved to Hockley. Martin could not understand how the length of his son’s hair could affect his education. Martin said: “He doesn’t feel like he should have to cut his hair to go to school.”
