Police arrest woman for burying baby alive





The Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested Miss Patience Aaron of Afaha Abia village, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of the state, for allegedly burying her day-old baby alive.
Briefing newsmen in Uyo, the Commissioner of Police, Gabriel Achong, said the baby, who was buried in a shallow grave, was rescued alive about seven hours later.

Nigeria Police Force Refutes Amnesty International Report !




The attention of the Nigeria Police has been drawn to an on-line publication entitled ‘Welcome to Hell-Fire’: torture and other ill-treatment in Nigeria. While we do not question the freedom of Amnesty International to earn its relevance and bread, the Nigeria Police takes serious exceptions to some blatant falsehoods and innuendoes contained in that report.

Cambodian Police arrest nine over organ trafficking




Chuon Sovan, Cambodian Police Chief, said on Monday in Phnom Penh, that nine hospital workers were arrested on suspicion of running an organ-trafficking ring. He said both the director and deputy director of the military Preah Ket Mealea Hospital in Phnom Penh were arrested, along with a Chinese doctor and several people described as Chinese-Vietnamese nationals.

Maidan Unrest Back to Life as Activists Clash With Police on Central Kiev Square



Clashes among activists and police broke out Thursday on central Kiev's Maidan Square, the flashpoint of the country’s pro-EU uprising in November 2013.
Activists were seen throwing stones and sticks at police and firemen in a bid to force them out of the square.
A RIA Novosti correspondent said that tires were set ablaze, with sounds of what appeared to be an explosion heard in downtown Kiev. Thick smoke has blanketed the square, where a protest camp was set up less than a year ago.

Photos as MD Abubakar hands over to new IG of Police, Suleiman Abba



 Following the appointment of Ag. IGP Suleiman Abba as the new Inspector-General of Police by President Jonathan, the new IG has today, August 1, formally taken over from former Police boss, IGP MD Abubakar who had successfully piloted the affairs of the Force from the 25th January, 2012 when he was appointed to July 31, 2014, having completed 35 years of service. The new IGP who hails from Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State holds degrees in History and Law and has attended several management and security courses within and outside Nigeria. He is an alumnus of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.

 Mad Man Stabbed Nigerian Policemen In Alakija Lagos

A suspected kidnapper who disguised as a mad man has been arrested at Alakija bus stop in Lagos after he allegedly attacked two policemen on duty with a bottle.  The drama took place in the premises of a Redeemed Christian Church of God in Alakija part of Lagos state Nigeria yesterday. The policemen on duty were attacked because they tried to chase an outrageous woman from the premises of the church.

New IGP: Pres. Jonathan, Police Council Choose Suleiman Abba





Indications emerged, yesterday, in Abuja, that President Goodluck Jonathan and the Police council made up of the 36 state governors and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Mike Mbama Okiro (IGP, rtd) have settled for the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7, Mr. Suleiman Abba as the next Inspector General of Police when incumbent, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar retires tomorrow after attaining the mandatory 35 years in service.

Police Nab Five Suspected Armed Robbers In Delta



Officers of the Delta State Police Command have arrested five suspected armed robbers along Aladja road, opposite DSC Company, Ovwian.
The state command spokesman, Celestina Kalu, who made this known to Daily Independent, said the suspects were arrested by the Anti-Crime Patrol team from Aladja Division.
He said the officers accosted the suspects who were six in number (four males and two females) in Golf car.
Kalu said during a search on the car, one of the suspects (male) escaped while another was shot on the leg while trying to escape too.

Loud Explosion in Osun: Bomb scare in Osun state, police say it was a dynamite



Pandemonium broke out in the More part of Ile Ife, Osun state after having a loud explosion erupted from the dynamite planted by unknown people within the area.

Their state Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Maishanu, while confirming the incident, stated that the explosive was a dynamite and not  a bomb as earlier speculated by residents of the area. He explained other dynamites planted in the community were also detonated by police anti bomb squad who arrived the scene immediately. He stated there  was no casualty from the explosion and no property was destroyed.

PDP Claims Police Attacked APC Supporters To Protect Members From Rampaging Mob



The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that the police action against members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Ekiti earlier today was done to keep l”law and order.”

PDP Publicity Secretary, Olisah Metuh told SaharaReporters by phone that members of the PDP returning from an enormous rally headlined by President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday came under attack today by APC members, therefore necessitating police intervention to safeguard party members put through mob attack from the rival party.

 Mr. Metuh promised to offer proof the attack on PDP members to Saharareporters but hadn't done whilst at the time of publishing this report.

Horrific case: Children raped, forced to eat faeces in Indian school - police




The owner and manager of a children's boarding school in Maharashtra have been arrested after five minors said they were raped, forced to watch pornographic films and act them out with one another, police and charity workers said.


The children were made to eat faeces as a punishment if they did not comply.

The 52-year-old owner of the Chandraprabha Charitable Trust and his 30-year-old female manager were arrested on Monday after a police raid on the school in Karjat city. Continue...

‘I Go Die’ nabbed by police For Robbery In Delta




A man nicknamed ‘I Go Die’ (not the popular comedian, Francis Agoda, ‘I Go Dye’) has been arrested in Delta State by the police for an alleged robbery and kidnapping. 

‘I Go Die’, whose real name is Oghenewerute Efeyeme, was nabbed alongside his alleged accomplices; Oghenetaga Onome and Voke Erhiaware, popularly known as Simple. They were apprehended on Monday while trying to collect some amount of money from the victim, who they allegedly threatened to kidnap if he fails to part with some cash.

Lagos Court orders FG, police, to pay Sanusi ₦50million damages



A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Federal Government and the Nigerian police to pay for suspended Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, N50million as exemplary damages for unlawfully detaining him and seizing his passport on February 20th. The court also asked the authorities to immediately return his passport and warned them against arresting or harassing him again.

See Images of men who boarded Malaysian Airline with stolen passport - Police



 Malaysian Police have released images of the two men who boarded the missing Malaysia Airlines flight with stolen passports but say one of the men, 19-year-old Iranian Pouria Nur Mohammad Mehrdad, (pictured left) is known to them and they do not think he is a terrorist.  The police say the teenager is an Iranian asylum seeker on his way to Germany . Malaysian police say the identity of the other man is still under investigation and no longer strongly believes that the missing plane was attacked by terrorists. They say are now looking into four main areas: sabotage, hijacking or psychological problems among either the crew or the passengers.

Police Rescues Two ESUT Students From Kidnappers Den, Nabs One Suspect




The police in Enugu State, on Tuesday freed two students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, from kidnappers’ den.

The students, Alexander Afamefuna Akadieze of Amankwo Oghe, a third year student of department of political science and Miracle Chukwuemeka, a second year student of department of sociology, regained their freedom after one week.

Soldiers, Police, Hoodlums Clash In Enugu



There was pandemonium in the Coal City, Enugu, weekend, during a bloody clash between soldiers and the police which took place at Ibagwa-Nike area of the town leaving a yet-to-be identified person dead.
The crisis which later involved some hoodlums resulted in the escape of eight suspected murder and robbery kingpins earlier arrested by the Police from the state Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

NABBED RED-HANDED: Another Police Officer Demands Dollar Bribe From An American (VIDEO)




Another police officer has been filmed while negotiating a bribe. The incident apparently took place last week.  An American citizen was stopped at the Monument bank premises in Egbeda, Lagos, for wearing green cargo trousers – which is considered to be a military outfit. The whole exchange was recorded secretly by what seems to be a camera disguised as an electronic cigarette.

‘Why we hate the police’ - A soldier Opens up




A few weeks ago, precisely in the closing weeks of 2013, a rather disturbing but not entirely surprising piece of news almost went unnoticed: A group of soldiers numbering about 100 from the 31st Artillery Brigade, Minna, Niger State had stormed a police station in the town and held the officers hostage. Their mission of course was not to pay a courtesy visit in the spirit of ‘espirit de corps. The soldiers were on a revenge mission.

Yewande Akilapa is a future Nollywood actress. She's made the headlines, not for acting, but also for her involvement in theft.  According to reports by Stella Dimoko Korkus, Akilapa was caught stealing on Sunday January 12th 2014. Prior to this she have been arrested for theft in 2013, “Her matter was in the headlines in February 2013, when it was been reported that she was arrested for robbery by the authorities in Alade, in Somolu part of Lagos State. She was later taken fully to court by the authorities for prosecution, but she was discharged and acquitted after the court said her prosecutor didn't present an effective case that may leade to her conviction.

Another aoccurred on Sunday where she was caught red-handed and beaten by a furious residents before she was taken away by the police.
