Late Tasty Fried Chicken MD Bunmi Adedayo buried



 The dead body of TFC boss' only son, Bunmi Adedayo, who died on Wednesday September 25th of Pneumonia in a South African hospital were buried yesterday afternoon Thursday October 3rd at the Vaults & Gardens cemetery in Ikoyi, Lagos. Bunmi is survived by his parents, wife and two children. May his soul rest in peace...amen.

FG set to increase import duties on cars



Twenty-four hours after the  new automotive development plan was approved by the Federal Executive Council, the Federal Government on Thursday said a new tariff on the importation of cars would be announced soon.  The move will make imported cars more expensive thus, promoting the purchase of locally manufactured vehicles.

Italy Boat Sinking: Loads Of Migrants Die Off Lampedusa



At least 94 people have died after a boat carrying African migrants sank off the southern Italian island of Lampedusa, the island's mayor says.  More than 150 have been rescued but about 200 are missing, officials say.  Passengers reportedly threw themselves into
the sea as the vessel got into trouble and Italian officials were quoted as saying that dozens of people were still in the water.  Most of those on board were from Eritrea and Somalia, said the UNHCR. The boat was believed to have sailed from Libya, the Italian coast guard said.
Earlier this week, 13 migrants drowned while trying to reach Sicily.

Two Female Suspected Robbers Get Lynched In Aba



Two female members of a robbery gang that had been terrorizing Iheorji axis of Aba in Abia State  area were lynched to death last weekend. DailySun reports that the angry residents of the area killed the two girls, whose robbery gang had been giving them sleepless nights.

According to a resident, who would not want his name in print, for fear of attacks, no night passed without armed robbers operating in their area for at times, up to three hours unchallenged.

President Jonathan Mourns Victims Of Lagos Plane Crash, Orders Investigation



President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered a thorough investigation into the Associated Airline plane crash by all relevant agencies with a view to determining the cause and taking further actions, as may become necessary.

In a statement Thrsday, the Special Adviser to the President on
Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati quoted the President as saying “the President views the plane crash as most unfortunate and regrettable, given the concerted efforts of the Federal Government to enhance aviation safety in the country.

Cancer kills Bauchi Governor Yuguda's Sister



Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda's younger sister, Hafsat Yuguda Ibrahim, lost her long battle with cancer and passed away at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.
Director General of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), Mr. Asishana Okauru, has issued a condolence message to the Yuguda family.


The message reads, in part: "We hereby condole with  Governor Isa Yuguda, the government and people of Bauchi State and the entire Yuguda family over the death of Hajiya Hafsat Yuguda Ibrahim, the immediate younger sister of Governor Yuguda, who died of cancer on Wednesday.

Woman, 24, Shot Dead After Boyfriend Hugs Her



Phoenix, Arizona, U.S. -- A 24-year-old woman was fatally shot on Tuesday, after a gun wedged in the waistband of her boyfriend's pants went off and shot her. The unidentified woman was reportedly hugging her 18-year-old partner at the time when the weapon discharged. She had complained that the gun was making her feel uncomfortable and as her boyfriend removed the weapon, she was shot. The woman was taken to a local hospital, but later died, according to local police. The police are looking into the matter, but say the shooting appear to be an accident.

Army Bombard Boko Haram ‘Camp’ In Yobe



Nigeria’s military has launched air strikes on a Boko Haram camp, killing several Islamists, near a northeastern college campus where insurgents massacred over 78 students at the weekend, a spokesman said Thursday.

“We tracked the Boko Haram terrorists to their camp in the forest outside Gujba,” military spokesman in Yobe state Lazarus Eli said of the Tuesday operation.

#LagosPlaneCrash: Meet The Man Who Walked Out Untouched (PHOTO)



It was miraculous survival for Mr. Femi Akinsanya in yesterday’s Associated Airlines’ plane crash.  Akinsanya, son- in-law of the late former Governor Olusegun Agagu whose body was being conveyed to Akure, the Ondo State capital from Lagos for burial, walked out of the remains of the Embraer 120 aircraft.

Akinsanya, along with his brother in-law, Mr. Feyi Agagu, the late Agagu’s son, were the only family members of the late governor on board the ill-fated plane.

Nigeria fails global energy equity test – WEC



The World Energy Council has said Nigeria has not performed well in the global energy equity ranking.
This is according to the WEC’s 2013 Energy Sustainability Index, a global ranking of 129 countries based on their performances on the three aspects of the energy trilemma.
The index ranks countries in terms of their likely ability to provide sustainable energy policies through the three dimensions of the energy trilemma: Energy Security, Energy Equity, and Environmental Sustainability.

How Obasanjo received rumoured involvement of son, Gbenga



Fears on Thursday gripped many residents of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital following rumours of the involvement of Gbenga, the first son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the crash of the Associated Airline plane in Lagos.
The news which was first circulated through the social media filled many residents of the state capital with fears and apprehension as many started mourning with the Obasanjo family over the tragedy.

Agagu to be buried in hometown on Friday




The remains of the former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, will be buried in his hometown, Iju Odo, Ondo State, on Friday, despite the plane crash that occurred on Thursday in Lagos when the corpse was being conveyed to Akure, the state capital. The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the 2012 election in the state, Mr. Olusola Oke, said this in Akure after holding a meeting with the family members of the former state governor.

Ọmọ Oódua Blog has since found that contrary to Melaye's information, Agagu's wife had gone ahead to Akure before the corpse and WAS NOT on the ill fated plane.

#LagosPlaneCrash: Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Releases The Names Of Survivors & Dead Persons



An Associated Airline jet was carrying seven crew and 20 passengers heading to Akure, Ondo state for the burial of former Ondo State governor, Olusegun Agagu, who passed away September 13, 2013.

Agagu’s family members and Ondo state officials were in the plane. Two of Agagu’s children, a son and a daughter, did not survive. However, ex-governor’s wife was not in the plane crash; she and Agagu’s brother, Femi, arrived Akure earlier in a separate flight.
