Post Of The Day: #Independence53 – Don’t get it twisted, my tribe is Nigeria



My son sees my friends gather in the house and talk things Nigeria. He sees us watch Nigerian games on television and proudly waves the green-white-green flag. He rides in the car and mimes the Nigerian hip-hop songs. He doesn’t know under the American skies, he’s been shielded from the reality of a country sometimes so divided you wonder, is it really a country?
A year ago, my five year-old son was asked to give a talk to his class about himself. He stuns his teachers when he tells them he’s Nigerian. The teacher corrects him. “You’re American, your father was Nigerian as were your grandparents,” the head teacher tries to correct him.

Imagine: I Don’t Know Whether Boko Haram Leader Is Really Dead or Alive – Jonathan



Speaking on a nationwide radio/television programme Presidential media chat, which was monitored by Ọmọ Oódua blog,  President Jonathan revealed that just like majority of Nigerians who are puzzled by the validity of the death of Boko Haram leader, Shekau, as president, he does not know whether he is dead or alive.

Don’t be scared: Climate change forecasts were wrong



Top climate scientists have admitted their global warming forecasts are wrong and our planet is not heating at the rate they claimed it was. The final draft of a report to be published by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) later this month.

Students don’t want ASUU to end strike – ASUU president, Dr Isa Fagge -( True Or False ??)



The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said it is continuing its nationwide strike on the advice of university students.
In a telephone interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, the President of the union, Dr. Isa Fagge, said students were tired of the incessant industrial actions by the university lecturers due to the Federal Government’s failure to implement the agreement it had with ASUU since 2009.

Fagge said the union had decided to heed the advice of the students to continue the strike until the Federal Government fully implemented the agreement.

Don’t Impose Your Daughter As New Market Leader, Lagos PDP Warns Tinubu

The Lagos State PDP has warned former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, to rescind his decision to impose his young daughter, Shade Tinubu-Ojo, as the new Leader of Market Women in the State.
The former governor had announced this choice during the 8th day Firdau prayer for his late mother and former national leader of Nigerian market women, Abibat Mogaji.In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani, the Lagos state PDP said it noted “that the much touted democrat should allow the simple tenets of democracy to prevail in the selection of a new leader for the market women, more so as there is no cogent evidence that his nominee and 
The statement claimed that Mr Tinubu plans to confirm this choice to market leaders at a meeting he has summoned to hold on Tuesday at his residence.

Don’t pay ransom to pirates, kidnappers – Naval chief




The  Chief of Naval Staff, Vice-Admiral Dele Ezeoba, has urged members of the Nigerian Trawlers Owners Association not to pay ransom to pirates and kidnappers, who attack their trawlers.
Paying of ransom to the kidnappers, Ezeoba said, would perpetuate the vice in the country.
According to him, the country has a responsibility to adopt the measures to discourage the crime.
The Navy Chief spoke while receiving the National Executive of the Nigerian Trawlers Owners Association led by its President, Mr. Joseph Overo, in Abuja on Tuesday.

Don’t include APGA in merger – CNPP



Enugu State chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties has warned the All Progressives Congress not to include the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the APC merger plan.
The CNPP, which however called on APC to ensure that it dethrones PDP in the next general elections, advised its promoters to cut off the “leprous hands of the APGA”. The CNPP said the APGA was capable of undermining the APC good intentions.
