Forbes just released its World's Most Powerful People list and put Russian president Vladamir Putin before US president Barack Obama.  Additionally they said Dangote is stronger than President Goodluck Jonathan. Forbes Africa denies releasing Nigeria's Top 20 Richest Men list

There was a top 20 Richest Men in Nigeria list that made the rounds online last week purportedly released by Forbes. I'm sure some of you saw it. I didn't put it up because I searched Forbes' website and didn't find it there. I eventually found the originator of the list - a blog called Strategic Business Team. The National Examination Council (NECO) on Wednesday released the November/December 2012 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) with Kano and Lagos states respectively topping the list of states with high incidence of exams malpractice

Giving a breakdown, Registrar of the council, Professor Promise Okpala told newsmen in Minna that 21, 274 cases of exams malpractice was recorded across the country with Kano having the highest incidences of malpractice with 649 candidates, representing 13.96 percent out of 4,646 while Lagos state came second with 238 cases out of 6, 508 candidates – this was in sharp contrast with the FCT which had the lowest incidence with only five cases out of 1,322 candidates that sat for the exams.

The names of a  former National Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Bode George, and other ex-convicts, are still on the national honours list,  The PUNCH has learnt.

Other prominent convicts whose names are  on the list  are a  former Inspector-General of Police, Tafa Balogun;  ex-Managing Director of Oceanic Bank, Cecilia Ibru; her former counterpart in the defunct Intercontinental Bank, Erastus Akingbola; and  other ex-managing directors of banks  convicted after they were conferred with the  national honours.

Business mogul, Aliko Dangote can still hold his head high as the richest man in Africa just as the 2012 list of Africa’s 40 richest people came out with his name topping it. According to Forbes, most of his net worth lies in publicly traded Dangote Cement which operates in 14 African countries. Nicky Oppenheimer of South Africa comes in once again as the second richest, with a $6.4 billion fortune – down $100 million from the previous year.
