Microphone Blast Eliminates Afghan Governor At Eid Prayers
A bomb hidden in a microphone has killed an Afghan provincial governor as he made a speech at a mosque after Eid prayers in Logar, near to the capital Kabul.
Arsala Jamal was appointed by President Hamid Karzai, like all 34 provincial governors, and he was viewed as a close ally of the president, acting as one of his campaign managers in the 2009 election.
“This morning, governor Jamal was delivering a speech after Eid prayers when he was killed with a bomb planted in the microphone,” Logar provincial governor spokesman Din Mohammad Darwish. “The governor wished to speak and congratulate everyone on the occasion of Eid. At the least 18 others have already been wounded, including civilians and government employees.”

Bayelsa State police command have confirmed the kidnapping of President Goodluck Jonathan's Special Adviser on Research, Documentation and Strategy, Oronto Douglas'elder sister, Augusta Douglas-Ayam.

Men of the Nigeria Police Force were caught unawares on Monday when a gang of heavily armed gun men in their early 30s invaded the police station and disarmed them of their weapons in broad day light.
One policemen confessed:
“I was more or less to go in and check some detainees when I heard gunshots. I rushed out to be face-to-face with bandits in flowing caftans, and some in tattered army uniforms, shooting into the air and ordering us to come out and sleep on the road.
“They then started throwing explosives into the police station. The ground was seriously shaking.
"They later moved to the bank (about 100 metres away) and started shooting and throwing explosives. Some of the robbers were standing over us, while the rest were at the bank.

Michael Filani of the Department of Geography, University of Ibadan, passed away on Sunday, October 13, while watching the Nigeria/Ethiopia World Cup qualifying match. The Ikole Ekiti-born professor slumped and died while watching the match at his Oluyole Extension home in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. With over 35 years of experience in teaching and research, his areas of emphasis include transport planning and development; economic geography; and regional development planning. He served in several capacities both within and away from University of Ibadan. He wrote and published more than 90 articles, technical and consultancy reports on transport, regional development and planning, particularly in Nigeria. Gunmen Rob Makarfi Bank, Wreak Havoc For Two Hours "Non-stop"
On Sunday, October 13, armed robbers stormed an area Keystone Bank situated in Makarfi, Kaduna State, taking an undisclosed amount of cash with them.
The gunmen attacked the local police station and the financial institution with explosives, shooting sporadically.

National Dialogue: Presidency blasts Tinubu
The
Presidency has said the view expressed by a former Governor of Lagos
State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on the proposed national conference is not
that of the Yoruba. It said since Tinubu “spoke for himself,” his
opinion shouldn't be misconstrued to be that of the Yoruba. The Senior
Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr.
Doyin Okupe, stated this at a news conference in Abuja on Monday.
Okupe said that Tinubu's initial reaction on arrival from his overseas
medical trip on October 5 was not well-thought-out.
The
former governor, who is also the National Leader of the All
Progressives Congress, had described the national dialogue as “a
Greek gift and an act of public deception” which was ill-timed
because of its closeness to the forthcoming 2015 elections.

worse while the Presidency and the Federal Capital Territory
Administration intensify actions against “rebel” members of the party.

rebel members holding board appointments, the FCTA was determined to
make sure that more governors sympathetic to the Alhaji Abubakar
Barage-led New PDP lose their landed properties in Abuja.
One of many seven governors in the New PDP,
Rabiu Kwakwanso of Kano State, had a selection little bit of land
allocated to him in Maitama District, Abuja, revoked by the FCTA on
Saturday.
