Federal Gov. set to tackle rebel govs, Baraje

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party may take a turn for the worse while the Presidency and the Federal Capital Territory Administration intensify actions against “rebel” members of the party.
Our Source gathered on Monday that while the Presidency was set to remove such rebel members holding  board appointments, the FCTA  was determined to make sure that more  governors sympathetic to the Alhaji Abubakar Barage-led New PDP lose their landed properties in Abuja.
One of many seven governors in the New PDP, Rabiu Kwakwanso of Kano State, had a selection little bit of land allocated to him in Maitama District, Abuja, revoked by the FCTA on Saturday.
Our Source gathered that the FCTA was also set to remove what it termed “illegal structures on the land” measuring about 2,500 square metres.

Jonathan, rebel govs in make-or-mar meeting • President won’t shift ground –Presidency

President Goodluck Jonathan and seven aggrieved Peoples Democratic Party governors will today hold a crucial meeting that will determine the future of the factionalised ruling party.
Already, there are strong indications that the peace meeting may end in a stalemate.

The first indication came from the Presidency on Friday, when it said the President would not meet any of the demands of the aggrieved governors and other members of the New PDP.
Also sounding unyielding, the National Chairman of the New PDP, Mr. Kawu Baraje,  on Friday, said the aggrieved leaders of the party and the G-7 governors would give Jonathan a deadline at today’s  meeting.

‘South East govoment to give Achebe befitting burial’ – Orji

Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has expressed shock at the death of Professor Chinua Achebe, a literary Icon who just passed away. And Orji captured the shock of his death in the deceased literary words: “Things have fallen apart, the centre cannot hold, we are no longer at ease.”
The governor, however, said the governors of the South-East would do their best to give the departed a befitting burial. Ugochukwu Emezue, Chief Press Secretary to Orji, said that Ndigbo has lost a literary icon, a legend of all times and a hero whose novels remain a reference point in and outside the country.
The governor who lamented the exit of Prof Achebe maintained that he was yet to come to terms with the sudden demise of this statesman of international repute. He declared that the late Prof Achebe impacted positively on the lives of people through his literary works.
Achebe, the Abia governor stated, would be remembered for always standing up for Ndigbo at all times, despite all odds.
“Though Professor Achebe was challenged through an accident that affected his normal movement , he waxed stronger, impacting knowledge to the younger ones as a lecturer abroad” , the governor added.
