Police eliminate Customs representative while dispersing protesters



A licensed clearing agent, Ganiyu Adedoyin, has been killed in Oshodi, Lagos, by policemen attached to the Makinde Division.
Adedoyin was said to have died on Sunday after he was hit by a stray bullet from a policeman’s rifle while the businessman was having a meal of eko and peppersoup at a canteen.

Abu Dokpesi Nabbed Over Fraud



Abu Dokpesi, the look-alike younger brother of Daar Communication chairman, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi who is the man behind AFEMAI Line Transport Ltd, is in the storm. Few weeks back the businessman was arrested and detained at the Abuja Police Divisional Headquarters, opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria former head office. He was allegedly arrested in reaction to a petition in which the transport magnate, Dokpesi was alleged of stealing and selling 
federal government SURE P/FGN mass transport vehicles.

Lagos Gov. Fashola Agrees To Pay Pa Kasunmu’s Medical Bills



The Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, has taken it upon himself to save ailing Nigerian actor, Kayode Dosumu, popularly known as Pa Kasunmu. The governor was said to have reached the actor and consented to foot his total medical bill. The movie icon had cried to everyone to help him raise N12 million allow him undergo a medical treatment to improve his kidney and liver ailments. Recall that in 2012, Governor Fashola paid about N4.5 million for the medical surgery of another actor in Nollywood, Ngozi Nwosu.

Patience Jonathan bags doctorate degree in South Korea



Patient Jonathan was on Thursday awarded with a Honorary Doctorate degree by a South Korean Univeristy called "Hansei University" Patience JonathanMrs. Jonathan’s fourth doctorate since becoming Nigeria’s First Lady.

The awarding institution, Hansei University, said they honoured Mrs. Jonathan because she had worked“hard for many good causes.”

2015 Elections May Hold In January – Prof Attahiru Jega



If given approval by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the 2015 general elections will take place either in January or February of that year.

Chairman, INEC, Prof Attahiru Jega, dropped this hint at a two-day international workshop on “Ethics and Elections: Challenges and Institutional Responses” organised by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation in Abuja.

Governor Orji, Tells Police To stop Gov. Okorocha's Birthday Reception In Abia



The proposed civic reception in honour of Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, billed to hold today in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State, has been stopped on the orders of the state governor, Theodore Orji.

Abia governor who alleged that the reception was a ploy to launch the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state stopped the reception organised by rescue missionaries to mark the 51 birthday of Okorocha.

IFC to fund Nigeria's $5bn gas direction project



The Federal Government is in talks with the International Finance Corporation to greatly help to fund a national gas-pipeline network for the way to obtain power stations and industries.  Bloomberg on Thursday quoted the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, as saying the IFC was thinking about financing the 40-inch 683-kilometer (424-mile) Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano northern link, the principal network for the proposed trans-Saharan pipeline to Europe.
“We called for a mixed basket of debt and equity financing. Over the following half a year, when the front-end issues are sorted out, mobilisation and implementation of the financial support and the job, as well as project advisories and project support, will begin.”

Mom of Lagos airplane crash Victim: Samson died after I lost my hubby, girl within three days



The Agege, Lagos residence of the Hassans still maintained a gloomy silence a week after Samson Hassan, 27, along with some other passengers, died following the October 3, 2013 crash of an Associated Airline charter aircraft.
Samson was a photojournalist, working with MIC Caskets, which lost its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tunji Okusanya, his son, Olatunji Okusanya (Jnr) and four other employees in the crash.

Train kills an Adult male elephant : Check out Photo



An adult male elephant was Friday mowed down by way of a train in West Bengal's Darjeeling district, a forest official said.
The incident comes a day after a jumbo having its head chopped off was found also in the exact same district.  The incident happened in Mongpong, on the fringe of Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, once the Siliguri-Alipurduar Express hit the jumbo.

“The incident happened Friday morning. There is a need certainly to further restrict the speed limit of the trains on the Siliguri-Alipurduar stretch. We are discussing on lowering the speed limit to below 25 km,” said Chief Wildlife Warden N.C.Bahuguna.

As early as 7am on any day, Abdullahi Shuwa, pushes out the cart he uses to produce water around a neighbourhood in Ikeja, Lagos.
The 24-year-old man pushes the cart with 10 empty 25-litre kegs to a borehole where in fact the landlord of the home allows him to fill them at N10 each.
Shuwa is an indigenous of Niger State but speaks Yoruba fluently.
“I came to Lagos quite a long time ago. I git married here,” he told Saturday PUNCH.
If one is to consider the enthusiasm with which Shuwa carries out his daily routine of pushing his heavily-laden cart across the neighbourhood in search of customers, it's possible to conclude he makes a bundle from the business.

Blood Pool in Abeokuta as APC factions clash




No fewer than 40 persons sustained various level of injury on Friday within a bloody clash between rival factions of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ogun state. The fracas, occurred around 4pm at the state Secretariat of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) , one of the legacy parties that fused into APC at Leme along Abiola, Abeokuta. The party's Secretariat which includes been repainted in APC colour was damaged although some cars parked in leading weren't spared as members of the factions used guns, cutlasses, broken bottles in addition to other dangerous weapons freely during the clash.
