Why Al-Mustapha, Shofolahan Deserve to die – Lagos govt

It is not yet uhuru for Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer, CSO, to late Head of State, Gen Sani Abacha, over his acquittal by the Court of Appeal as Lagos State government on Monday, filed an appeal at the Supreme Court to challenge the court’s decision that set him and Alhaji Lateef Shofolahan free over the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola. Shofolahan was Kudirat’s aide.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, who disclosed this, said the state government took the decision after one month of thorough evaluation of the judgment and found out “there are enough and very good grounds for appeal.”

Lagos reiterates ban on Okada riders




The Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences on Saturday reiterated the ban of Okada riders on some restricted roads in Lagos Metropolis.
Mr Bayo Sulaiman, Chairman of the Taskforce told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that some motorcyclists still ply some restricted routes.
 NAN recalls that the Lagos Traffic Law, promulgated on Aug.2, 2012, bans the operations of motorcyclists on 475 roads across the state.
“The Okada riders should desist from flouting the law of their state, or face the consequences.
“We will not fold our arms and watch some people endanger the lives of others all in the name of commercial motorcycle operations.
” We are stepping up the enforcement of the Traffic Law, and we promise that anybody caught in the act will be made to handle the wrath of the law,” he said. (NAN)

Nigerian dies of alcohol overdose in India



A 28-year-old Nigerian has died while undergoing treatment at Inamdar Hospital, in India only a few minutes after a group of seven persons dropped him off at the hospital, then fled the scene.

According to PuneMirror, an Indian news portal, the man identified as Mbamara Chideara Festus, normally stays in Nigeria, but at the moment lives in Mumbai.

Jungle Justice: Man burnt to death for impregnating Mother, Daughter



The university town of Nsukka in Enugu State has witnessed yet another brutal death as a tipper driver who allegedly impregnated a widow and her daughter has reportedly been burnt to death by son of the widow, Sunday Ugwoke.  The tipper driver, Sylvester Ezema, attached to Ferguson Nig. Limited, hailed from Akpa Edem, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State and shared a common fence with his widowed lover, Mrs. Ugwoke. Reports said he had been having amorous dealings with the woman’s daughter too, unknown to the widow.

NDLEA Nabs student with hard drugs at Lagos Airport - Rome



The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said that it foiled an attempt by a 27 years old student, Chukwu Ramseyn Onyekaozuru, to smuggle 5.300kg of cannabis and 660 gramnmes of heroin to Rome, Italy.

Real Sh*t & Urine sold in Ho Municipality, Finland




The Ho Municipality has begun an apparently bizarre policy where residents trade faeces and urine for cash.  The dry toilet technology is an initiative from the University of Applied in Finland where faecal matters are changed into manure for purposes of growing vegetables.  The urine is separated from the faeces and permitted to decompose for about 6-12 months. Saw dust is utilized in treating the faeces in a separate chamber to speed up dehydration.  Residents are ready to cash-in on the new initiative. Officials of the Municipality tell Joy News they will utilize the initiative to tackle open defecation locally and also produce manure to improve agriculture in the country.

British police are looking into new information that has surfaced in connection with the 1997 deaths of Princess Diana and her companion Dodi Al Fayed, Scotland Yard said today.

“The Metropolitan Police Service is scoping information that has recently been received in relation to the deaths and assessing its relevance and credibility,” Scotland Yard officials said today in a statement. “The assessment will be carried out by officers from the specialist crime and operations command.
“This is not a re-investigation and does not come under Operation Paget,” the statement said.
