Many of them have promised him that they would never come back to terrorist activities. But now, some of the people whom Saif has saved from prison are demanding that he should be executed.

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole signs death sentence for kidnappers bill in to Edo state law



Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole today October 18th signed into the Edo State law, a bill that prescribes the death penalty for kidnappers. The death penalty is not just for kidnappers who kill their victims, its for many acts of kidnapping whether it involves murder or not. The newest bill also states that houses used by kidnappers will be demolished. Is this a delightful development or...? Please share your thoughts.

SA Exit seat on UN Security Council, says the 15-member body is incapable of resolving world conflicts.

Baby with four ear lobes, no genital dies in Makurdi - R.I.P



A child born in Makurdi on Thursday with four ear lobes and no genitals has died, a hospital official said.
The baby was delivered by Mrs. Mbanengen Emmanuel at about 5.30pm at Yima Hospital, located in International Market area, a suburb of Makurdi in Benue.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. John Dzike, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday that the baby died “few hours after delivery.
Dzike said the baby also had its intestines exposed at the lower the main abdomen.
According to him, it is the second time a baby with such form of complications was delivered at the hospital this year.
He explained that the defect was caused by malformation during pregnancy.
“This can be a case of congenital malformation. Some women use un-prescribed drugs during pregnancy; that is why it is very important to attend ante-natal clinics, especially in the initial 12 weeks.
“Diseases like virus, chicken pox, and mumps which are viral, could cause congenital malformation,” Dzike explained.

APC blast FG over ‘plot to break ASUU’




All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Federal Government of employing “cheap and ludicrous strategy” by utilizing market women, religious leaders and students to put strain on the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to call off its strike.

APC, in a record in Lagos, yesterday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, stated that the strike, that is now in its fourth month, could have ended by now if the Federal Government had pursued its negotiations with ASUU with half the power it had been using to rally various groups to protest from the union.

House of Representatives endorse tariff increase on imported cars



The House of Representatives Committee on Industry has endorsed the new automotive policy of the Federal Government, which seeks to increase the tariff on imported cars.
This is coming as the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Olusegun Aganga, said the potential for the automobile industry plan was to save as much as N550bn.

The Chairman, House Committee on Industry, Mr. Mohammed Onawo, said the implementation of the policy would attract new investments to the sector, protect local automotive manufacturers and create employment.

US Defense to sell advanced weaponry to Gulf countries for $10.8 bn





The Pentagon plans to sell its bunker buster bombs and cruise missiles for $10.8 billion to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. The deal follows a series of US weapons trades in recent years that have bolstered the air power and missile arsenals of Gulf states, which view Iran as a menacing rival with nuclear ambitions.

I also demand that the African Union, of which Muammar Gaddafi was a founder, should investigate into the murder of him and all the people who were with him on that day. I demand that the world community should help me to come in touch with my son Saif al-Islam, who has been isolated from all members of our family from the moment of his arrest. Saif's only “crime” is that he has warned that this revolution can only lead Libya to a chaos – which is something that we are witnessing now.

Wife accuses Hubby of acid shower threat



This incidence happened in Osogbo.  A home wife, Temitope Arowolo, on Thursday prompted an Osogbo Grade III Standard Court to melt her 15-year-old marriage to Kareem over an alleged p tub risk on her life.

Temitope had accused Kareem of beating and maltreating her, claiming that her partner would not provide for her needs.

“He beats me often and does not provide for our needs. He's always making troubles with me and sometimes would not present us food."

“I ended the business enterprise I was doing as a result of debts he made me to incur. He does not believe me, he feels I'm unfaithful to him,' 'she said.

Nigerian Police Threaten Strike



Some police inspectors and rank and file from the Imo State Police Command have threatened to take strike over their redeployment for some violence-prone states in the North. The aggrieved policemen who met in Benin, the Edo State capital, said they would start the strike in November.

However the Force headquarters has said that the   redeployment won't be revisited or changed and warned the affected officers against blackmailing law enforcement authorities.

Pres. Goodluck Jonathan sets deadline for registration of all Nigerians




President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday inaugurated the National Identity Card Project with a directive that all eligible Nigerians should be registered by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) by December 2014.

Jonathan gave the directive during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he also launched the National Identification Number (NIN), expressing displeasure at the proliferation of data capturing activities by private and public institutions in the country.
