Anti-Corruption Network gives Minister Of Aviation 3 days Ultimatum To Resign




An anti-corruption watchdog led by a former legislator, Dino Melaye, has given Nigeria's Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah 72 hours to resign from office.

The ultimatum follows revelations by SaharaReporters that she arm-twisted a cash-strapped agency in the aviation ministry to purchase two armored BMW 760 Li cars at highly inflated prices.

Wife accuses Hubby of acid shower threat



This incidence happened in Osogbo.  A home wife, Temitope Arowolo, on Thursday prompted an Osogbo Grade III Standard Court to melt her 15-year-old marriage to Kareem over an alleged p tub risk on her life.

Temitope had accused Kareem of beating and maltreating her, claiming that her partner would not provide for her needs.

“He beats me often and does not provide for our needs. He's always making troubles with me and sometimes would not present us food."

“I ended the business enterprise I was doing as a result of debts he made me to incur. He does not believe me, he feels I'm unfaithful to him,' 'she said.

Nigerian Police Threaten Strike



Some police inspectors and rank and file from the Imo State Police Command have threatened to take strike over their redeployment for some violence-prone states in the North. The aggrieved policemen who met in Benin, the Edo State capital, said they would start the strike in November.

However the Force headquarters has said that the   redeployment won't be revisited or changed and warned the affected officers against blackmailing law enforcement authorities.

Pres. Goodluck Jonathan sets deadline for registration of all Nigerians




President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday inaugurated the National Identity Card Project with a directive that all eligible Nigerians should be registered by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) by December 2014.

Jonathan gave the directive during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he also launched the National Identification Number (NIN), expressing displeasure at the proliferation of data capturing activities by private and public institutions in the country.

A landlord discovered $1 million left underneath mattress in an apartment forgotten by a tenant




Owner Ma Guangdi was preparing to advertise for a new tenant for the apartment in Dongguan, China, and was in the process of cleaning up when he discovered the cash. When the bed and mattress in the main bedroom were moved, four large packages tightly wrapped in tape were revealed. Opening one of the packages, Mr Ma discovered bundles of notes in various denominations, from 5 to 50 yuan. He decided to notify police, who seized the cash on suspicion it was gained by illegal means.

Aviation Minister Admits She Bought Two BMW Cars That Cost $1.6 Million



Nigeria’s Aviation Minister Stella Oduah has admitted that she used the funds of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to buy two BMW armored cars for her personal use, according to an official ministry response published by The Punch, Nigeria’s leading newspaper.

The paper’s report is carried in its October 17, 2013 edition and titled, “Ministry confirms purchase of N255m vehicles for Oduah”. The story, reported for Punch by Udeme Ekwere, stated, “The Ministry of Aviation has confirmed that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority bought two bulletproof vehicles worth $1.6m (N255m) for the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah.

A high court sitting in Port Harcourt this morning October 17th granted bail to four from the twelve persons facing trail in the murder case of the four Uniport students. The four are: Omoikiri Aluu monarch: Alhaji Welewa, Okoghiroh Endurance, Ozioma Abajuo and Chigozie Evans Samuel.

California prisons isolate inmates in a solitary confinement cell for 40 years



Some inmates in California have spent up to 42 years isolated in a solitary confinement cell, new reports have revealed.

“The Californian legislative assembly is looking into massive violations of prisoners’ rights in the state jails,” a Russian human rights ombudsman has tweeted.
“Californian prisoners are often locked up in solitary cells for misbehavior, for example after refusing to snitch on their cell mates. Prison records say some of them spent 30 to 42 years shut away alone!”

"Gaddafi supporters are tortured in Libyan jails" – tribe union’s spokesman



A delegation of Libyan tribes is visiting Moscow. Bassem al-Hashemi Sol, the press secretary of a Libyan tribal association, spoke about the aims of the visit and the current situation in Libya in an exclusive interview with the Voice of Russia.

"The aim of our visit is to give the Russian side the true picture of what is happening in Libya. In other words, we came to Russia to seek media support because the situation in Libya is heavily distorted in world media.
