Obi playing The Game of politics with Nigeria’s unity —APC

The All Progressives Congress says the “sensationalisation” of the recent “home return” of 14 persons from Lagos State by Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State can threaten the nation’s unity.

Obi playing politics with Nigeria’s unity —APC

The party, in a statement on Sunday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, said Obi’s action was dangerous.
The APC said instead of reaching out to his Lagos State counterpart, as he had done on less important issues in the past, Obi wrote an “over-dramatised letter” to the Presidency and leaked it to the media.
According to the party, Obi, by his action, has set off an avoidable friction between the Igbo and the Yoruba.
The APC added that Obi by the approach, wanted to gain an undue advantage ahead of the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
The APC stated, “We are not saying Governor  Obi has no right to play politics, but he must fight clean and avoid any action that could hurt, not just the enduring harmony between the Igbo and the Yoruba, but also the unity of the country.
“Resorting to primordial sentiments, anytime election is approaching, is Governor Obi’s modus operandi. He did it just before the 2009 election, when he labelled the ACN, under which Dr. Chris Ngige contested, as a Yoruba party, and he is going down the same path now. This is all about the November 2013 election.

Presidency, APC in Serious war of words

The Presidency on Sunday blasted APC leaders saying that these were not just unprogressive but also describing  them as “politically expired” politicians. However, the APC reacted swiftly, saying Nigerians knew perfectly that  most of the PDP leaders were septuagenarians and octogenarians.

APC national leaders – Chief Bisi Akande  is 74 years, Maj.-Gen. Muhamadu Buhari,70;  Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, 61  and Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, 61. It  added in a statement in Abuja, that  it would be foolhardy for anyone to think that the  APC would be an alternative to the PDP.

Convention: Atiku Protests Exclusion

As politicians begin  subtle battles ahead of 2015 elections, a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has complained that he is being sidelined by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Already, he said his name was not on the delegates lists from Adamawa State chapter of the party for the August 31 Special National Convention.  The party will use the convention to elect some of its national officers, who resigned recently due to irregularities in the last election that brought them to office.

Atiku is also protesting against his not being invited for the party’s National Executive Committee and Board of Trustees meetings, which he said should not be so “since he is a statutory delegate as a former Vice President.”

Now That Mega Party APC Gets INEC Approval - What Next ?? (By Dele Momodu)

Fellow Nigerians, let me start by congratulating the leaders and members of the newly registered political party, All Progressives Congress (APC) of Nigeria, on their well-deserved victory.

Mega Party APC Approved By INEC - What Next ?

. You will agree with me that it was never a smooth ride for them, and they were forced to fight like wounded lions, every step of the way, against all manner of forces that attempted to frustrate their efforts and derail their mission.
But APC should not be over-confident. What binds PDP together is very strong, access to power and money, a surfeit of it for that matter.

Destitiute Randomly picked up at Marina Lagos this morning

People observed this vehicle picking up destitute at Marina Lagos around 6:30 this morning. Office of youth and social development was written on the KIA Motors truck that carried away the homeless people seen loitering and sleeping in the area. Wonder where they're taking these ones too since Gov Peter Obi of Anambra is quarreling with Gov Fashola for allegedly dumping over seventy homeless people in Onitsha last week.

Governor Fashola has since said only 14 destitute were repatriated from the state and not the 70 people widely reported. The governor said the homeless people said they certainly were from Anambra state and needed assistance to return home, so they took them to Onitsha.

APGA suspends Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) yesterday suspended Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State after accusing him of being involved in anti-party activities. The party voted to remove Okorocha at an emergency National Executive Council meeting which held in Abuja yesterday afternoon following Okorocha's recent dissolution of his cabinet and alleged membership of the opposition coalition, All Progressives Congress (APC).

APGA is accusing him of dissolving his cabinet so he could include more members of the newly registered political party, APC, in his government.
“The NEC unanimously resolved to suspend, with immediate effect, the Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okoroacha, from the party for gross anti-party activities, bordering on his involvement with the All Progressives Congress contrary to the clear provisions of the APGA constitution." The National Vice-Chairman of APGA (South-West), Tayo Sowunm said yesterday.
