Ebola Control: NYSC Suspends Orientation In 6 States



The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the suspension of scheduled stream two orientation programme of the 2014 Batch ‘B’ Orientation in six states billed to start on Monday, September 1st due to the dreaded Ebola disease in the country.  Brig Gen Johnson Olawumi, the Director General of the NYSC, who announced the decision in Kubwa Orientation Camp in the Federal Capital Territory, said the corps members deployed to Adamawa, Bauchi, Jigawa, Borno, Gombe, and Yobe States will be affected by the directive.

President Jonathan Suspends CBN Governor Sanusi




President Goodluck Jonathan today ordered the suspension of Nigeria's Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, weeks after the CBN Governor exposed the theft of at least $20 billion by officials of  Nigerian petroleum ministry.


 A press release issued by the spokesperson to the President, Reuben Abati explained that the CBN governor was suspended because of reports by the Financial Reporting Council claiming the CBN governor had engaged in "financial recklessness and misconduct". The release did not specifically name any particular financial crime but goes ahead to announce a replacement for Mr. Sanusi.

PDP suspends Oyinlola, Baraje, Jaja, Kazaure




ABUJA- CRISIS rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Monday got messier as the National leadership of the Party wielded its big stick and suspended the  former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola who was on Wednesday last week re-instated as National Secretary of the party through a  judgment by an Appeal Court sitting in Abuja.

Kabo Airlines suspends pilot that nearly crash land Airplane last week



This was disclosed in Abuja, Tuesday, by the Director-General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Fola Akinkuotu during an interactive session with news men. It could be recalled that the Kabo plane was conveying 512 passengers from Kano Airport , en route Saudi Arabia when it'd to accomplish a crisis landing at the Sokoto Airport. Following the plane landed, it had been found that its tyres were deflated and it damaged some parts of the instrument landing system at the airport. The pilot also did not comply with the directive given by air traffic controller on duty that the plane should land on runway 08 , but alternatively diverted to some other runway. The passengers who were on pilgrimage to Mecca were safely evacuated and subsequently transferred to some other aircraft which took them to their destination.

APGA suspends Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State



The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) yesterday suspended Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State after accusing him of being involved in anti-party activities. The party voted to remove Okorocha at an emergency National Executive Council meeting which held in Abuja yesterday afternoon following Okorocha's recent dissolution of his cabinet and alleged membership of the opposition coalition, All Progressives Congress (APC).

APGA is accusing him of dissolving his cabinet so he could include more members of the newly registered political party, APC, in his government.  
“The NEC unanimously resolved to suspend, with immediate effect, the Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okoroacha, from the party for gross anti-party activities, bordering on his involvement with the All Progressives Congress contrary to the clear provisions of the APGA constitution." The National Vice-Chairman of APGA (South-West), Tayo Sowunm said yesterday.

Just In: Rivers PDP Gives Amaechi 48hours To Explain His Plane Controversy, Suspends 27 Assembly Members





The crisis rocking the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new twist as the party on Monday, suspended 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The party’s leadership also announced that it has given the state Governor; Rotimi Amaechi, 48 hours to “explain to Rivers people why the jet bought with the state government money is bearing a bank’s name on the documents.”

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Sunday  grounded the plane of River State governor for the expiration of its operating license while the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) claimed that the plane belongs to the Bank of Salt Lake City USA and was brought into the country on chatter by Carverton Helicopters.

WASSCE: Osun Suspends Principal, Teachers For Smuggling Names



Osun state government has suspended the Principal of Community High School, Eripa, Mr. T. A. Afolabi, along with some teachers for allegedly the names of six candidates into the school’s Senior Secondary School certificate examination list.
A news item monitored on Osun State Broadcasting Corporation by our correspondent, on Wednesday, revealed that the authorities were caught unawares by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titi Laore-Tomori, who paid an unscheduled visit to the school.
Laoye-Tomori, who ordered the suspension of the teachers, said the candidates were not officially registered for the certificate examination.

Hunger Strike: Ex-banker Suspends Indefinite Action As Fashola Wades In






LAGOS—Barely two weeks after embarking on an indefinite hunger strike to protest non-payment of his terminal benefit,  Mr. Olubiyi Odunaro, a 53-year-old former employee of Hallmark Bank Plc., yesterday, suspended his hunger strike. Odunaro, had commenced the indefinite hunger strike on November 12 this year in protest against the non-payment of his terminal benefit as well as that of over 14,000 of his colleagues who were also affected.
