28-Year-Old Son Rapes Mum As Dad Enjoys His Sleep




A 28-year-old man appeared in the court for allegedly raping his mother. It is alleged that the suspect raped his mother who was sleeping in the family's sitting room on Thursday night at around 10pm.
"The victim was sleeping in the sitting room while her husband was enjoying his sleep in their bedroom. It is reported that the victim only noticed that it was her son who violated her, when he went out of the house through the window," said Acornhoek Police spokesperson Lieutenant Mpho Koli.

Koli said the suspect was remanded in investigations continue.

A middle aged man has been arraigned in court facing multiple charges of indecently touching a nine year old girl’s private parts, repeatedly defiling her, infecting her with HIV and destroying her reproductive organs after luring the girl with Sh. 5 coin.
The Shanzu court, in Kenya, heard that on January 1st 2013 Sori Abdub Ganya lured the nine year old girl to unknown hideout in Mtwapa area where he severely defiled her.

Exactly a year today, 27-year-old Ademola Abe strolled to a newsstand few metres to his house at Yaya Abatan, Lagos to read newspapers, but never came back home alive. 
The young man was allegedly shot dead by the then Divisional Police Officer of Pen Cinema, Lagos, Segun Fabunmi, on January 9, 2012 during the protest against fuel subsidy removal. On Tuesday when our correspondent visited Yaya Abatan, the junction where Ademola was shot dead, a bust erected in his memory at the spot reminds passersby of a life lost prematurely.

Group threatens to sue MTN For Poor Services





The South-South Youth Leaders’ Forum said it had concluded plans to sue a telecoms firm, MTN Nigeria, for continued poor services being rendered to the citizens.  
The group explained that it would not remain silent and watch MTN deliver substandard telecoms services to the South-South people and Nigerians in general. Speaking with journalists on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, the Chairman of the forum, Mr. Odiedim Amachree, said that the service provider was operating dual standards.

21-Year-Old Student Dumps New Born In Pit Latrine




Residents of Manchok in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday recovered a baby from a pit latrine where its mother had dumped it. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the residents, who were attracted by the cry of the baby, had to break the latrine to remove the baby girl allegedly delivered by a 21-year-old student. The suspected mother, an unmarried secondary school student, allegedly induced the delivery of her seven-month-old pregnancy and threw it away. The suspect, however, ran out of luck when one Miss Rifkatu John, who runs a beer parlour, went to use the latrine and heard the cry of the baby.

FG, states, LGs shared N6.16tn in 2012 – Report





A whopping sum of N6.16tn was withdrawn from the Federation Account and shared among the three tiers of government in the 2012 financial year, investigations have revealed. The figure is the total amount allocated under various distribution sub-heads, as approved by the legal framework upon which the account is being managed.
They are statutory allocation, which is shared in the following manner: Federal Government, 52.68 per cent; states, 26.72 per cent; and local governments 20.60 per cent; Value Added Tax (Federal Government, 15 per cent; states, 50 per cent; and LGs, 35 per cent); and extra allocation given to oil producing states based on the 13 per cent principle of derivation.

Nigeria owes China $6.2bn – Investigation





With over $6.2bn credit facilities to Nigeria, the People’s Republic of China has emerged as the country’s highest creditor, investigations have shown. 
Although the Debt Management Office listed on its website the nation’s total external debt as at September 30, 2012 as $6.29bn, investigations showed that the country’s indebtedness to China alone stood at over $6.2bn.

Acid bath suspect re-arraigned for murder




David Sulaimon, who allegedly bathed his fiancée, Chika Egbo, with acid in Ikotun, Lagos on November 5, 2012 has been re-arraigned for murder. This followed the death of 22-year-old Chika on December 20 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos. The amended charge reads in part, “That you, Sulaimon, on November 5 at Bakare Street, Ikotun, Lagos, killed Chika Egbo by bathing her with liquid substance suspected to be acid and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos 2011.”

Ritualists mutilate body of 3-yr-old girl in Ilorin




The sight of the mutilated body of a three-year-old girl,  Aliya Usman, killed by suspected  ritualists, yesterday, threw residents of Ile Onigboro, Ita Elefun, Ita Ogunbo, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, into deep mourning.
The bereaved family had earlier lost the immediate younger brother of the deceased to a strange illness about 10 months ago, making the death more pathetic.
  
When Vanguard visited the scene, the severed head of the victim was spotted at a refuse dump covered with a polythene bag while the remains of her badly mutilated body was deposited at a newly constructed soak-away pit.

Recapitalisation hurdle threatens Savannah Bank’s reopening




The failure of the core investors in Savannah Bank of Nigeria Plc to fully recapitalise the bank to the N25bn minimum share capital requirement is a major reason for its inability to reopen for business, more than three years after its operating licence was returned via a court order, investigations by our correspondent have revealed.The Central Bank of Nigeria had closed down SBN in 2002, citing infringements and non-compliance with banking laws by the management of the bank as reasons for its action.

An Australian woman was awoken by her hissing cat early Sunday to find a python wrapped around the arm of her 2-year-old daughter. Tess Guthrie, a 22-year-old from Lismore, New South Wales, said the 6-foot pytho was wrapped three times around her daughter’s arm. “I thought I was having a nightmare,” Guthrie told a local television news station. “It was only because the cat was hissing that I woke up and saw the snake with its body wrapped around my daughter Zara’s arm.”

Lagos light rail’ll be ready in June – Babatunde Fashola





The Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola on Tuesday said the first phase of the state Blue Light Rail project would be completed by June this year(2013). 
He expressed confidence that Lagosians would start enjoying the services of the lrail project immediately.  The first phase would run from Marina and terminated at Okokomaiko area in Ojo Local Government. Fashola spoke during an inspection of ongoing projects in the state which took him and his cabinet members to Orile-Iganmu, Alimosho and Ejigbo areas among others to assess the level of works being done by contractors.

Jonathan Attacks Obasanjo Again, Calls Him Confused And Unstable




President Goodluck Jonathan has again lashed out at ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as a confused man unstable in his views regarding government’s handing of the protracted Boko Haram insurgency.Mr. Jonathan, who spoke through his spokesperson, Reuben Abati, was reacting to Mr.  Obasanjo’s comment in a CNN  interview that the president had been deploying excessive force and exploring little or no dialogue in solving the Boko Haram problem.

Three injured in Lagos, Ogun accidents





Three persons sustained varying degree of injuries in separate auto accidents that occurred between Monday night and Tuesday in Ibafo area of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State and Maryland, Lagos respectively. 
In the accident that occurred on Tuesday at the Maryland end of Ikorodu Road, an official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and an unidentified person were injured after four vehicles were involved in an accident.

Catholic Priest, Teacher Face Trial For Raping 10-Year-Old Alter Boy




Jury selection began Monday in the trial of a Roman Catholic priest and a former Catholic school teacher charged with sexually assaulting a former altar boy.
Four jurors were chosen on the first day of jury selection in the case against the Rev. Charles Engelhardt and Bernard Shero. The case had been spun off from last year's high-profile trial of a church official charged with helping the Philadelphia Archdiocese cover up abuse complaints. Engelhardt, 65, and Shero, 49, have pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting the boy in the late 1990s.

Student Finds 'Wrinkled Brain' Inside KFC Chicken (Photo)
