95 Underaged Girls Raped - Police Officer And Lecturer Indicted
No fewer than 95 child rape cases have been reported in five northern states. Gombe tops the states with 50 cases, according to the Child Protection Network (CPN). Kano follows with 22, Bauchi - 11, Plateau - 8 and Nasarawa - 4. The body did not indicate the period within which the incidents happened.

Chinese scientific research ship Dayang Yihao, or Ocean One, has returned to east China harbour, almost four months after it completed a nine-day exploration of Nigeria’s waters with Nigerian and Chinese scientists. The research team, with 15 Nigerians and 66 Chinese crew conducted research mainly on the western part of Nigerian waters, Captain Cao Yezheng. Back in China, the team has flaunted some of the things found under Nigeria’s water.

The police command in Kogi state have arrested a middle aged man, Mr Hosea Folorunsho in Egbe town of Yagba West local government council for the alleged gruesome murder of his son for ritual purpose. Briefing journalists on the arrest in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Katsina says the suspect, a herbalist, also buried the child in a shallow grave in his own compound.

Identical Twins arrested after fighting over who'd have sex with shared GF
Two Manchester, Conn., twins figured it isn’t enough for them to share the same genes; they have to share the same girlfriend, too. But the arrangement got violent on New Year’s Eve, according to the Hartford Courant reports. Aric Ryan Hale and Sean Peter Hale, both 28, were arrested after fighting over who would have sex with their shared 27-year-old girlfriend. The woman is reportedly in an open relationship with the twins and is sexually intimate with both of them “depending on who she chooses to be with that particular day,” police spokesman Capt. Christopher Davis said.

Justice Delayed: Aluu 4 Gone but not forgotten
It's exactly three months four UNIPORT students -Tekena, Ugonna, Chiadika, and Ilyod were brutally murdered in the Aluu community. 16 people have so far been arrested for their murder. The suspects appeared in court on Thursday December 20th but the trial was stalled due to the failure of prison officials to produce them in court. The case was then adjourned till February 28, 2013. Hope this time the prisonofficials won't forget to bring them to court.
These young men had their whole lives ahead of them and didn't deserve to die the way they did. Hope they get justice. We are watching!

Jamiu Adetutu, aka Jarmani, has been arrested by men of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos for allegedly assaulting an Ikorodu, Lagos resident named Nurain Lani. Before his arrest, Jarmani was allegedly notorious for molesting residents of Ilemere, Orupodi, Ibeshe and other parts of Ikorodu in company with a gang of hoodlums. His latest victim, Lani, who is a trader, was said to have dared to confront him over allegations that he had turned a thorn in the flesh of residents. Lani said he only asked Jarmani to stop molesting the residents of Ilemere, Orupodi and Ibeche communities. And for his ‘effrontery’ he got the beating of his life from the thug and his gang of hoodlums.

We won’t sanction President Jonathan – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party has said it will not sanction President Goodluck Jonathan over the printing and pasting of posters announcing his ambition to seek re-election in 2015. The party said it was satisfied that the President had denied responsibility for the printing and pasting of the posters.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Friday, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, warned members of the party not to see the development as an opportunity to engage in the printing and pasting of posters of other presidential aspirants.

Police Inspector Arrested For Alleged Murder
A police officer assigned to the Bariga Police Division in Lagos is in the soup for allegedly killing a youth named Banji Lawunmi. CRIME DIGEST gathered that Inspector Smart Osadolor was recently arrested by his colleagues for shooting Lawunmi during a fight between two rival groups on Iyeleke Street in the Bariga area.

Why generals are reluctant to leave army – Investigation
The recent retirement of 51 top officers of the Nigerian Army has caused a raging controversy as those affected have indicated their reluctance to pull out of the service. The affected officers had written to the Army Council to appeal for service extension but their appeals were turned down by the council.
Some of the affected officers had written to the council to appeal for extension in order to use the extra period to build their own houses. But the Army Council turned down the requests for lack of strong reasons and on the grounds that granting them would be destructive to established norms in the army.

Air fares may crash by 33% as Dana, others Return
Indications have emerged that soaring domestic air fares may soon crash by 33 per cent from the present average of N30,000 per hour flight to N20,000 following the return of some local airlines to business. Dana Air, which stopped operations seven months ago after the tragic crash of June 3, 2012, resumed operations on Friday with fare as low as N14,400 for a Lagos-Abuja flight. The airline offered N11,000 fare for passengers who booked online.

Man In Court For Pouring Hot smelly Sh*T On Police Officers
A 22-year-old man, Olumide Ajayi, has been docked at a Somolu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly pouring faeces on five policemen and attempting to escape from custody. Ajayi, who lives at No. 17, Ikorodu Road, is facing a three-count charge of assault and malicious damage. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

FG launches offensive against new terror sect, Jambs
The Federal Government has launched an offensive against a little known terror group, Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina fi Biladis Sudan, which roughly translates as Vanguards for the Aid of Muslims in Black Africa.
Saturday PUNCH’s investigations showed that security agents had intensified their investigation of the brains behind the new group.
It was learnt that security agents were banking on detained members of Boko Haram and JAMBS to unmask the people behind the new sect.

Youth wing of the Peoples Democratic Party has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to resign if he is bereft of ideas instead of denying sponsorship of posters for his second term, which surfaced in Abuja on New Year’s day.The group, in an electronic mail on Thursday, said since the the President assumed office, he had not shown any competence to solve the several problems bedevilling the nation.
The statement was signed by its Publicity Director, Comrade Bala Usman, and its National Director, Mr. Fidelis Uzoka. Jonathan’s 2015 posters were seen in several places including the Peoples Democratic Party headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

Police rearrest pastor for raping 12-year-old
The Lagos State Police Command has rearrested a 40-year-old pastor, Alasco Sobowale, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in Epe area of the state. Police authorities said the suspect, who is a pastor at Okiki Imole Church, Epe, was rearrested on Thursday at his home located at 10, Togodo Street, Temu Town.
The police had arrested Sobowale on December 21, 2012, for allegedly raping the minor but was later released on bail because courts were not in session.
