Fat Joe Faces 2 Years Jail Term For Tax Evasion




American rapper Fat Joe appeared in a New Jersey courtroom yesterday (Dec. 20) and pleaded guilty to tax evasion. Records show that Joe, real name Joseph Cartagena owes about $700,000 for unpaid taxes dating back to 2007 and 2008. Fat Joe has had a couple of legal issues in the past. On September 8, 1998, Fat Joe and Big Pun were arrested on assault charges for hitting a man with a baseball bat and stealing the man’s gold chain on June 14 that year. 

Vírginity test: SCID takes over principal’s investigation



Police investigation into the alleged conduct of vírginity tests on pupils of  Ajuwon Senior High School, Ajuwon, Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, by the school principal, Rev. Olufunke Aladeojobi, will no longer be handled by the Ajuwon Police Division. The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

NAFDAC Office On Fire









A mysterious fire, Friday, gutted the National Agency for Food Administration and Control, NAFDAC, warehouse located at its Oshodi laboratory office in Lagos.
According to an eyewitness, the fire which started about 7:45pm, Friday.However, security officials refused journalists entrance to the premises but eyewitness say no life was lost in the inferno.Fire fighters arrived the scene at about 8:45pm. The warehouse houses seized fake and unwholesome food, drug and pharmaceutical products.

Prison Break Leads To 22 Deaths




A prison break in Mexico left 22 dead, after a shootout erupted between inmates and prison guards.The 22 dead in the prison break included nine guards and 13 inmates, according to police in the state of Durango in Mexico. The attempted escape happened Tuesday night, at a prison near Gomez Palacio, near some of the areas hit hardest by the ongoing drug violence south of the border.The 22 dead in the prison break was a higher number than original estimates. This is one of several high-profile prison breaks in Mexico in the last year, including an incident in which 140 prisoners walked out of the front door of a jail in Coahuila, near the US border.

Worrisome: Children Horrified As They Encounter A Talking Tree




Panic has gripped villagers in Mazvihwa area in Zvishavane, Zimbabwe after children who were herding cattle reportedly stumbled upon a talking tree stump. The incident, which has left tongues wagging, occurred on Thursday in Gwemombe Langani Village under Chief Mazvihwa. The stump is said to be only talking to children and women. According to a witness the “talking stump” was first discovered by some boys who were playing soccer while herding cattle.

One Year-Old Child Dies After Being Given ‘Anointed Oil’ By Prophet





Self styled prophet and prophetess who allegedly caused the death of a one-year-old baby after giving him a harmful concoction have been freed on $30 bail each. Prophet Mutsvene Makaya (36) and his wife Prophetess Ndakaziva Mawire (39), on Tuesday appeared before magistrate Anita Tshuma facing culpable homicide charges. According to State Papers, the self styled Prophet Makaya and his wife Prophetess Mawire are married.

Nkiru Sylvanu Update:Family Paid N8 million to kidnappers for her release





The police in Owerri, the Imo state capital told reporters during a press briefing yesterday that Nkiru Sylvanus' family paid N8 million to the kidnappers before she was released on Thursday night.
The Commissioner of Police, Adisa Bolanta, said the family did this without the knowledge of the police. He said they had warned the family not to negotiate or deal directly with the kidnappers but they defied their orders "They defied our warnings and continued negotiations with the kidnappers. They went behind us and paid N8 million to them. We have made some arrests in connection with the case and very soon they will all be apprehended." He said

Ogun Women Go Nakéd To Protest Against Hoodlums




Last Saturday, there was a drama at Sonde Apon, a rural community in Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, as elder women staged a protest over the invasion of their community by hoodlums who are suspected to have been sent by land speculators from a nearby community. The invaders, numbering 20, were said to have stormed the community and unleashed terror on the residents.

The 13 people arrested for the October 5th murder of four students of the University of Port Harcourt were meant to appear in court yesterday Thursday December 20th but the trial was stalled due to the failure of prison officials to produce them in court. At the resumed hearing yesterday morning, the prosecutor told the court that the accused persons were in the court cell, but could not be brought in because of shortage of prison personnel. Yes, they actually said that! Shortage of prison personnel? Does that even make sense? The prosecutor also said he was yet to receive any advice on the matter from the Director of Public prosecution to whom the case file was referred.

French man kidnap: Possibly an inside job – Katsina CP




KANO (AFP) – Police said Friday that a French citizen kidnapped in the north may have been taken by employees of his company after France’s president suggested Al-Qaeda was involved.An engineer with the French firm Vergnet was abducted late Wednesday by a group of 30 gunmen in Katsina state who stormed and opened fire on the residence where he was staying. Two Nigerians died in the attack.

INEC Deregisters Three More Political Parties



Despite the controversies surrounding the deregistration of 28 political parties in Nigeria by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday deregistered three more parties.
In a press statement signed by the Secretary of the commission, Abdullahi Kaugama, INEC said it drew its power from the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the Electoral Act, 2010 (As amended).
