Lagosians Troop Out In Large Numbers To Give Super Eagles Rousing Welcome



Lagos residents on Friday gave the Super Eagles a rousing welcome as they arrived at the Domestic Terminal 1 of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, popularly known as the General Aviation Terminal.
The Super Eagles on Feb. 10 at the South Africa National Stadium defeated the Stallions of Burkina Faso 1-0 at the finals of the 29th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Eagles were in Lagos at the invitation of the Lagos State Government to be honoured for emerging victorious at the competition.

2013 Range Rover Sold Out For The Next Six Months



Range Rover announced that their latest model, the N13 Million-and-up 2013 Range Rover is sold out for the next six months to a year in the United States, the automakers biggest market. Despite shortages of the luxury SUV, Automotive News reports that Land Rover expects 2013 sales will outnumber 2012's 43,664-unit total.

Buyers can order one now - but even celebrities will have to wait until next year to sit behind the wheel.According to Range Rover, the United States is their biggest market and New York is the biggest single city in the world for sales. (It must be because of all those steep hills and muddy streams in Manhattan.) But only the early birds will be able to run the new model to the farmer’s market.

PFN Gets New President As Oritsejafor Bows Out After 3 Years



The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has a new president. He is Rev. Felix Omobude.
Omobude’s was announced as the successor to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), on Friday at the end of the PFN’s 12th National Biennial Conference held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
Oritsejafor, who held the position for three years, appealed to members of the pentecostal body to give Omobude the maximum support to enable him succeed to  “shepherd the flock’’.
The outgoing PFN president urged the church leaders to expunge corruption from the church to keep the church pure.
Prior to his elevation, Omobude was the General Superintendent of New Covenant Church in Benin City, Edo.

Pastor Pulls Out Gun On Church Accountant In Benue



The Benue State Police Command, yesterday, arrested the pastor of a new generation church in Katsina-Ala (names withheld) for illegal possession of fire arms and assault on the church’s accountant.
Vanguard gathered from sources that the pastor was apprehended with the firearm by men of the Benue State Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, in Katsina-Ala where he allegedly tried to kill the accountant of the church, Mr. Philip Toryila, during a serious disagreement over money.

NBC Denies Banning Music Videos After P'Square Lashes Out



The Nigerian Broadcast Commission, NBC, and National Films and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, on Monday denied banning the broadcast of some musical videos by Nigerian artistes.
Mrs Maimuna Jimada, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Commission, disclosed in Abuja that the commission was not aware of the ban.
According to her, NBC was not in charge of banning musical videos. “NBC has not banned any videos as we are not in-charge of placing a ban on music videos.”

Man Plucks Out Wife’s Eye With Broomstick



A 28-year-old man has been brought before the court here for gouging out his wife’s eye with a broomstick during a domestic dispute while accusing her of infidelity.
The accused, Leonard Kadowonda, a Zimbabwean teacher was sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment wholly suspended for five years after the complainant filed an affidavit to withdraw the case against him.
The court heard that on June 7 last year the complainant, Babra Samkange (21), was walking home from a nearby primary school in the company of her male friend when her husband spotted her. On arriving home, she was confronted by the husband.

Boko Haram Will Fade Out Gradually – Omeri




Nigerians have been told by the Director General of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mr. Mike Omeri, that the current spate of violence in the country was built up over time and as such, will take an equally gradual process to imbibe a total culture of peace and stability. Omeri who said this at a forum to mark his one year in office, added that the efforts being made across the states by the agency will not be in vain as many Nigerians are hungry for peace.He however called for greater efforts from Nigerians across board to sustain and promote different campaigns especially at the grassroot level, on taking the right actions to eliminate corruption and promote peaceful growth and development.

24-Year-Old Man Sneaks Out Of Bedroom, Rapés 2-Year-Old Niece





Police have arrested a 24-year-old man who allegedly failed to control his séxual appetite and rapéd his two-year-old niece.The man, whose name is withheld to protect the identity of the child, is in custody assisting police with investigations. Acting police spokesperson for Midlands, Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, said the incident occurred last Wednesday at around 5 am at Thornhill Airbase in Gweru.
The suspect is the brother to the toddler's 36-year-old mother, whose name is also being withheld in the interest of the toddler.

15 Killed In Nigeria Shoot-Out With Radical Sect





MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) — A shootout in northeastern Nigeria between security forces and members of a radical Islamist sect killed at least 15 people, including a local police chief, authorities said on Tuesday.
The shootings took place in the city of Potiskum, which has increasingly become the scene of violent attacks by the sect known as Boko Haram. Army spokesman Lt. Eli Lazarus said the attack began late Sunday night in the city and went on for hours after suspected sect members bombed a local police station and attacked a bank branch.

Man released from prison for killing daughter gets out and kills another daughter (PHOTO)





A man was arrested in 1995 for killing his own daughter. Daron Duane Davis spent 11 years in prison, got out and was recently arrested again for killing his second daughter. In this case, the man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for parole.  Sondaria Davis died before her first birthday after being beaten to death by her father. That’s when Davis was sentenced to 20 years in prison, serving 11 of them. His girlfriend, Sondraria’s mother, was also sentenced to probation for her role in the abuse. Davis was a free man after 2006, but obviously not reformed.
