U17 World Football Eaglet, Kelechi's Father Wants 1 Million Euros For His Child



 Claims and counter claims by various agents have dogged the MVP of the U17 World Cup Kelechi Iheanacho, who is valued at a million Euros.  Iheanacho was the star of the 2013 World Cup in the UAE, scoring six goals and creating several more goals as Nigeria clinched a record fourth title in fine style.

MTNFootball.com learnt that Iheanacho’s father has now asked the rash of clubs and agents after the exciting striker to cough up a million Euros (more than 200 million Naira) or look elsewhere.

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old vulcaniser, Ademola Simiyu, of Ile Olode in Ikoyi for allegedly defiling his 11-year-old daughter.  Simiyu, a father of three, allegedly committed the act on Wednesday, October 23, when he woke up his girl at about 12 midnight while she was sleeping with her siblings and forcefully had carnal knowledge with her.

A 15 year boy, Asuquo Edet from  Akwa Ibom State - last week tortured for more than 4 hours before finally axed on the top to a state of coma by assailants numbering about ten over allegation of using witchcraft power to kill his father.   Narrating his ordeal in the hands from those he called ‘local cultists' to newsmen, Asuquo, who hails from Ikon- Edikor, Udung Uko Local Government Area, said he was reconciled along with his parents few months ago by an Eket based non-profit organization, the Child's Right and Rehabilitation Network (CRARN) that runs a centre for witch stigmatized children, having lived there for over a year.

Taraba state: New Speaker Elected To Replace Tsokwa




After the unexpected death of Haruna Tsokwa on Nobermber 4, Taraba state House of Assembly has elected a new Speaker.  The Assembly this morning elected Josiah Kente as new Speaker. He will replace Haruna Tsokwa, who died after a brief illness on November 4. Details of Mr. Kente’s election are, however, quite vague.

Lecturers at the University of Jos have voted for continuation of the on-going strike by the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) in the country. Chairman of the chapter, Dr. David Jankam who made this known on Monday while speaking with THE NATION shortly after the congress of the chapter said members did not see any substance in the dialogue with the federal government to warrant calling off the strike.

ASUU Strike Called Off! Students To Resume On Nov. 18



A source close to top guns in the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) has revealed that lecturers will ditch their four month old strike this weekend so students could resume on November 18 (next Monday).

Indian Deadly attack: FG summons envoy, threatens retaliation,demands apology.



 Federal Government has demanded an unreserved apology from the Indian authorities over the death of a Nigerian, Obodo Simeon and discriminatory attacks on Nigerians afterwards.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, said this while answering questions from journalists at the Pre-Commonwealth Head of Government Meeting press briefing in Abuja on Monday.

Tensions between Nigerians and Indians have escalated since Simeon was found dead in Goa, a popular tourist destination in the country’s west. Simeon, according to reports, was stabbed to death on October 31 in Panaji, Goa state’s capital.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old robber, Prince Nwafor, with a visual recording of a robbery operation that he took part in. According to police authorities, the suspect is part of a robbery gang that specialises in snatching vehicles in Lagos and selling them at low prices.  The gang was also alleged to have robbed in Ebonyi and Anambra states.
