I Won’t Tolerate Killings Of Security Agents Again - President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday warned that his administration would no longer tolerate a situation where security operatives are killed at will in any part of the country.

 He also vowed not to withdraw soldiers attached to the Joint Task Force deployed in troubled parts of the country until normalcy returns to the affected areas.

 

Jonathan spoke at a town hall meeting  in Maiduguri as he concluded his working visit to Borno State which has remained in the centre of activities of members of the fundamental Islamic sect, Boko Haram, that have been responsible for bombing campaigns in the northern part of the country.

Nigeria's U20 team, the Flying Eagles, on Saturday lost their second successive game as they were beaten 2-1 by Tunisian club, Esperance, in a friendly match on Saturday.

The Flying Eagles controlled the first half against the two-time African champions, who lined up a very strong starting XI that included new signings, Emmanuel Clottey from Becham Chelsea of Ghana; and Nigerian-born winger, Emeka Emerum; as well as Tunisia internationals, Houcine Ragued and Wajdi Bouazzi.

The Flying Eagles created the best chances in a goalless first half and will again have to blame their finishing for not going ahead in the friendly match.

It’s been 10 years since Mrs. Florence Dickson last saw her son, Felix. However, the memory seems like yesterday.

“It feels as if I saw him yesterday. Ten years seem like just a day to me,” she said.

Dickson, who found it hard to express her pain in words, said her only desire was to see her son again. Felix was 34 years old when he was declared missing.

Ezu River: Corpses To Be Exhumed Again

The 25 unidentified corpse which were found floating on Ezu river in Awka, Anambra State, may again be exhumed for the second time, following revelations that the police did not give approval for their burial.

Apart from the non-approval by the police, the corpses were hurriedly buried at the bank of the river which is the only source of water for the community.

These were the feelers from the Senate Committee on Police Affairs and Security and Intelligence which visited Ezu river in Amansea, Awka north local government area of the state yesterday.The committees discovered that the corpses were not properly buried and that they could be washed back into the river any time it overflows its bank.

Anthony Obinna, the aides of Governors Peter Obi of Anambra State and Chief Rochas Okorocha of Imo State would have clashed over sitting arrangements on Sunday. President Goodluck Jonathan has again lashed out at ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as a confused man unstable in his views regarding government’s handing of the protracted Boko Haram insurgency.Mr. Jonathan, who spoke through his spokesperson, Reuben Abati, was reacting to Mr.  Obasanjo’s comment in a CNN  interview that the president had been deploying excessive force and exploring little or no dialogue in solving the Boko Haram problem.
