Miss Mercy Okpithe joined the Dance Troupe on the Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State in November 2012. But four months later she was severely beaten up by the Camp Commandant.

Captain S.O. Beke attacked her about 11:00p.m on Monday, March 18, this year. She allegedly fainted and was rushed to the camp clinic. The following day, she was transferred to the Anambra State University Teaching Hospital, Awka. At the hospital, she was diagnosed with dislocation of coccyx, a small triangular bone at the base of the spinal column.

The hospital further referred her to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, for special attention. It was gathered that she might be flown abroad for surgery.

Obaifaiye a.k.a "My Oga At The Top" Shem still NSCDC Lagos State commandant

Contrary to reports making the rounds that Lagos State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Mr. Obafaiye Shem, has been dismissed following his 'Oga At The Top' debacle during a live interview on Channels TV almost two weeks ago, he says and Channels TV says the report is false.  
 Shem said he was not suspended or dismissed but has been on casual leave to bury his father and will resume work next Thursday. "I am still the State Commandant of NSCDC and I am determined to work hard to expose the vandals across the State.” His wife also never went to Channels TV office to protest.

The Lagos State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) Obafaiye Shem has said that the incidence of recruitment scam does not happen in his organisation.

Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Mr Shem said he was surprised when the NSCDC’s name was mentioned among government agencies where employment racketeering take place.
