Yobo: It wasn’t our day; Keshi: We didn’t play to lose

“We started very well. We were organised. We got a goal which would have given us more confidence but was disallowed.
Keshi: We didn’t play to lose
We were good individually. It will get better, we are still a young squad.”

Sitting arrangement adjusted at Confab, Ozekhome gets Boko Haram threat





MOVED by the issue of time frame,  delegates at the on- going National Conference yesterday adjusted its sittings to, among others, allow Muslim delegates observe the Ramadan fast just as Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN),  told the conference that he had gotten  a message that the Boko Harm sect  was threatening an “attack even bigger than Nyanya blast” .

Raw Gold Discovered in Osun State





OSOGBO—All is now set for the mining of the first gold in Ilesha, in the State of Osun as the Governor Rauf Aregbesola, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an Australian mining firm, Andalusian Mining Industry.

This came as the leader of the mining firm, Colin Miller, told the governor that his company would present the first raw gold to the people of the state before the end this year.

The signing ceremony took place at the Government House, Osogbo yesterday with a moderate ceremony with the governor in attendance.

Boko Haram: FFK lied, APC says; threatens legal action



”Our position on Boko Haram has been well articulated for anyone who cares to know.”
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has asked Femi Fani-Kayode to retract his comment alleging that the APC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, condemned the Federal Government for proscribing the terror group Boko Haram or face a legal action.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party said at no time did it issue a statement condemning the proscription of Boko Haram, and challenged Mr. Fani-Kayode to produce such a statement if he was so sure the APC issued it.

A terrorists’ intelligence cell headed by a businessman who participated actively in the abduction of School Girls in Chibok has been busted by troops.   The man, Babuji Ya’ari who is also a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as Civilian JTF which he uses as cover while remaining an active terrorist, also spearheaded the murder of the Emir of Gwoza.  His main role in the group is to spy and gather information for the terrorists group.
Babuji has been coordinating several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011, including the daring attacks on Customs and military locations as well as the planting of IEDs in several locations in the town.

During the weekend, former Zamfara State governor Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, who's planning to contest again as Governor of their state in 2015, shared bags of rice to his people for Ramadan, making certain to let them understand that he's contesting again.

Shinkafi was governor of Zamfara State in 2007 to 2011 and was Aisha Babaginda's second husband.

Choices before Emir of Kano




ALHAJIIsa Kaita (1912-1994) was the Northern Region Minister for works between 1954 and 1957, and later Minister of Education between 1957 and 1966. He later became the Waziri of Katsina. Alhaji Kaita was one of the few closest advisers of the late Northern Region Premier Sir Ahmadu Bello (1909-1966), the Sardauna of Sokoto.

In August 1963, Alhaji Kaita was dispatched to Lagos by his friend Sir Ahmadu Bello. The mission was to inform the then Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa(1912-1966) on the plan of the Premier to depose the then Emir of Kano, Sir Muhammadu Sanusi from the throne. When he got to Lagos he met the then Prime Minister in company of his five ministers, Alhaji Muhammadu Ribadu (1910-1965), Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Alhaji Zanna Bukar Suloma Dipcharima(1917-1969), Alhaji Maitama Sule and Alhaji Tudun Wada. The ministers advised against the premier’s decision.

Abeokuta: Court remands man, 32, for defiling 3yr-old-girl




ABEOKUTA-A Magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta has remanded a-32-year-old Kazeem Odetayo in prison for allegedly defiling a-three year-old girl.
The acussed was reported to have inserted his finger into his victim’s private part on June 1, 2014 at Agbegilere street, Itoku, Abeokuta.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Eiggbejiale told the court that the acussed enticed the victim with snacks before he defiled her.

24 activists stand trial for illegal protest in Egypt



The trial of 24 activists on charges of holding an illegal protest has started in an Egyptian courst this Sunday, DPA cites an independent newspaper al-Masry al-Youm as saying.

The defendants are also charged with damaging public and private property, possessing explosives and assaulting police. They were arrested last week at a rally held in Cairo denouncing the anti-protest law.
The defendants, who appeared before the Cairo Misdemeanour Court, chanted anti-government slogans during the session, al-Masry al-Youm reported. The court said the trial would resume on September 13, ordering the accused to remain in police custody.

Eruption in Indonesia: no casualties, emergency evacuation of locals



Indonesia's Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra province erupted Sunday evening, gushing 4,000 meter-high cloud of ash and smoke into the air, an official said. There were no immediate reports of casualties, said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

"The eruption is sending hot clouds about 4,500 meters towards the south-east," Nugroho said, adding that the local villagers living at the foot of the mountain have been told to evacuate, informs DPA.

Pakistani forces kill 16 militants during offensive campaign



Pakistani fighter jets Sunday killed 16 Islamist militants in airstrikes, the military said, as an offensive against Taliban insurgents in the country's north-west enters its third week, reports DPA. Military planes bombed seven suspected hideouts used by militants linked with the al-Qaeda terrorist network around Mir Ali town in North Waziristan tribal district near the Afghan border, an army statement said.

More than half a million civilians have already fled the region since the operation was launched on June 15, said an official with the disaster management agency.
