Yobo: It wasn’t our day; Keshi: We didn’t play to lose

We are still a young team – MosesSuper Eagles playmaker, Victor Moses  praised the team’s achievement in the ongoing World Cup. After losing 2-0 to France yesterday he said,”I thought we did well today.
“We started very well. We were organised. We got a goal which would have given us more confidence but was disallowed.
Keshi: We didn’t play to lose
We were good individually. It will get better, we are still a young squad.”

We won’t focus on Messi – Yobo




Fenerbahce defender Joseph Yobo has stressed that Nigeria will not focus on stopping Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi when they square off with Argentina on Wednesday afternoon.
The Super Eagles skipper has pointed out that there are 10 other players that will be on parade at the Estádio José Pinheiro Borba .

Great mistake ? World Cup - Keshi picks Yobo, drops Mba, Uzoenyi



After hours of waiting on Monday, Stephen Keshi released the final World Cup list at midnight. And as the drama and suspense that preceded the release, the list also came with some surprises.
Joseph Yobo will play in his third FIFA World Cup finals and have opportunity to become Nigeria’s first-ever century — international after he was named in the African champions’ final list of 23 for Brazil 2014 but African Nations Championship Most Valuable Player, Ejike Uzoenyi and AFCON winner, Sunday Mba failed to make the final cut. Gabriel Rueben and Babatunde Michael made the list.

Amaechi Names Street, N4.3bn College After Yobo



Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has named a block and a N4.3bn football college after Super Eagles skipper and Fenerbahce defence strongman, Joseph Yobo.  Amaechi named the street resulting in Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Ikwerre Local Government Area of their state after Yobo as a mark of respect to him for leading the national team to victory at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The governor spoke during a state banquet in honour of the Super Eagles'star at Government House in Port Harcourt on Saturday.  He explained, “We are very proud of you (Yobo) as you played well and have inked well for the united states; I congratulate you and your spouse and I wish you all of the best.

“Osaze Lacks Respect!!! We Can’t Continue To Babysit Him” – Yobo Joseph





Super Eagles player, Yobo Joseph has lashed back at fellow player, Osaze Odemwingie, effectively telling him to grow up.  Odemwingie had severally complained on the social networking site, Twitter, about his non-inclusion in the Super Eagles team blaming the team coach, Stephen Keshi for his woes. Responding to Odemwingie, Joseph described the player as “reckless and disrespectful.”
