Detained Boko Haram Suspects Plead For Second Chance, Say They Were Brainwashed

Over 50 detained members of the Boko Haram sect have appealed to Federal Government to offer them another chance as these were ‘brain washed'into picking up arms contrary to the Nigerian state and its citizens.

The sect members made the appeal once the presidential committee on dialogue and peaceful resolution of security challenges in the North visited one of many detention centres in Maiduguri, Borno State capital on Tuesday.

According to one of many detainees Adam Konto, who introduced himself to the chairman of the committee, Kabir Turaki since the Amir (Commander) of the Bayan quarters, among Boko Haram's strongholds in Maiduguri, the detained members if released, is going to be law abiding and assist the FG in bringing the deadly insurgence to an end.

Police Say They Can't Find Bodies of the Alleged Beheaded Girls

After three hours of searching the bushes and thick forests in the Ijebu-Ode, the Nigeria Police, Ogun State command say they couldn't find the said headless of three university girls that were allegedly thrown from a speeding Range Rover sports car on Monday morning.

The Ogun State Police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi said:

“When I heard about it, I alerted our men who went there but saw nothing and got no report of such thing in the area.” He added that the believe of the police is that the report is mischievous.

It would be recalled that a reported circulated on Monday about the alleged strange corpses which states that, "Three corpses of female students whose heads have been beheaded was thrown from a Range Rover sport jeep at Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan road on Monday morning by men suspected to be their Sugar Daddies.

"One of the girl is fair in complexion with UNILAG identity card (Yetunde Ajao) inside her hand bag. The second girl is an OOUITE student (Oyindamola Esan) also fair in complexion and kind of tall. The last girl is short, plumpy and dark."

Renowned constitutional lawyer and former Secretary General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof Ben Nwabueze,  Saturday in Enugu raised the alarm that Nigeria is fast sliding into a failed state, insisting that proactive steps must be taken to checkmate the impending danger.

Nwabueze’s alarm came even as other eminent Nigerians, including former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade; Secretary General of the Patriots, Chief Mike Orabator, former governor of old Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife; Col. Ben Gbulie; Amb. J. U Ayalogu; Col Joe Achuzie; Chief Solomon Asemota; and Prof Mark Odu, among others, equally insisted that anything short of the convocation of a National Conference before the 2015 general elections would spell doom for the nation.

The leaders made their views known at the 14th Annual Convention of the Igbo Youth Movement (IYM), with the theme “National Conference before 2015 elections; only road to a greater Nigeria” which held in Enugu Saturday.
