He was a patriot, say Fayemi, Adeyeye




The Minister of State for Works, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye, has described the death of civil war hero Brigadier-General Benjamin Adekunle (retd.), as a painful loss to the Yoruba nation in particular and Nigeria.


He said, “We can only pray to God for the repose of the soul of this patriotic Nigerian, who was among those who put their lives on the line to sustain our country.”

Failure to punish impunity responsible for terrorism –Fayemi





Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has identified the Federal Government’s failure to punish impunity as the major factor responsible for the rise in violent crimes and terrorism in the country.

He cited the failure of the Federal Government to punish the members of the violent Ombatse cult who killed over 70 security personnel in Nasarawa State, noting that it was such impunity that encouraged people to commit grave crimes.

Fayemi lost but Fayose did not win.



If you are talking about results from a population of 2.3 million, with over 1.6 million eligible voters and 700,000 plus registered voters from which meagre figures totalling just about half of registered voters voted, as victories and loses, then you can have a field day celebrating or crying. But if you are really recognising the depressing reality and hopelessness of Nigeria under its current democracy, if we can use that term, then the results of the Ekiti election are a cause of consolidated grief and reason to ask – when will the people stand up?

Ayodele Fayose Displaces Fayemi From Office In Ekiti



Ayo Fayose of PDP scored 203, 090 number of votes to beat the candidate of the APC Kayode Fayemi, who scored 120, 433 while the candidate of the Labour Party, Bamidele Opeyemi scored 18,135 votes to come third in yesterday's gubernatorial election in Ekiti state, Yorubaland.

Revolution in Nigeria Has Began – Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi



Kayode Fayemi, the Ekiti State Governor said Friday that a revolution has now began in Nigeria and will continue until the change Nigerians have for years been yearning for takes root.

The governor was speaking at the official launch of the All Progressive Change (APC) in Ekiti State at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti. Fayemi said the APC is no longer the opposition party but the alternative government, which the nation wants at the centre.

FG recruits 500 engineers for new power plants – Gov. Fayemi




Abuja –  The Federal Government says it has begun the recruitment of 500 qualified engineers for the effective running of the nation’s 10 new power plants.

Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti made this known to State House correspondents after a meeting of the Board of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo in Abuja on Friday.

Fayemi, who is also a member of the board, said the exercise was meant to address the critical challenge of lack of skilled manpower in the nation’s power sector.

No apology on Fayemi’s 2nd term endorsement – Tinubu

NATIONAL leader of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, weekend, said he has no apology to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in exercising his democratic rights as a citizen and party leader to endorse Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, as the party’s governorship nominee to seek a second term come the 2014 election.
Reacting to PDP outburst through Mr. Tony Okeke, its Acting National Publicity Secretary, Asiwaju Tinubu, insisted, however, that he was neither  disturbed nor surprised at the level to which PDP could descend to attack perceived enemies or tormentors.

Okeke complained against what he called venom in the PDP’s statement and downright gutter language employed in attacking the remarks by Asiwaju Tinubu.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi gives N300m to 82 communities



Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has given N300m to 82 communities in the state to undertake various community projects under the Self-Help Programme of the state government.
The cheques were presented to the communities in Oye Ekiti at a ceremony attended by dignitaries including the Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, Chief Bisi Akande, a former governor, Niyi Adebayo, and Fayemi’s wife, Bisi.
He said the gesture was in fulfillment of the resolutions reached with community leaders in the state during the stakeholders’ meetings held last year.
He added that the self-help project was in line with the government’s commitment to bring development to the people. Fayemi, “As part of the efforts of the present administration to bring development to the rural communities where over 75 per cent of the populace reside, the Ministry of Rural Development and Community Empowerment was created in January 2013.

Yuguda, Fayemi, others for Yoruba youth summit



BAUCHI State governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda and his Ekiti State counterpart, Dr Kayode Fayemi, are among top Nigerians that would address Yoruba youths at a summit organised by the Yoruba Youth Forum.
The summit, according to a statement by the coordinator of the group, Mr Wale Ayeni, would also have the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Mr Kingsley Kuku, as well as the Special Adviser to the President on Youth and Student Matters, Mr Jude Imagwe, in attendance.
Ayeni, in the statement, said the summit, with the theme: “Nigeria at 100: True Federalism, a Panacea to Nigeria’s Corporate Existence,” would take place in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Thursday.
The group, on the occasion, would also honour some prominent Nigerians.

Fayemi condoles parents of drowned boy





The Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has condoled with the family of seven-year old, Olamide Ayeni who was drowned in the flood after heavy rains in Ado-Ekiti.
The boy was said to have been sent on an errand with his elder sister, Faith, but fell into a flooded drain while returning home. Condoling the family, Fayemi described the incident as pathetic, noting that having lost his deputy; he knew the pains Olamide’s parents are going through.
“The loss of any of our children gives us a lot of pains. This is a very young kid, an innocent person who had a good future and we have lost him to an avoidable tragedy like this. It was a terrible loss.
