"I'm sorry for the Adadevoh's pain" - Patrick Sawyer's widow says
Decontee Sawyer, the widow of late late Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, the man who brought the deadly Ebola disease to Nigeria, says she regrets the death of Doctor Ameyo Adadevor of First Consultant Hospital, who died of the Ebola virus on Tuesday August 19th after being infected by Sawyer.
In an email to Leadership.ng, Mrs Sawyer, who lives in Minnesota, USA, said she's pained that her late husband caused so many others so much pain both in Liberia and Nigeria.
"I share the pains that the family members of the Nigerian doctor are going through. It is just a pity that Patrick had to cause this damage both in Liberia and Nigeria.”

Photo: Mother of 3 nabbed with Cannbis at Lagos Airport
A 37-year-old mother of three, Ezeh Ifeoma Maureen (pictured above), has been arrested with substances suspected to be cannabis by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to The Nation, Maureen was caught at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, during outward screening of China-bound Ethiopian Airlines’ passengers for allegedly attempting to smuggle 6.200 kilogrammes of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis.
The agency’s Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, said the suspect told the officers that her bags contained vegetables and foodstuff.

Edo State Government debunks connection with death of 25-year-old man
The Edo State Government has said that it had no connection in the death of a 25-year-old physically-challenged man who died on Tuesday, after his body was dumped by unknown persons in Benin.
The late man, identified as Danjuma, was found lying lifeless in front of his uncle’s house at Oza Street in Benin. It was also learnt that the deceased had earlier been dumped on a heap of refuse behind the house for several days by one Mr. Arase, who was identified as his uncle, and was occasionally fed by some good-spirited Nigerians.

Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, Lagos have smashed a syndicate that specialize in selling human parts, Vanguard reports. The 3 suspects whose names were given as Mustapha Muritala, Sunday Oluyeba and Adenike Olanrewaju, were arrested at the Ojumerin area of Sagamu, Ogun State following a tip off. Recovered from the suspects were two human skulls suspected to have been procured from a graveyard.

Video of deadly St Louis police shooting raises questions (GRAPHIC)
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has released mobile phone footage that seems to be at odds with parts of its story surrounding the officer-involved shooting of Kajieme Powell in the weeks after Michael Brown’s death.
According to St. Louis Public Radio, the police released the video Wednesday evening as part of an effort to be more transparent when it comes to violent incidents involving law enforcement. In addition to the cell phone footage, the department also released security camera footage of the alleged robbery, as well as the two 911 calls made to police.

British ISIS Jihadi vows to be first woman to behead UK or US prisoner
A British jihadi woman linked to the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) has vowed to become the first woman to behead a person from the UK or US.
Khadijah Dare tweeted she wants to become the first British woman to kill a UK or US citizen. This comes a day after a video emerged of the beheading of US journalist James Foley.
Dare posted: ‘Any links 4 da execution of da journalist plz. Allahu Akbar. UK must b shaking up haha. I wna b da 1st UK woman 2 kill a UK or US terorrist! (sic)’

Fake soldier granted interview to BBC - DHQ reveals
On Tuesday August 19th, a Nigerian soldier spoke with the BBC explaining why himself and several other soldiers refused the order from their superiors to go fight Boko Haram insurgents. He alleged that they certainly were not provided good weapons and ammunition and so gave Boko Haram upper hand during any battle as the militants tend to be more well equipped (read that here).
Now the Defence Headquarters revealed the man who spoke with BBC is an impostor. Their statement below after the break.

Equip soldiers to fight Boko Haram, Ohanaeze tells FG
The group, noted that the security agencies would be able to perform their responsibilities of defending the nation if given the right materials and resources to achieve their mandate.
The President-General of Ohanaeze, Chief Gary Enwo-Igariwey, who stated this when he visited the Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, in Abuja on Thursday, explained that the security operatives need the right equipment to protect lives and properties and save the nation from the ravages of terrorists.

Professionals Urge Fair sharing of Ebola Test Drugs
The limited doses of Ebola trial drugs must not be reserved for the well-off or well-connected, two medical ethics experts said on Thursday as two American doctors treated with an experimental serum were pronounced cured.
“Fair selection of participants is essential,” Ezekiel Emanuel of the University of Pennsylvania and Annette Rid of Kings College London wrote in The Lancet medical journal.
“Especially in a dire emergency such as this one, well-off and well-connected patients should not be further privileged.”

Tony Elumelu donates ₦50million to contain Ebola virus in Nigeria
The Chairman of Heirs Holdings and former MD of UBA bank, Mr Tony Elumelu has donated N50m to aid the Federal Government's effort to retain the Ebola virus in Nigeria. Dan Nwomeh, the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Health Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu announced this today on social media. The management of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria also donated an ambulance to the Ebola Emergency Operation Centre in Lagos.

ACP Frank Mba has bowed out as the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force. In a letter of appreciation he delivered today, Mr Mba expressed his gratitude to the media and the Nigerian people for contributing to his successful tenure. Mba, who had been promoted to the rank of Assistant Police Commissioner in June, has been redeployed to Lagos State Command being an Area Commander, Area J. 2015: We won’t allow hooded security operatives, says Jega
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, said on Wednesday that the commission would not allow security operatives to be masked during the 2015 general elections.
Jega told the CSO representatives on Wednesday that the emerging trend of security operatives wearing mask during elections was worrisome. According to him, the wearing of hood by security men during elections is not in tandem with the principle of transparency guiding the conduct of an election.
