Meet ‘Mama Boko Haram’: The Woman Brokering For Peace Between FG & Terrorists



Aisha Wakil  a 44 year old female lawyer and activist has been at the fore front of brokering for peace between the Nigerian government and the Boko Haram group, the extremist group responsible for massive violence in Northern Nigeria.

Here close ties to their members and the ability to talk to them has earned her the title “Mama Boko Haram”. The fighters see her as a mother figure and also call her Um el Salam [Arabic for mother of peace].

Remi Tinubu faces Senate committee on Ethics & Privileges over recent statements.



Wife of former Lagos State Governor and a serving Senator, Oluremi Tinubu has been directed by the Senate leadership to face a Senate committee on Ethics and Privileges over recent statements she made during a recent interview she granted a print media.
 
Senator Tinubu, who represents Lagos Central Senatorial District, in an interview she granted to celebrate her 3rd year in the Senate, described the current leadership of the Senate as always working in favor of the PDP led arm of Government and also failing to address some pressing National issues.
 
Aggrieved by her remarks, Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba presented it before the house at yesterday June 26th plenary session, saying it was unkind of her to have said such a thing. .....

Ejigbo pepper sodomy suspects arraigned in court



 A few of the men involved in the Ejigbo pepper sellers torture were today June 27th arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate court sitting at Igbosere. The magistrate after much deliberations granted bail to all ten of the arraigned suspects. Four other suspects continue to be at large. |The US media is pointing to a growing dissatisfaction with President Obama's foreign policy, both among Republicans and Democrats. 
Speaking at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s conference in Washington Sen. Ted Cruz said"Abroad, we see our foreign policy collapsing and every region in the world is getting more and more dangerous". 
According to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll has registered an increasing lack of faith in the president and his leadership, with 58 per cent of Americans disapproving of the way Obama is handling foreign policy.

400 Ukrainian soldiers surrender to Ukrainian militia



Four hundred Ukrainian soldiers went over to the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), Sergey Kavtaradze, special representative of the DNR's PM, said.

"Yesterday, a military formation that amounted to 400 soldiers surrendered to 15 soldiers of the militia. The skirmish lasted for seven hours. No militia's soldiers were killed," Sergey Kavtaradze said.

US army flying drones over Baghdad - official



The US military is flying armed drones over Baghdad to defend American troops and diplomats in the Iraqi capital if necessary, a senior US official said Friday.

"For the last 24 to 48 hours, we've started that," the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP, confirming earlier media reports.
The move comes after the United States deployed 180 troops as military advisers in recent days to help the Iraqi government army fend off the advance of Sunni militants, who have captured territory north and west of the capital.

 A ghastly motor accident which occurred this morning on Lagos-Ibadan express way has left six people dead and many injured. It also led to heavy traffic between Kara and Berger, a part of the highway.

Channels Sunrise, a daily morning programme was unable to be aired this morning, because its crew were caught in the heavy traffic jam, the station announced.

Father Sells His Son Right After Birth For ₦500,000



A 27-year-old Mr. Ogbonna Chukwudi has been arrested by the Abia state police force for selling his Son for N500, 000.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adamu Ibrahim, confirmed the incident saying, Ogbonna arranged with a nurse, Amarachi Chiamaka, to sell the baby just hours after he was born.

North Korea's military forces on high alert - media



North Korean armed forces are ready for action, an article published inRodong Sinmun newspaper says. Moreover, the article says that the US "brought enormous pain and disaster to the Korean nation, by provoking the Korean War" that is usually called the Patriotic Liberation War in the country.

"There is no justification of American imperialists' actions conducted during this war," Rodong Sinmun says. However, "the US hasn’t learned a lesson from its defeat and continues to hold a hostile policy towards North Korea, the country’s remaining enemy," the newspaper said.

Between 20 & 50 Boko Haram Suspects Nabbed In Enugu





Between 20 and 50 suspected Boko Haram members were apprehended at Obollo Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, on June 25, 2014, Wednesday.

A group of suspected terrorists were travelling in a commercial luxury bus of a popular private commercial company, when it was stopped by security operatives.

According to Punch, a team of the National Task Force on Small Arms was responsible for stopping the bus, plate number AKD816XG. The arrest of 20 suspects was confirmed by its reporter.

US military launches campaign against press freedom



US army that operates from a secret base in Arizona, to start a war on independent media through hacking and blocking communications.Computer security teams cooperating with Veterans Today traced a pattern of attacks to Fort Huachuca, headquarters of the US Army Intelligence School, Press TV reports.

This secret base, located in small town of Sierra Vista, Arizona, is base for this spying operation and also for US drone program. All drone attacks start there, and also drones are developed and tested there.

Putin to visit Buenos Aires in July to strengthen cooperation with Argentina



Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he plans to visit Buenos Aires in July to lay the groundwork for joint projects between Russia and Argentina in the energy sector, including civilian nuclear technologies, military-technological cooperation and machine building.

"Argentina is one of Russia's key partners in Latin America," Putin said on Friday.

Dozens of Chinese workers evacuated in northern Iraq



Dozens of Chinese workers have been relocated from strife-torn northern Iraq, state media said Friday, with an additional 1,200 set to depart in the coming days. More than 50 China Machinery Engineering Corp (CMEC) workers arrived in Baghdad by helicopter from northern Iraq on Wednesday night, the state-run China Daily newspaper reported. Another 1,200 trapped in the northern city of Samarra will arrive in Baghdad by bus "within three days", the report added.

Militants from the jihadist group the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have spearheaded a lightning offensive that has captured swathes of territory north and west of Baghdad this month.

Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and EU sign free trade zone agreement with EU.



The European Union and Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia signed an Association Agreement in Brussels on Friday, June 27. Three documents carry the signatures of European Council President Herman van Rompuy, European Commission President Manuel Barroso and Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko, of Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and Georgian Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili.

The 1,135-page agreement will now have to be signed by the leaders of the EU's 28 member countries.
After the signing the document, Ukrainian Presdient Petr Poroshenko expressed hopes of the rapid ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement by all members of the European Union.

Anti-constitutional coup has split Ukraine - President Putin



The anti-constitutional coup staged in Ukraine and attempts to artificially impose a choice between Europe and Russia on that country have pushed Ukrainian society toward a split, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

"The acute crisis in this neighboring country seriously troubles us. The anti-constitutional coup in Kyiv and attempts to artificially impose a choice between Europe and Russia on the Ukrainian people have pushed society toward a split and painful confrontation," the Russian leader said.

Emab plaza bomb blast: GEJ withdraws from AU summit, heads home



 President Jonathan who was in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea attending the 23rd Session of the African Union Heads of States when the bomb blast occurred at Emab plaza in Abuja yesterday June 25th killing 21 people, is said to have withdrawn from the summit & is currently back in the country to assess the situation.

North Korea's Prime Minister Threatens To Go To War With USA Over New Movie.




North Korea has promised "merciless" retaliation if a forthcoming Hollywood movie about killing Kim Jong-un is released, say agencies.  A North Korean foreign ministry spokesman said in state media that the movie's release would be an "act of war".


He did not mention the title, but a Hollywood movie called The Interview with a similar plot is due in October. Hollywood actors James Franco and Seth Rogen star in the action-comedy film.

Terrorist attack in Nigeria condemned by Russian Foreign Ministry



No Russian citizens were injured in the recent terrorist attack near a shopping mall in Nigeria's capital Abuja, Interfax reports the Russian Foreign Ministry sating on its website.

"On June 25, following a strong explosion of a bomb, which extremists placed in close proximity to a shopping mall in central Abuja, Nigeria's capital, 21 people died and over 50 were injured. According to the information of the Russian embassy in Nigeria, no Russian citizens are among those injured," was said in the document.
