Girl hacked to death by former-boyfriend on her way to school

A 16-year old girl was hacked to death by her ex-boyfriend with a machete on her way to school in Kenya.
In accordance with reports, the victim, an form three student at Bishop Okoth Miranga Secondary School was ambushed by the suspect at about 6 a.m.
It was gathered from witnesses a quarrel had ensued between suspect and the deceased over a love affair turned sour.

Boy & Girl hang each other as parent refuse to let them marry.



U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-E!!!
 This is a picture of a girl & a boy who hanged themselves on a tree because their parents refused to let them marry each other. A disagreement between both families was what caused the parents to say No to their marriage. My question is, saying No to their marriage by their parents is enough reason why they should take their lives? Is this Love or Foolishness? What do you think?

Suspension: Court refuses Sanusi’s ex parte motion.



Hope of early return to office by the suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, was dashed on Wednesday when an Abuja Federal High Court refused an ex parte motion he filed in a bid to set aside his suspension by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The court instead ordered that the President should be put on notice, and fixed March 12 for both sides to argue the motion.

Dear Compatriots,
 1.  I extend warm greetings and felicitations to all Nigerians as we celebrate our nation’s centenary; a significant milestone in our journey to Nationhood.

 2. One hundred years ago, on the 1st of January 1914, the British Colonial authorities amalgamated the Southern and Northern Protectorates, giving birth to the single geo-political entity called Nigeria which has become our home, our hope, and our heritage.

 
3. I have often expressed the conviction that our amalgamation was not a mistake. While our union may have been inspired by considerations external to our people; I have no doubt that we are destined by God Almighty to live together as one big nation, united in diversity. .............

Senate orders army to the North after Yobe school massacre



With 59 school children dead in Yobe State, the Senate Defence Committee has ordered the Nigerian Army to the North East today to provide protection. (A survivor pictured above)

The Senate Defence Committee, chaired by Senator George Thompson Sekibo suspended budget hearings to pass a resolution which ordered the Nigerian Army to the North East.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Kenneth Minimah was ordered to provide security for all schools and health institutions in the Boko Haram affected areas to include Maiduguri and Yobe.

Woolwich killers Adebolajo & Adebowale get life in prison



 The 2 men who attacked a soldier, Lee Rigby, in May 2013 and hacked him to death in the streets in front of horrified onlookers near Woolwich Barracks in south-east London, have been sentenced life in prison. Michael Adebolajo, 29, was presented with a whole-life term, while Michael Adebowale, 22, was jailed forever with a minimum of 45 years.

Daily Mail reports that the British-born men began shouting 'Allahu Akbar'and'You (Britain) and America will never be safe'in their sentencing at the court in Central London today. They certainly were bundled from the courtroom by several security guards following their violent outburst and the judge was forced to sentence them inside their absence.......

Nigerian man who stabbed his partner while she was in bed bags 12 years



A Nigerian businessman has been jailed for 12 years after he was found guilty of stabbing his wife as she slept in their home. Oluwabusayo Abegunde, 38, (pictured above) stabbed his wife repeatedly with a kitchen knife after he went through her phone and discovered she was seeing someone else.

Esther Abegunde, 33, told her husband of ten years that their marriage was over and moved into a spare room on February 16th 2013. Abegunde attacked her with the knife after he discovered why she wanted to leave him. Oluwabusayo stabbed Esther in the chest, arm, and punctured her left lung, according to the Manchester Evening News. Continue...

Federal government increases passport charge by 50%



The Federal Government has increased passport fee by 50%. Based on a circular signed by the Deputy Comptroller responsible for Operations/Passport and released a few days ago titled'Passport Reforms ', applicants will now pay N15,000 rather than N10,000. (It was officially N10,000 but most of us understand how much we really paid.) Also applicants for change of data will pay now N30,000.

A statement from the Ondo State Government, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Aderotimi Adelola, said the former Speaker died after a protracted battle with cancer of the urinary bladder.
Ajayi represented Odigbo Constituency 11 at the Ondo State House of Assembly and was 61 years old.
The statement read, “The late Speaker, during his life time was a bridge builder, a man of integrity and a reliable team player who placed the interest of the state above personal consideration.

Venezuela death toll rises to 13 as protests flare, US diplomats expelled, Pope appeals for reconciliation



Anti-government protesters in the Venezuelan capital burn rubbish and put up barricades. Access to the main avenues has been barred and traffic has slowed to a crawl. These blockades are the latest in a series of opposition protests in which 13 people have died. Demonstrators say they'll continue with their protests, until President Nicolas Maduro resigns.

Opposition leader Henrique Capriles is also demanding the government release protest leader Leopoldo Lopez and about a dozen student demonstrators, imprisoned on charges of inciting violence. He spurned an invitation to meet the president for talks.

Saudi Arabia to provide weapons from Pakistan to Syrian Rebels



Saudi source has announced on Sunday that Saudi Arabia is in the middle of negotiations with Pakistan regarding the purchase of anti-aircraft and anti-tank rockets in order to support Syrian rebels. For Saudi Arabia it is a way of helping Syria to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad. 

Initially the US position on proving arms to the rebels was negative due to the fear of those weapons easily falling into the hands of extremists. However, due to the failure of Geneva peace talks, it seems that Washington is ready to reconsider their position.

3 Nigerian students Get death sentence for drug trafficking in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.





KUALA LUMPUR: Three Nigerian college students were sentenced to death by a High Court here for trafficking 1008.3gm of methamphetamine two years ago.

Justice Kamardin Hashim made the decision after the defence failed to raise doubt against Chigozie Patrick Umeohudo, 26, Nnaemeka Nwafor, 25, and Chibuike Collions Nnebedum, 24, by end of defence case.

A Limpopo policeman, who is also a pastor in the Zion Christian Church who helped people with various problems, has appeared in the Seshego Magistrate's Court in South Africa on charges of rape and corruption, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said.
“His appearance follows his arrest by the Ipid on February 21,” spokesman Moses Dlamini said in a statement.

A final year student of the Western Annag Secondary Commercial School in Ukanafun, Ukanafun LGA of Akwa Ibom State, was at the weekend struck to death by a bolt of lightning.


Victor, 15, was an indigene of Nkek village.

Dangote Slashes The price of Cement At Kaduna Fair



Dangote Cement has slashed cement price in an ongoing promo at the Kaduna 35th International Trade Fair.  Customers have the opportunity of buying the discounted product at the company’s pavilion, the company’s regional sales manager, Obasola Alo, said.
The new promo liberalises the extant policy where customers who intend to buy directly at factory price could only do so if they were buying trucks of cement.
“Two or more people can come together to buy 100 bags. We are partnering with Access Bank whose representatives are at the fair where customers can pay and get their product,” he said.

Ogun LP Crisis: Police Raid Daniel's House



My attention has been drawn to Vanguard publication of Tuesday 25 February, 2014 (page 11) titled 'Ogun LP Crisis: Police Raid Daniel's House' and wish to state categorically that the men of the Nigeria Police Force never raided the residence of the former  governor as stated in the report.

The two parties involved in the alleged invasion of the Labour Party secretariat have been invited by the Ogun State Police Command and the onus rests on the Command to carry out its investigations and established the facts therein.
