Nollywood Celebrities take to the street Against Domestic Violence & Jungle Justice (Pics)



Nollywood actors and actresses, mostly from the Yoruba-speaking side of the Nigerian movie industry today marched against domestic violence and jungle justice in Nigeria. The home movie makers took school children along with them, demonstrating that children have prominence for future and should be properly treated. 

They scold parents/guardians to desist from abusing their children/wards. While calling on government to be more pro-active on policy initiation and implementation to protect women and children. The protesters condemned jungle justice, citing the case of sodomy of three women who were tortured and sodomized for allegedly stealing pepper at Ejigbo market.

 Nollywood movie director, Dickson Iroegbu, who has faced gay allegations in the past, which he has vehemently denied, took to Facebook some days ago to state his thoughts on the anti-gay bill. LASU Riot Update: University shut down indefinitely



 Lagos State School ((LASU) has been turn off indefinitely following what the college termed'crazy protest by students '.   The college management provided the bulletin over launching the long closure, and asked all students to vacate the college premises until further notice. Exams have already been defer until further notice.   Trouble began at the School yesterday after the VC Prof. David Obafunwa declined to re-open the registration site for around 1200 students left to join up for examinations. Linda was found guilty of the assault nowadays and will undoubtedly be sentenced on March 7th.


Robbers attack, left gun in Lagos church (Pictures)



The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos, has apprehended a six-man robbery gang which allegedly attacked a church, Christ Authority and Power Evangelical Ministry, in the Ijanikin area of the state during the church’s crossover service on January 1, 2014. The suspects, Adewale Osoja, Bala Yahaya, Hasan Ado, Ahmed Boladele, Abiodun Olanrewaju and Abbey Edward, were said to have stolen the church’s offering and also robbed members of the congregation of their Ipads, phones, jewellery and other valuables.

A Federal Capital Territory High Court, Gudu, Abuja, has sentenced a 24-year-old student of Industrial Engineering of the Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Bello Onimisi, to three months imprisonment.
The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said in an electronic mail on Wednesday that the court, presided over by Justice Adebunkola Banjoko, found Onimisi guilty on two counts of conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretence.

A few weeks ago, precisely in the closing weeks of 2013, a rather disturbing but not entirely surprising piece of news almost went unnoticed: A group of soldiers numbering about 100 from the 31st Artillery Brigade, Minna, Niger State had stormed a police station in the town and held the officers hostage. Riot: Students Disrupt Exams, Stone Vice Chancellor (PHOTOS)



Students of the Lagos State University (LASU) went on the rampage on Thursday, disrupting the university's second semester examination and destroying properties in the process.
The students had closed and halted all activities Wednesday night as they protested within and in front of the school premises, while blocking the main gate and making bonfires on the Lagos-Badagry expressway.

China introduces passport control for uploading movies for Internet users



Chinese internet users who want to post videos on any local video sharing websites will have to register under their real names. This regulation only applies to Chinese video hosting sites. From now on, Chinese users will be asked to confirm their identity by presenting an ID card to the webpage's administration to be able to upload videos.

The new rule has been implemented to "prevent vulgar content, base art forms, exaggerated violence and sexual content in Internet video having a negative effect on society," China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) said on its website.

Thousands gather at US embassy in Kiev, demand to stop financing violent clashes in city



Several thousand demonstrators gathered around the US embassy in central Kiev demanding the American government to stop financing mass protests and clashes with the police.

"The US is behind everything that is happening in Kiev's downtown right now. The financing is coming from over there. This has to be stopped. That is what we came out here to say to the whole world: 'US - stop! US - there needs to be peace in Ukraine,'" said Ivan Protsenko, one of the demonstrators' leaders.

School principal, 6 other gays stoned in Bauchi court




BAUCHI — There was pandemonium at the Upper Court 4 in Anguwan Jaki, Bauchi State, yesterday, as an angry  mob almost lynched seven suspected homosexuals brought to court for trial.
One of the suspects was identified as the Principal of a Government Secondary School in the state.

The development forced security personnel at the court premises to rescue the suspects by firing gunshots in the air and using teargas to disperse the mob.
The suspects are Ibrahim Marafa, Shehu Adamu, Yusuf Adamu, Aliyu Dalhatu, Abdulmalik Tanko, Usman Sabo and Hazif Sabo Abubakar.

Union Bank building in Abuja gutted by fire, countless Naira worth of furniture was destroyed



Union Bank building in U.T.C Area 10 in Abuja was gutted by fire today, The final floor of the 3-storey building was completely razed and the favorite Abuja furniture store, Hadar Situare was also affected in the fire. Countless Naira worth of furniture was destroyed.   The fire was eventually put out by the combined team work of the Airforce fire fighters & the Federal Fire Fighters. It took seventeen trucks of water to out the fire out. The explanation for the fire could not be ascertained.

I Went Into Robbery Tomake money, to Pay ₦1.5M Bride Price - Suspect



A robbery suspect, Mr Godwin Olukporibe, has confessed that he was forced to form a robbery gang when his father-in-law asked him to pay N1.5 million bride price before he could marry his pregnant girlfriend.


The suspect was arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Lagos State Police Command, following a tip-off that he was in a hotel with his girlfriend in Ibadan, Oyo State, western Nigeria.
