The 2015 gubernatorial election in Delta State is set to produce a lot of drama, especially if fillers emerging from the media is anything to go by. Information has it that human rights activist, Mr Festus Keyamo, has indicated his interest to contest for the governorship of the state.
The human rights activist made this known recently in Effurun-Warri, Delta State, at the maiden edition of Delta Forces United (DFU), a rallying point being put in place to mobilise and galvanise progressives in the state.

Saudi Arabia Executes Seven For Armed Robbery





Source Gathered that Saudi Arabia on Wednesday executed seven men for armed robbery, the Interior Ministry said, despite an appeal for clemency by United Nations human rights investigators.
The seven were sentenced to death in 2009 for crimes committed in 2005 and 2006 when human rights groups said some were younger than 18.
The conservative Islamic kingdom, which applies a strict interpretation of sharia, has faced criticism by Western countries for its frequent use of capital punishment and trials that human rights groups say do not meet international standards.

HEARTLESS: Man Poisons Girlfriend’s Drink With Eye Drops



A 27-year-old man was arrested last week Thursday (March 8) for poisoning his girlfriend by spiking her drink with Visine eye drops after a domestic dispute. The incident took place in Grass Valley, California, between Shayne Carpenter and his girlfriend. After an argument, Carpenter spiked his girl’s drink with Visine, the eye drops that purport to “get the red out”, ABC News reports.  He texted his friends about the prank, little did he know how snoopy his girlfriend could be, who found the messages and phoned the cops.

Prof. Amobi Ilika has advised those who consume sachet water (popularly called pure water) exposed to heat to be wary in order to avoid drinking cancerous substances.
Ilika, who is the Director of Community and Public Medicine at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, said sachet water exposed to heat beyond room temperature could be cancerous.
He said the heat could melt some of the substances used in making the polythene bags.

Female NYSC asked to leave orientation camp for refusing to wear trousers in camp



National Youth Service Corps in Ogun State has stopped a female corps member, Miss Tolutope Ekundayo, from participating in the ongoing orientation programme for allegedly refusing to wear trousers at the camp.
 
Ekundayo, who spoke with reporters after a press conference organised by the General Overseer, Faith Revival Apostolic Church, Apostle Paul Adenuga in Lagos, said she was thrown out of the camp at about 11pm on Friday.
The corps member, a graduate of the Lagos State University, Ojo, alleged that NYSC officials asked her to leave the camp after she refused to wear trousers, one of the corps members’ attire.

2 Hospital Workers Arrested Over Alleged Baby Swap




Two health workers attached to a private clinic in Osogbo, Osun State capital, are now in police net following the role they played in an ugly baby swap game.

The two suspects, (names withheld), now in the custody of the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, were arrested for allegedly exchanging a new born baby belonging to one Nurudeen Semia.

Silicone Fingers: Doctor in Brazil used 'fake fingers' to sign in absent colleagues




A Brazilian doctor faces charges of fraud after being caught on camera using silicone fingers to sign in for work for absent colleagues. Police say the ploy involved 11 doctors and 20 nurses. The town's mayor, Acir Fillo, says that the police investigation showed that some 300 public employees in the town, whom he described as ''an army of ghosts'', had been receiving pay without going to work.

Corlett “Lolo” Sono and Siboniso Anthony Shabalala disappeared more than 24 years ago and now the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) believes they have found their bodies.

The world’s oldest man aged 128 is denied healthcare



The world’s oldest men, 128-year-old Julius Wanyondu Gatonga, lives in Kenya with his 89-year old wife Beth Wanjiru. 

Gatonga’s ID card shows him to be 128 years old. 

Now he is being denied health care because of his age.

According to the Kenyan National Hospital Insurance Fund Gatonga is deemed too old for their computer system, since his ID indicates that he was born in 1884, the computer system only accept birth dates from 1890. 

Man charged with assault for stabbing an intruder



A man defending himself against an intruder was charged with aggravated assault and faces up to 14 years in prison.Mahilal Moses and his girlfriend, Sarah Walsh, knew something was wrong upon entering the house of her mother just after 3 am and found the side door broken open.

They became even more alarmed to see a large pair of black Air Jordans, at the bottom of the stairs leading to the second floor, where her mother, Kimberly Walsh, was asleep. Mahilal, 26, went straight to the kitchen, grabbed a large knife and ran upstairs, where he confronted the intruder hiding behind the door of the room of Kimberly Walsh.

Within minutes, the wounded intruder, Kino Johnson, 33, was gone, and hours later Mahilal, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The case highlights the much debated issue of how much force is too much when a stranger tries to steal your property or breaks into your home.

High school teacher busted after bombarding teen with Facebook requests for s-é x



A married Tennessee high school teacher bombarded an underage student with Facebook messages asking him for sex, police said.  Angela Gaye Masingo, 39, was arrested after the boy's parents intercepted the communications and tipped off police. The alleged victim was not a pupil at Greenback School, where Masingo has taught since 1995, reports WBIR.com. Masingo, whose father is a teacher and administrator at the school, was arrested at her home has now been charged with solicitation of aggravated statutory rape. The Lenoir City resident is also accused of solicitation of sexual exploitation of a minor, and has been suspended from her job. She is being held at Blount County Detention Center on $80,000 bond, and will appear in court on Friday.


Prison guard busted exchanging cookies for sexual favors from female inmate



A prison guard traded homemade cookies for sexual favors from a female inmate, authorities have claimed.
Abner Canda, 58, is accused of handing over the sweet treats to a 22-year-old convict locked up in Snohomish County Jail, Everett, Washington-state. In exchange, he was allowed to touch her breasts, grope her private parts and perform oral sex on the woman - named only as CD - in her cell.
In an affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun, the alleged victim said she showed Canda her breasts "willingly for food" in May 2012. She was soon released from the jail, but returned in October 2012 - where another illicit encounter took place.
"[HE] came into my room behind me and kissed me and touched my breasts and also put his hand down my pants and placed his finger inside of [MY VAGINA]," she has stated.

Mom tried to sell two kids on Facebook so she could pay for her boyfriend's freedom



An Oklahoma mom tried to sell her two children for $4,000 so she could pay her boyfriend's bail, police have said.
Misty VanHorn, 22, is accused of offering up her babies — one who is 2 years old and the other just 10 months — via Facebook. The mom of two allegedly contacted a woman in Fort Smith, Ark., through the social network site.
Her oldest child was worth $1,000, or the "customer" could have both children for $4,000,  reports her as saying.
The woman, concerned about the safety of the youngsters, contacted Oklahoma Department of Human Services, who in turn notified Sallisaw Police. VanHorn was arrested on suspicion of trafficking children and is now being held in Sequoyah County Jail on $40,000 bond. The state has taken custody of the children.


Family releases Esiri’s burial arrangements

FAMILY of late Nollywood actor, Chief Justus Esiri, yesterday, released details of burial arrangement for the Village Headmaster.  According to the spokesman of the Esiri family and ace photojournalist, Mr. George Esiri, the late actor will be buried in his hometown of Abraka in Delta State on Friday, April 12.  There will be service of songs for the late Esiri on April 9, followed by a commendation mass at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mafoluku, Lagos, on April 10.
