Niger State Governor, Aliyu Berates Those Celebrating Yakowa’s Death

Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger has chided those Nigerians reported to have celebrated the death of late Gov. Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State, describing their action as “inhuman”.

Aliyu made the remark while receiving the Speaker of Niger House of Assembly, Alhaji Adamu Usman who led other members of the Assembly to pay a condolence visit on him.The visit on Aliyu was with regard to his position as chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum.

Eulogies have been pouring in for the late governor of Kaduna state, Patrick Yakowa who died in a helicopter crash in Bayelsa on Saturday.The wife of the late governor, Amina Yakowa who addressed sympathizers in Kaduna, narrated her last moments with her late husband whom she described as very “caring and loving”. She said “We were all looking forward to the 23rd of December when we will 34 years”. Mrs Yakowa was speaking at a Eucharistic Mass held for the repose of the late governor’s soul at the Chaplaincy inside the Government House.
Late Governor Yakowa , was killed in a helicopter crash alongside the former national security adviser, General Andrew Owoye Azazi on Saturday.

he last official assignment of the former governor of Kaduna State, Patrick Yakowa was at the burial ceremony of a presidential adviser, Oronto Douglas in Bayelsa.

“I am happy that I came,” the Late Yakowa had told Mr Douglas after paying tributes to and sympathising with the family of Pa Tamunobibara Douglas. After greeting their host, both Yakowa and former National Security Adviser, General Andrew Azazi took a walk away from the crowd to where the ill-fated Helicopter was stationed, ready to travel back to Port Harcourt. Little did both men know that in few hours Nigerians will be sympathising and condoling with their families as well.

According to a Muslim youth in kaduna,Mr Nazeer,he said that some Christians openly celebrated and jubilate the death of Yaradua, the same way We Muslims are now doing on Yakowa's death.

RESPONSE:

No single Nigerian celebrated Yar'dua's death in any form, either by a Christian or Muslim. The Time Yar'dua was the Nigerian President, no one bothered where he was a Christian or Muslim. The Religion issue is only a device used by Old and out-of-date Politicians to divide the common man to their advantage.

The National headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party has confirmed the death of Governor Patrick Yakowa.  Below is full text of the statement.   “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed utter shock and devastating grief at the news of the death of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa and other prominent Nigerians, including the former National Security Adviser, General Owoye Azazi in a helicopter crash today. ” Our great Party is shocked beyond imagination and no words can adequately give expression to the depth of our grief.
