Worshippers escape death threat in Owerri as police uncover explosives in Church

According to a breaking news report on Premium Times, two Improvised Explosive Devices was discovered at a church, Winners Chapel on Port Harcourt road in Owerri, Imo state today June 15th. The police detonated the bomb after detecting them. The Commissioner of Police in Imo state, Abdumajid Ali, said they have arrested six suspects during the discovery of the explosives.

The police say they believe the explosives were planted on Saturday night and timed to explode after worshippers had gathered for worship today. Thankfully it had been discovered on time. Details later.

 Doctors at Federal Medical Centre Owerri today protested over unpaid wages and said they'll soon go for indefinite strike. The doctors complained that the FMC management has formed a habit of not paying salaries and entitlements, and with so many deductions when they eventually pay.

One of the protesters said the residents haven't been paid September 2013 salary. The house officers who worked for 3 months received payment for just two months with so many deductions. They say this isn't fair considering the health risks they're subjected to on a daily basis and the fact that they're always  far away from their families on call only to have their salaries cut in half. .This is truly heart piercing and really sad for man to take care of is fellow man like animal in this 21st century, just because he stole a chicken. In accordance with information from those present at the scene, they said the person was lucky since the mob doesn't want gruesomely do away with his live  in broad day light.

Imo state reveals plan to redesign Owerri master plan

The Imo state government has disclosed plans to redesign the Owerri Master plan in order to develop and beautify the state capital to a master piece which can be compared to developed capital cities around the world.The Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning, Mr Uche Nwosu disclosed this to journalist during a news conference in Owerri, the Imo state capital. He said the Owerri Master plan which has been designed since 1976 has lost its beauty over the years due to the increasing population experienced in the city.
