Gov. Fashola Flags Off 6th Lagos Climate Change Summit, Advocates reversal of Anti-Climate choices




 “The commitment with which we have addressed the issues of Climate Change has helped us to stay abreast and safe against the hazards of nature”, he says
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Tuesday flagged off the State’s 6th Climate Change Summit saying the only way to save the Planet Earth from the adverse consequences of Climate Change was to reverse the choices made by humanity which have resulted in the change.  Fashola, who spoke at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island venue of the three-day Summit, warned that the reversal of the choices was no longer a matter of the future but must commence immediately if the Planet must be saved from further devastation and exploitation.

The next and youngest victim of the OPC people who tortured 3 peppers vendors in the Ejigbo section of Lagos for apparently taking pepper, is advocating the dealth penalty for the suspects have been caught lately, Stations TV, reports after the break.

Prof Ishola advocates cartoon version of Yoruba folktales on TV



MANY international schools of thought and researchers have said that Nigerian languages are on the verge of going into extinction because of rap interest in western culture and this trend, if steps are not taken would disenfranchise the younger generation and unborn, the identity, value and richness of their culture.
Moreover, it is truism that people without culture or tradition are lost generation. And Nigeria is one of the nations which this reality stare in the eyes as the Yoruba Language amongst others are seriously threatened by the lost of virtues and values, but a renowned scholar and culturist, Professor Akinwunmi Ishola said there are ways to revive, preserve and promote the Yoruba culture ditto language.

Nigerian Anti-Tobacco Advocates to Push for Higher Tobacco Taxes





Nigerian anti-smoking advocates are getting behind a renewed push for stiffer tobacco control and higher tobacco taxes in Nigeria.
Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, over the week, trained anti-tobacco advocates including government officials, members of the civil society, and Non-Governmental Organizations on effective strategy to get the "most comprehensive tobacco control law passed in Nigeria."
The Nigerian government is preparing a new tobacco control act after its first attempt, a civil society driven process in 2011, failed to get President Goodluck Jonathan's assent. The new tobacco bill is still at the conception stage in Nigeria's health ministry.
