Codie Thacker, a Whitley County High School junior cross-country
runner in Kentucky, says she'd been training for months for the race
that may have qualified her for their state championship – nonetheless
it wasn't to be. When her coach Gina Croley pulled the race numbers from
the meet packet, Croley said she knew immediately there would be a
problem.
Thacker's race numbers were "6-6-6."
Croley's suspicions were correct. Thacker immediately objected to the numbers. She told LEX 18 News, "It's the mark of the Beast. That's what the Bible says."
"I didn't want to risk my relationship with God to try to take that number."
