Bash Ali Protests At PDP Secretariat

A former World Boxing Federation (WBF) title holder, Bashiru Ali, popularly known as Bash Ali, has appealed to the Federal Government to support him in the staging of a world-record boxing fight to be hosted by Nigeria.
Mr. Ali who staged a protest at the headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja in pursuit of his bid was on Tuesday, locked out of the premises, alongside his supporters.  His efforts to get the Federal Government to support him in staging a Guinness Book of World Record bout have so far proved abortive. This led him to undertake a trip to Libya to seek the help of the late Muammar Gaddafi.

Mr. Ali who vented his anger to journalists outside the gate of the PDP headquarters, said he had resolved to remain at the gate of the ruling party until something positive was done about the planned boxing project.
Bash Ali began his boxing career in September 1974, when he travelled to America on a wrestling scholarship awarded by the Mildred Burke Professional School of Wrestling in the USA.
In 2006, Ali was honoured with a national title, Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), by the Federal Government of Nigeria for his achievements in the sport.
