Senator Babajide Omoworare, representing Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being responsible for the misfortune of the country.
According to Omoworare, the PDP which had clinched to power since 1999, has no meaningful plan for the country, adding that the party leadership has milk-dried the country with its- self-centeredness, budget for frivolity and economic mismanagement.
Omoworare stated this while delivering a lecture titled: “Sustainable Infrastructural Development and the Future of the State of Osun” at the Orientation Week of the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOS), held at the Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding in Osogbo, last Saturday.
The Senator maintained that Nigeria as a nation has been grossly underdeveloped despite the huge human and natural resources available to the country.
He stated that the country would have developed rapidly, had the PDP-led Federal Government ensured adequate planning, future projections for the development of the country.
Omoworare said: “We have had unpalatable experience of greedy and focusless leadership, whose interest is their pocket alone. This country has been milked mercilessly without sparing any thought for the current generation, not to talk of the future.
“This experience of bad leadership has not been limited to the military era, as our warped corrupt democratic experience at the federal level, under the PDP from 1999 till date, has not made any fundamental difference as stealing, corruption and bad governance continued unabated”.
Commenting on the ongoing development in the State of Osun, Omoworare added that the seven and half years of the PDP administration in the state was a misfortune that drew back the progress of the state.
He maintained that none of the states governed by the PDP governors in the South-West witnessed any form of development, describing the party’s regime in the zone as a black page in the region’s history.
Commending Governor Rauf Aregbesola for the massive ongoing infrastructural development in the State of Osun, Omoworare stated that the governor is exhibiting the characteristics of good governance and progressiveness.
The Senator said: “Ogbeni has not only done tremendously well, he has taken governance to the next level in the State of Osun. Every aspect of the state, be it social, public or private sector is experiencing a revolutionary transformation that has long been described as impossible.
“If the previous occupants of the seat of governance in this state have taken infrastructural development of Osun as passionate and prudently as being done by this administration, I have no doubt we would have developed rapidly beyond where we are at present.
“These radical transformations are not products of magic, they are works of a willing and prepared mind, that is set to raise the bar, giving standard of living its real meaning. Without praise singing, Osun has done creditably well under Ogbeni and we are proud to be associated with his success.
