British PM Cameron argues about Juncker`s candidacy for top EU job



British Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday made his strongest public intervention yet to stop Jean-Claude Juncker becoming the next European Commission president, saying it was nonsense to suggest that European voters had chosen him.

Cameron does not want Juncker to get the job as he views him as too much of an old-style federalist who will obstruct his push to reform the European Union and persuade British voters of the merits of staying within the 28-nation bloc, informed Reuters.

Jen Psaki suggests that phosphorus bombs under Slavyansk belongs to Russia



During a briefing, State Department spokesman Jen Psak for the first time heard from the journalists that the day before the incendiary phosphorous bombs were used under Slavyansk. Her reaction surprised the journalists.

On June 13, 2014 answering the question what is the opinion of the State Department on the use of phosphorus bombs in Slavyansk, Jen Psak repeated:
-"By whom? By Russians?"
-"By Ukrainian army", said the journalist.
-"No, I didn’t see that", answered Psaki.

Ukraine's armed forces launche first ever incendiary raid against Slavyansk suburbs.



A village of Semenovka near the Ukraine's eastern restive city of Slavyansk appears to have been targeted for a fire-bomb attack on Wednesday night, a source at the local self-defense headquarters told RIA Novosti Thursday. "Late on Wednesday, Semenovka came under attack that apparently involved fire bombs. They exploded right above the village and split into smoldering fragments," an eyewitness said.

Fires were reported to flare up all across Semenovka, the eastern suburb of Slavyansk that sits on one of the major roads to the city.

Tear gas and fireworks: Brazil World Cup off to a bang



It was a day of contrasts in Brazil as the country opened the World Cup with clashes between riot police and protesters in Sao Paulo, before wild street celebrations when the "Seleção Brasileira" beat Croatia 3-1 after coming from behind.

The fireworks that exploded over the mega-city after each goal for Brazil made the tear gas and clashes just up the road from Corinthians Arena seem so much more distant.

US companies evacuating Iraqi air base



As AFP informs, US companies were Thursday evacuating hundreds of Americans working with the Iraqi government from a major air base, US officials said, as Islamic militants swept towards Baghdad.

A US defense official confirmed that "a few hundred" American contractors from Balad air base, 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of the capital, were being moved to Baghdad for security reasons.

CIA trying to restore reputation through social networks



The CIA is trying at all cost to clear its name which was damaged after a series of sensational revelations, RT reports. CIA Director John Brennan says that he is disturbed by the manner in which the media describe his department because, in his opinion, they severely falsify information.

Earlier this month, the CIA started official pages on Facebook and Twitter. CIA representatives in the microblog service cracked a lame joke saying that they cannot either confirm or contradict the fact that this is their first twit.

Wikileaks exposes dark sides of Ukraine’s Poroshenko, Tymoshenko



Two diplomatic cables made public by WikiLeaks Public Library on US Diplomacy reveal that Ukraine’s president-elect Petr Poroshenko served as an informant for US State Department. A confidential message from the US Embassy in Kiev dating back to April 29, 2006 mentions the now widely-known confectionary tycoon twice.

Back then Poroshenko reportedly handed to the US Embassy in Kiev inside information on plotting a coalition government in 2006, Wikileaks says.

4 Men Has Been Docked For Committing Sodomy in Bauchi



In Bauchi, four middle-aged men were arraigned before a Sharia court today, for alleged sodomy. Abubakar Garba, the prosecutor, reportedly told the court that the four men were “caught in the act” in Gumau Town last month according to reports. Three of the accused pleaded guilty to the charge, and have asked for mercy. However, one of the men has pleaded not guilty to the allegation.  The case has been adjourned till June 26th.

Official: Cesc Fabregas Joins Chelsea for 30m euro.





Cesc Fabregas has completed his transfer to Chelsea from Barcelona, the Spain midfielder has announced in a statement.  The 27-year-old is currently in Brazil with the national squad but has put pen to paper on a deal that sees him return to England after leaving Arsenal for the Nou Camp in 2011.
He is believed to have signed a five-year contract for a fee in the region of £30million.

A Woman bags 25 years in Cambodia for drug trafficking



A Cambodian Municipal Court yesterday June 11th sentenced 36 year old Nigerian woman, Collin Seniola Bosede to 25 years in prison for international drug trafficking after being found with 1.5kg of methamphetamine in her bag at the Phnom Penh International Airport in August 2013. 
 
Bosede, who was travelling to Cambodia from Nigeria on August 4th made a stop at Qatar where according to her confessional statement, she met with a Canadian man named Amad who handed her a bag containing cassette players, the drug, clothes and a laptop and asked her to give it to an unidentified man in Cambodia. She was arrested as she landed at the Phnom Penh Airport.
