Latin American Leaders Congratulate Bolivian President on Victory in Elections: Reports

The leaders of Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela and Nicaragua congratulated Bolivian President Evo Morales with his re-election as the president, Bolivian information agency ABI reported Monday.
Uruguayan President Jose Mujica congratulated Morales from Montevideo in a telephone call, with Argentinian President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner also calling the Bolivian president and congratulating him personally and on behalf of all Argentinians.

Venezuela leader praises US rejection of sanctions

Cuba condemns attempts by Western countries to destabilize and overthrow gov'ts of Venezuela, Ukraine.



Cuba on Thursday condemned the attempts by some foreign countries to destabilize and overthrow the governments of Venezuela and Ukraine.

Speaking at a press conference, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed his country's "invariable and total solidarity" with Venezuela and its constitutional president, Nicolas Maduro.
The minister also denounced foreign attempts of interference in Venezuela, particularly a recent resolution passed by U.S. Congress that backs a proposal by Panama to ask the Organization of American States (OAS) to mediate the Venezuelan crisis.

Former Miss Venezuela/Telemundo actress together with ex shot dead in Venezuela




Former Miss Venezuela 2004 and popular telenovela actress, Monica Spear, 29, and her ex-husband Thomas Berry, 39, were shot dead in their car on a highway in Venezuela by armed robbers in front of their 5 year old daughter on Monday January 6th, local news reports.
Monica and Thomas were traveling with their daughter late Monday night when their car hit a sharp object which had been placed on the Puerto Cabello highway.
