Federal Gov. Recovers ₦188Bn From Ghost Workers In 215 Ministries




The Minister of Information and Supervising Minister of Defence, Mr. Labaran Maku, has disclosed that the President Goodluck Jonathan led administration has recovered the sum of N118.9 billion from ghost workers since the beginning of the year.

The minister made the disclosure during a World Press conference held in Abuja, where he stated that about 46,821 ghost workers have so far been identified from 215 Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, with the application of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS.

FG recovers £22.5m stolen assets abroad – Adoke




Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr Mohammed Adoke, said on Thursday that his ministry had recovered more than twenty million pounds allegedly stolen from Nigeria’s coffers.
Adoke, who said this at the 2013 Ministerial Platform in Abuja, noted that the money was recovered from one Raj Arjandes Bhojwani, an Indian national and associate of late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.
He said that the assets were recovered in 2011, adding that the ministry was able to recover and repatriate the money following its negotiations with the Island of Jersey.

“During the period under review, the ministry intensified its efforts to trace and repatriate Nigeria’s stolen assets abroad.  “In this connection, we have maintained effective liaison and communication with targeted jurisdictions to keep pace with assets recovery proceedings in those jurisdictions.
“In 2011, our close liaison and negotiation with the Island of Jersey led to the recovery and repatriation of the sum of £22.5 million confiscated by the Royal Court of Jersey from Raj Arjandes Bhojwani, an Indian national and associate of General Sani Abacha on account of his money laundering transactions from Nigeria.“

Navy Recovers Yakowa, Azazi’s Bodies, Four Others





The Nigerian Navy disclosed, Sunday, that its search and rescue efforts, after the Dec 15 helicopter crash in Okoloba community, has led to the recovery of six bodies of the victims of the crash, saying that the bodies have been deposited at the Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
It said with the recovery, the Navy has commenced investigation into the cause of the accident.
The  statement by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Kabiru Aliyu reads, “The Nigerian Navy wishes to confirm that search and rescue effort has led to the recovery of all the 4 passengers and the 2 pilots on board its helicopter NN 07 which crashed on 15 December 2012”. “The bodies of the victims have been recovered from the scene of the incident and the crash site has been duly secured to allow for detailed investigation.
